  Times Change People Don't
Posted by: NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-02-2020, 10:02 PM - Forum: Movies and TV Shows - Replies (7)

This is a Rod Sterling Movie that could have been written today. It is really worth watching. It is a little over an hour long, so grab the popcorn.

Quote:A Town Has Turned to Dust
Written by Rod Serling Directed by John Frankenheimer. Starring William Shatner Rod Steiger (June 19, 1958)
Rod Serling created this raw, tough and at the same time, deeply moving outcry against prejudice. Serling laid the scene of his play in a Southwestern town racked by unremitting drought and worn by an ever-present sun. In their own poverty, the stricken townspeople turn to bigotry and prejudice against their Mexican colony as a release for their own frustrations. An innocent Mexican boy is sacrificed to a lynch mob by an ineffectual sheriff (Steiger). The slaughter leads to a brooding darkness involving the remorseful relatives of the Mexican youngster and the sullen townspeople.

***Rogue's Outlandish Game Vol. 3 - Ahabstar Wins The Game ***
Posted by: TheRedneck - 07-02-2020, 09:24 PM - Forum: Life's Games - Replies (48)

Welcome to our newest installment of Rogue's Outlandish Game!

*cue circus music*

Roguettes and Gentle-rogues! Rednecks of all ages! Tonight we have for you the ultimate in skill in deduction and detail! I direct your attention to our center (and only) ring, where IAMTAT will be facing off with Ahabstar! And now, without further ado, these are the claims by our Narrator, TheRedneck!

Remember that one of these is a bald-faced lie, while the other two are true. The rules of the game are:

IAMTAT will have the advantage of being our first contestant. Each contestant will be given the opportunity to ask TheRedneck a question pertaining to one of the claims, in turn, until both contestants have asked three questions each. TheRedneck, yours truly, will answer to the best of his ability, with the unvarnished truth... except for questions concerning the claim which is a lie, in which case he may continue to lie unabashedly. At the end of the questioning, each player will choose which of the three claims he believes is a lie, starting with IAMTAT. Ahabstar will not be able to choose the same claim as IAMTAT.

Spectators may ask questions, but TheRedneck may choose whether or not to answer them.

The winner will be the contestant who chooses the lie, and will become the Narrator for our next round. The loser will forfeit their ability to participate in the next round.

If neither chooses the lie, our gracious host Sol will conduct a guessing game which may or may not require the next 3.72 months to complete.

So now, here are the claims!

Claim #1: I once threatened my superior at work with a loaded pistol... and did not get fired!

Claim #2: I once designed, built, and entered into combat a "Battlebot" as a member of a team I assembled.

Claim #3: I was once hung by the neck with a noose for several minutes. Yes, I survived. No, there was no fetish involved.

Those are the claims I make to IAMTAT and Ahabstar. Two are the truth; one is a lie. It is up to you to determine which is which.

IAMTAT, as the contestant holding the advantage, the first question is yours: choose your words carefully!

Thumbs Up Celebrating Independence Day by being compliant
Posted by: beez - 07-02-2020, 08:20 PM - Forum: Political News and more - Replies (22)

I guess you could file this under, "Rant By Angry Old Man".

In a couple of days, Americans are going to "celebrate" the 4th of July, Independence Day.

They will do it with masks on because that's what the government is telling them to do.

They won't be able to go to beaches, lakes, rivers in many states because the government is telling them not to.

They won't be at bars, restaurants, clubs, because the government says they have to stay closed.

They will celebrate independence from a crual government over-reach by only doing what the state, local, federal government tells them they can do.

I propose changing the name to "Irony Day" because our nation has become one of candy-asses who soil their skinny jeans when they see someone without a mask unless they're tearing down a statue or trying to destroy Mt. Rushmore.

On Saturday, while many are celebrating in a neat and tidy prescribed government fashion, I'll be mourning the loss of the independent spirit that once made us great.

  Digital impressionism
Posted by: F2d5thCav - 07-02-2020, 03:28 PM - Forum: Daily Chit Chat - Replies (4)

So some people are genuinely talented artists, like @"BIAD" . . . others are like me, performing the digital equivalent of throwing paint at walls and seeing what sticks.

One thing I like messing with from time to time are the effects filters in paint programs.  I'm fond of the "impressionist" filter, as it has potential to produce images that could be used as unique digital postcards and the like.

This is a photo of Mont Saint Michel with the impressionist filter applied at a strength of "8".  Nice to look at.  Or is it?

  Walk-ins
Posted by: NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-02-2020, 01:44 PM - Forum: The Paranormal World - Replies (42)

I apologize for how I am starting this thread. I know it is poor form to start a thread with poor or little content, but there is a rationale associated with my break from the proper and expected when posting.

I need to know if you have ever heard the term "walk-in".

It is a term that I have heard, but I have no real knowledge or experience with the phenomena.

Before I share my experience I need to know a little more about them, so I can determine if my experience was valid, or just a thing, not worth any more of my consideration.

I am interested in any information you may have about walk-ins. They don't have to be personal experiences, any knowledge of them will be helpful.

Hundreds of elephants dead in mysterious mass die-off
Posted by: Sol - 07-02-2020, 12:30 PM - Forum: Fragile Earth - Replies (12)

Peculiar...

Quote:More than 350 elephants have died in northern Botswana in a mysterious mass die-off described by scientists as a “conservation disaster”.

Botswana being Botswana, no government official has sent anything to labs for testing.

Quote:Elephants of all ages and both sexes have been dying, local reports found. Several live elephants appeared weak and emaciated, suggesting more will die in the coming weeks. The true number of deaths is likely to be even higher because carcasses can be difficult to spot, say conservationists.

Just another one of those darn things for which we'll never get an answer.

Rest of the story here: Not from covid-19

  A couple of Frog songs...
Posted by: Rodinus - 07-02-2020, 10:19 AM - Forum: The Rogue's Music and Media Room - Replies (4)

Being over here for over 30 odd years I have acquired a certain taste for French musicians...

Here are two of my favourites to begin with :

SERGE GAINSBOUROUGH :

The drunk, Gitane fag smoking chappy married to that ugly woman called Jane Birkin that sadly passed away back in 1991 :

JE t'AIME MOI NON PLUS (Banned back in the UK during the late 70s and early 80s as considered too rude...)

The lyrics are about the joys and pains of sodomy :

French lyrics :

Je t'aime, je t'aime
Oh oui, je t'aime
Moi non plus
Oh, mon amour
Comme la vague irrésolue
Je vais, je vais et je viens
Entre tes reins
Je vais et je viens
Entre tes reins
Et je me retiens
Je t'aime, je t'aime
Oh oui, je t'aime
Moi non plus
Oh, mon amour
Tu es la vague, moi l'île nue
Tu vas, tu vas et tu viens
Entre mes reins
Tu vas et tu viens
Entre mes reins
Et je te rejoins
Je t'aime, je t'aime
Oh oui, je t'aime
Moi non plus
Oh, mon amour
Comme la vague irrésolue
Je vais, je vais et je viens
Entre tes reins
Je vais et je viens
Entre tes reins
Et je me retiens
Tu vas, tu vas et tu viens
Entre…

English lyrics :

I love you, I love you.
Oh yes, I love you.
Neither do I.
Oh, my love.
Like the unsolved wave
I go, I go and I come
Between your kidneys
I come and go
Between your kidneys
And I'm holding back
I love you, I love you.
Oh yes, I love you.
Neither do I.
Oh, my love.
You're the wave, I'm the naked island...
You go, you go and you come
Between my kidneys
You come and go
Between my kidneys
And I'll join you
I love you, I love you.
Oh yes, I love you.
Neither do I.
Oh, my love.
Like the unsolved wave
I go, I go and I come
Between your kidneys
I come and go
Between your kidneys
And I'm holding back
You go, you go and you come
Come on in.

The video :

And this lovely lady below who lives not far from where we are located and spent most of her life as a homeless person roaming the streets of Tours here in the centre of France and that we had the joy of welcoming to our humble demeure when she was seriously in the shit... :

I GIVE YOU ZAZ :

Enjoy.

Kindest respects
