Scientists found signs of an ancient hidden sea off Philippine coast
Posted by: senona - 08-25-2016, 07:16 AM - Forum: Lost and Ancient - Replies (3)

The Philippine Sea today

Quote:Geologists have discovered remnants of a long-lost sea that once ran between today’s Pacific and Indo-Australian oceans, spanning more than 15 million square kilometres around 52 million years ago.

This ancient sea, which the team has dubbed the East Asian Sea, was likely 'swallowed up' by the surface of the planet millions of years ago, as the tectonic plates that intersected beneath it gradually sank into Earth’s mantle.

Expecting that they would just have to map one tectonic plate in the area, they soon realised that it harboured a veritable 'slab graveyard', with signs of several plates that have been slowly been sinking into Earth’s mantle - the thick, dynamic layer that sits between Earth’s crust and its upper core.

Quote:While the mantle is mainly made up of silicate rocky material, it behaves more like a viscous fluid than a solid, because its temperatures are so close to the melting point.

The mantle makes up 84 percent of Earth’s volume, and it can take up to 300 million years for a tectonic plate to sink all the way through it and disappear into Earth’s core below. Think of the plates' movements like giant leaves slowly sinking to the bottom of a swimming pool.

Using a technique called seismic tomography, which interprets seismic waves generated by earthquakes and allows you to turn them into three-dimensional reconstructions, Wu and his team retraced the movements of 28 huge slabs of Earth’s crust, which had sunk between 500 and 1300 kilometres deep into the mantle.

Once that jigsaw puzzle was complete, they found at least 70 million square kilometres' worth of these sunken slabs - equivalent to about one-seventh of the total Earth surface area.

Quote:Reconstructing the history of these plates allowed the team to see how 15 million square kilometres of this buried material would have served as the bottom of the ancient, now-defunct East Asian Sea some 52 million years ago - less than 10 million years after the demise of the non-avian dinosaurs.

"We were seeing things that we didn’t even realise existed," Wu told Blakemore. "We didn’t know whether to believe it or not until we put it all together."

The researchers suspect that the East Asian Sea gradually started shrinking into nothing once the Philippine Sea Plate grew and migrated northwest, colliding with the East Asian Sea Plate, and directing it down into Earth's mantle.

At the same time, the Indo-Australian, Pacific, and Caroline plates pushed down on the southern portion of the East Asian Sea plate.

"The southern area of the East Asian Sea Plate was eventually subducted by, or forced beneath, other neighbouring plates," Greg Uyeno explains for Live Science.

By about 10 million years ago, the entire sea was gone.

Amazing.....this is a very interesting scientific discovery most definitely.
Goes to show humans cannot stop a planet from going thru it's natural changes when it gets ready to.
All we are is just a 'blip' on a planet that is 4.5 billion years old.

Blame plate tectonics for the disappearance of this ancient sea

Quote:The area around the Philippine Sea is better known for being a political hotspot than a geological one. But it turns out that the tectonic plate named for it is just as volatile. It’s located at the intersection of the Eurasian, Pacific and Indo-Australian plates — three plates, that, millions of years ago, swallowed up an ancient sea.

That’s the conclusion of a new study published in the Journal of Geophysical Research that sheds light on something scientists once thought they’d never be able to explore: the remnants of ancient tectonic plates.

They will be like kids in a candy shop, studying the ancient tectonic plates.
Would love to know what else they pick up from them.

Quote:It took five years for Wu and his colleagues to gather enough evidence to support the existence of the sea, which they think shrank over time as more and more plates in the area were subducted and lost. The shape of the sea fits in with a literal gap in plate tectonics — an area in the vicinity of the theorized sea whose lithology geologists haven’t been able to figure out. “Twenty-eight slabs later, we felt like we could answer that question,” he laughs.

Now Wu and Suppe have joined the faculty of the University of Houston, where they will try to delve even further into the past that’s buried beneath the Earth’s crust. Although they’re still refining their method, which is only as good as the seismic data collected by monitoring stations throughout the world, they hope that their work is just the beginning of a new way of looking at Earth’s history from the inside out.

“We’re filling in the other half of plate tectonics by looking inside the interior of the Earth,” says Wu. “Who knows how many other oceans there are to be found?”

Indeed....who knows how many other oceans there are to be found.
Great work guys!!

State University Now Offers 'Stop White People' Training
Posted by: guohua - 08-25-2016, 01:42 AM - Forum: General News and Events - Replies (14)

Just makes you want to Pull Your Hair Out And SCREAM! WTF People!  smallseeingred
If anything is keeping us Racially Divided It's Our Education System!

Quote:The State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton is now offering a course called “#StopWhitePeople2K16” as part of routine training for residential assistants.
The university’s residential assistant training schedule lists “#StopWhitePeople2016” on its roster, with the mission of giving RA’s an “overview of disabilities in Higher Education.”
The presenters of the course, Ciaran SlatteryNicholas Pulakos, and Urenna Nwogwugwu, are all RAs at the state-funded college, which describes itself as New York’s highest-ranking public college. They state their purpose is to “help others take the next step in understanding diversity, privilege, and the society we function within,” presumably the “white” society they plan to "stop" at the event.

The three RAs claim they will give “#StopWhitePeople2K16” course attendees the “tools” to respond to “uneducated people” with “‘good’ arguments.” You know, the people who preach mutual respect, equality under God, and constitutional freedoms. Those people.
They also state they will help other RAs at the state-funded college “hopefully expand upon what they may already know”: that white people are cancer, of course.

College RAs hold important roles in college residential and dormitory life, serving as mentors, counselors, and peers to the student residents they oversee. “These people should be sensitive to the issues of their residents, and to be prejudiced against someone on the basis of his or her skin color would seem, just like the hashtag itself, petty,” student Howard Hecht noted.

Binghamton Review, the university’s conservative student paper, publicized the course schedule, noting the university “seems to endorse it as a proper part of a RA training.” It was added:
At a public, state funded university, to potentially see racism endorsed is a frightening prospect for the future of higher education.
So, let's stop racism by being racist. According to our Education System, Hollywood and Democrats, Only White People Can be Racist,,,, Well they need to take to the Chinese or at least this Little Old Chinese Lady!

Harry Reid calls Benghazi victim’s mother ‘crazy’
Posted by: guohua - 08-25-2016, 12:28 AM - Forum: Political News and more - Replies (1)

WTF  tinywhat
Won't you call this Woman and Gold Star Family Member? They Slammed Trump for calling Khan what he is, a Person that Supports, The Muslim Brotherhood, Sharia Law and he's a Immigration Lawyer.
Well the MSM attack or Even Mention H. Reid comments,,,,, HELL NO, he's a Loved Democrat!

Besides, Hillary is a Liar, she lied to this woman about why her son died.

Quote:Sen. Harry Reid is fighting back against claims that Hillary Clinton was responsible for the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya by calling the most outspoken parent “crazy.”

While speaking to reporters, Reid slammed Patricia Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, who died in the 2012 terrorist attack.

“At the national convention, they had that poor Smith woman some out and say, ‘Hillary Clinton killed my son,'” Reid told reporters (wearing sunglasses inside).

“How crazy,” he said.

The Senate Minority Leader was referring to Smith’s speech to the Republican National Committee in July.
“I blame Hillary Clinton personally for the death of my son. personally. in an e-mail to her daughter Hillary Clinton blamed it on –shortly after the attack– terrorism, but when I saw Hillary Clinton, she lied to me and then called me a liar,” Smith said, according to Real Clear Politics.

“Since then, I have repeatedly asked Hillary Clinton to ask plaintiff may the real reason why my son is dead. I’m still waiting. Whenever I call the State Department, no one would speak to me because they say I am not a member of the immediate family…”
“Sean was my son. Hillary Clinton is a woman, a mother, a grandmother of two. I am a woman, a mother, and a mother of two. How could she do this to me? How could she do this to any American family?”

“Donald Trump is everything Hillary Clinton is not,” Smith said. “He is blunt, direct, and strong. He speaks his mind and his heart. And when it comes to the threat posed by radical Islamic terrorism, he will not hesitate to kill the terrorist who threaten American lives.”

  Our “11 Eco-Friendly Habits” That Aren’t So Eco-Friendly
Posted by: senona - 08-24-2016, 06:37 AM - Forum: Fragile Earth - Replies (2)

[Image: Electronic-Cigarettes.jpg?resize=696%2C392]

Many products and services get labeled as being eco-friendly today as companies battle on to provide the most “green” options.  But, often they are given that status without really having earned it.
And many products that claim to be “all natural” or “green” have suffered many hidden environmental costs that we as consumers are not made aware of.

Check out the list below for some more hidden truths about Eco-Friendly habits:

Quote:1.  Recycling:  Recycling has been created out of a necessity of having to deal with the by-products of disposable goods.  You may think you are saving the planet by taking your empty bottles and plastic cartons to the recycling center, but it does very little.  It is estimated that around 40,000 plastic bottles would need to be recycled just to offset the environmental cost of one person’s single flight from New York to London.  Also, the process of turning garbage into new products burns energy and adds to the pollution in the air.

Quote:2.  Using cloth diapers:  Although it may be slightly cheaper to opt for cloth diapers over disposable ones, it is not necessarily any better for the environment.  When you take into consideration the washing of the diapers, they were found to have the same environmental impact as the disposables.  Also, the cotton used in cloth diapers is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions during its fertilization.

Quote:3.   Purchasing natural products:  Many of us have been fooled by labels of unscrupulous companies pretending to be something they are not.  The FDA’s loose definition of what qualifies as “all-natural” allows companies to get away with misleading consumers.

Quote:4.   Composting:  Composting is great for getting rid of scraps and nourishing your garden in the meantime, but it does not come without its health risks.  A compost heap is a lurking ground for all kinds of dangerous pathogens like Legionella and tremorgenic mycotoxins that can lead to serious neurological problems in people and wildlife.

Quote:5.  Organic groceries:  Although real organic farms don’t use synthetic pesticides and adopt sustainable farming methods, the processes involved in organic farming still have an impact on the environment.  Methane is still produced in producing organically-raised beef which is a major contributor to global warming.

Quote:6.  Using solar panels:  Solar panels are a fantastic way to power your home using renewable energy, but it is not as green as it makes out.  The manufacturing of solar panels still requires electricity and chemicals and therefore contributes to greenhouse gas emissions.

Quote:7.  Using compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL):  These bulbs use 75 percent less energy than traditional bulbs, but they are made using dangerous substances like mercury and if not disposed of if correctly, can damage your health as well as the environment.

Quote:8.  Drinking from an aluminum bottle:  Reusable water bottles are often made of aluminum.  Aluminum processing creates ten times the amount of carbon dioxide that’s produced by steel.

Quote:9.  Ethanol fuel:  When ethanol was first introduced as a sustainable alternative to fuel it quickly gained popularity.  However, scientists have concluded that the environmental impact of producing ethanol far outweighs the benefits.  Corn ethanol requires farmers to spray fertilizer that has the potential to damage water resources and the process of converting corn into fuel burns a significant amount of energy.

Quote:10.  Hybrid vehicles:  They do produce lower emissions than your standard gas-powered equivalent, but the still have an impact on the environment.  The production of a hybrid car requires more energy than that of a conventional car and the materials used in the hybrid’s battery could also have an effect on the environment.  Lithium, Cobalt, and Nickel are all elements found in hybrid batteries, and all are difficult to mine without harming the environment.

Quote:11.   “Green cleaners”:  The only way to know you are using a green cleaner is to make it yourself.  Current cleaners don’t have to meet any requirements to be considered “green,” so products are often poorly labeled, misleading consumers.

Another thing about plastics, is not all of it gets recycled. Much of it still ends up at land fills.

Interesting about solar panels and hybrid cars.
Basically it is the process of making the product that is bad on the environment. The hidden truth that hardly ever gets talked about.

  6.2 Earthquake strikes central Italy
Posted by: senona - 08-24-2016, 03:49 AM - Forum: Forces of Nature - Replies (10)

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck central Italy, south of the city of Perugia, the US Geological Survey says, with the shock also felt in Rome.

Quote:The quake hit at 03:36 (01:36 GMT), 76 km (47 miles) southeast of the city, at the very shallow depth of 10km (six miles), the USGS said.

In Rome, some buildings shook for 20 seconds, according to La Repubblica newspaper.

So far, there are no reports of damage or casualties.

However the USGS predicted these could be significant, based on data from previous quakes.
The prime minister's office said the government was in touch with regional heads of the civil protection agency.

The quake was initially reported as being magnitude 6.4.

In 2009, a 6.3-magnitude earthquake in the Aquila region, which was also felt in the Italian capital, left more than 300 dead.

No reports of damages or casualties at this time.
Hopefully there won't be.

Will post any updates as more information comes out.....

  'Second Earth' to be revealed...
Posted by: guohua - 08-23-2016, 11:03 PM - Forum: Science and Space...the Other Final Frontiers - Replies (6)

That's what they are saying and the shocking part, they are also saying that with a Laser Sail Nano Craft they can be there in 20 years.
OK, so,,,,,, That's a Damn Small Craft and I always thought that Proxima Centauri was a long ways away or am I wrong.

Quote:ASTRONOMERS are preparing to announce the discovery of a potentially habitable second Earth orbiting a nearby star, it has been claimed.

An anonymous source from the ESO told German publication Der Spiegel the discovery is the closest habitable planet to Earth, which means we could reach it within our lifetime.
Really, in our lifetime tinysure
Quote:But the astonishing finding was not officially announced, sparking furious speculation that the second Earth has deliberately been kept a secret.
Now the ESO is set to finally reveal details of the planet at a press conference tomorrow and astronomers are also likely to discuss whether it has the potential to support life.
“The still nameless planet is believed to be Earth-like and orbits at a distance to Proxima Centauri that could allow it to have liquid water on its surface — an important requirement for the emergence of life,” the source said.
“Never before have scientists discovered a second Earth that is so close by.”
Since its launch in 2009, NASA’s planet finding Kepler Spacecraft has discovered more than 4000 exoplanet candidates.
Of these, there have been 216 Earth-like located within the Goldilocks Zone — the region around a star in which the surface temperature of an orbiting planet might support water.
The problem is that while most of these Earth-like planets are habitable, they are located thousands of light years away, which means they are out of our reach.
Astronomers from the observatory had previously claimed to have found the then-closest exoplanet to Earth in 2012, although subsequent analysis cast doubt on its existence.

If the findings are correct, Russian billionaire Yuri Milner’s search for intelligent life could focus on heading to the planet.

As part of Milner’s plans, Project Starshot intends to send a laser-sail driven-nanocraft to Alpha Centauri — the closest star system to the Solar System — in the coming years.
With the craft able to travel up to 20 per cent of the speed of light, if Project Starshot was to rethink its objective, it would be able to reach the Earth-like planet orbiting Proxima Centauri in less than 20 years.
However, mastermind of Project Starshot Professor Phillip Lubin said the focus will likely stay on Alpha Centauri.
“The discovery of possible planet around Proxima Centauri is very exciting. It makes the case of visiting nearby stellar systems even more compelling, though we know there are many exoplanets around other nearby stars and it is very likely that the Alpha Centauri system will also have planets,”

Now they're talking like travel between these distant Stars is possible.
Reminds you of the Secret Space Program.

Anyone here Shocked By This?
I don't think so, most believe the Clinton Thugs Killed Poor Vince Foster.
Now with her election close and all these other Whistleblowers Coming Up Dead, Well someone is protecting her from investigative reporters doing their job for the public.
Like This Guy:

Quote:Ronald Kessler, a former Washington Post and Wall Street Journal investigative reporter, is the New York Times bestselling author of The First Family Detail: Secret Service Agents Reveal the Hidden Lives of the Presidents and The Secrets of the FBI.
What did he discover?
Quote:FBI agents' reports of interviews documenting that Hillary Clinton's stinging humiliation of her friend and mentor Vince Foster in front of White House aides triggered his suicide a week later are missing from where they should be filed at the National Archives, Daily Mail Online has learned exclusively.
On two separate occasions, this author visited the National Archives and Records Service in College Park, Md., to review the reports generated by FBI agents assigned to investigate the 1993 death of Bill Clinton's deputy White House counsel.

On the first visit, archivist David Paynter provided the box of records that he said contained the FBI reports of interviews conducted by FBI agents on Foster's death.

On a second visit, archivist James Mathis provided what he said were those same documents.

While the box contained dozens of FBI reports concerning Foster's death - including interviews with the medical examiner, U.S. Park Police officers, and White House aides about the contents of Foster's office -  the reports on Hillary Clinton's role in his death were absent.

Woman Stabs Three People On Bus In Belgian Capital.
Posted by: BIAD - 08-23-2016, 08:53 AM - Forum: European Union - Replies (11)

'A woman has stabbed up to three people on a bus in a suburb of the Belgian
capital Brussels, the city's authorities have said.

The attack happened around 4.30pm local time in Uccle, just south of the centre
of Brussels. Police opened fire after arriving at the scene, hitting the attacker in
the arm.

The suspect and the three injured victims have all been taken to hospital.

Public broadcaster RTBF said that sources had told it the attacker was thought
to have mental health problems and was not motivated by terrorism.
The prosecutors' office said its officers were handling the incident, rather than the
federal body that deals with terror cases.

Belgium has been on high alert since militants carried out a series of attacks in
the country and in neighbouring France...'

What's weird is the first sentence on the news item was this:
'A source in the prosecutors' office says the attack is not thought to be terror
related as the country remains on high alert'

In my view, it's another case of controlling the narrative.
There's a multitude of crimes being committed under the title of 'mental health' in Europe
when in reality, the true headings are 'self-radicalisation' and 'regular imported crimes' due
to the settling of the welcomed immigrants into these countries.

Of course, crimes are committed by the original citizens of these countries, but when a migrant
or refugee is involved, the news-outlets 'alters' the wording -not unlike 727Sky's The girl, the
Lion, and the Biker story, and portrays it as just another incident.

Once again, the MSM attempting to stifle the true problems of religious extremism.
Just as this tragic incident offers:

'An eight-year-old boy who died when a grenade exploded in an apartment
in Sweden was from Birmingham, it is believed.
The blast occurred in a third floor flat in a suburb of Gothenburg in the early
hours of Monday morning.
(23rd August 2016)

Emergency services were called to the apartment at 3am and found several
adults and at least five children inside, one seriously injured.

The boy, who was visiting with his family at the time, died later in hospital of his

The Birmingham Mail [UK] reported that the newspaper had spoken to the father
of the boy, who they named as Yuusuf Warsame.
He was a pupil at a school in the Sparkhill area of the city, [Birmingham England]
according to the paper.

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet said the grenade had been thrown into the
apartment's living room through an open window and the blast hit the boy,
who was sleeping there.
Others sleeping in the room escaped serious injury.

The investigation has been classified as a murder/manslaughter, according to
Sweden's The Local website.
Police are probing the possibility the grenade was thrown as a revenge attack.

The Local said individuals convicted of serious violent crimes were living in the
residence and one of the men convicted of a fatal shooting at a restaurant last
year was registered at the address.

Yuusuf grew up in Sparkhill after his parents moved there from the Netherlands
in 2001, according to the Birmingham Mail...'

Asassination attempt? Panic for Julian Assange as intruder scales Ecuadorian embassy
Posted by: guohua - 08-23-2016, 08:41 AM - Forum: General News and Events - Replies (7)

So, was it?
Yes, I ask you, do any of you believe it was an actual Assassination Attempt?
I don't, Not a Professional anyway.

Quote:AN ATTEMPTED break-in at the Ecuadorian embassy where WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is living was foiled this morning.
[Image: EcuadorAssange-702542.jpg] Assange has lived inside the embassy in London for four years.
Quote:Security was scrambled at the London building sparking international concern Assange was the target of the intruder.
A statement was put out by WikiLeaks this morning.
It stated: “16 mins ago at 2:47am a "cat burgler" scaled the side wall+window of the Ecuadorian embassy in London; fled after being caught by security.”
Mr Assange has been living inside the embassy for more than four years and has been granted political asylum by Ecuador.

Really,,, Fled AFTER Being Caught By Security??? WTF!! How can someone flee if they're caught? Where They Let Go or is this a Bad Choice Of Words By The Reporter?
Quote:Fans of Assange took to Twitter to suggest he may now be in danger inside the embassy.
One wrote: “Here we go. I hope Mr. Assange knows what he's doing. Hope he leaves his information with others in case of an accident.”
Another said: “Somebody is definitely out for Assange. I really do hope Assange has some great intel for us once he's done redacting.”
Some suspected American involvement.
PLEASE, if America was involved, even with the Limp Dicks They Have Working Today In My Old Field, Could Of Taking These Target out!  tinyok
Quote:He is wanted for questioning over a sex allegation, which he denies, and believes that he will be taken to the United States to be quizzed over the activities of WikiLeaks if he goes to Sweden.

Prosecutors were set to interview him inside the embassy but Mr Assange claims the case have been dropped.
Far more likely to be a publicity stunt.
