Halloween Party October 28th to November 1st 2022
#61
Got my Halloween freaking out moment here.

I woke up, made coffee, checked time. 3:33 AM.

Had a cigarette, slowly drank down the first coffee mug out of 2 i always have after waking up.

Checked time. 3:00 AM.

First thought: Delirium tremens. Second thought: A time slip caused by aliens. Third thought: Finland transferring to winter time. This thought is actually the most insane one. EU said they would stop this shit but they did not, and blamed the delay on the plandemic.

OMG! Did Finland already fall back an hour? In the U.S. we don’t fall back until November 6. I think this is the last year we do, and then in 2023 we stay on daylight savings time. I hate going backwards because then it gets dark here at 4 PM or so. That sucks.

Yeah, it just happened tonight. At 4 AM we went back to 3 AM tinyhuh

Days are getting short alright...

Quote:If you are a newcomer to Finland, you must have realized how short are becoming the days. Actually, the darkness will dominate the following months. Nights will be so long that in Lapland the sun won't rise. In Finland, this is called kaamos (or polar night, in English).

As the winter solstice approaches, more towns in Northern Finland get immerse into a long night that can last several weeks.

I love the darkness though. I need to buy vitamin D soon, The Sun is not giving me much. It is not really even a vitamin. It is a hormone. But i call it vitamin D, because so does everyone else, dunno why.

Yes, I know that a good chunk of Finland is north of the Arctic Circle. I can’t imagine it being dark all the time like that. Yes, Vitamin D would be good. I sometimes take extra in the dead of winter here, because I can’t get it from the sunlight at that time of the year. What I’d like to see here is the Aurora Borealis. I’ve only seen it live once when I was in far northern Wisconsin in February. It was amazing, but I have yet to see it here.

Beware, 3am-4am is known as the demon hour. Strong coffee will banish them. tinycool

Crazy busy day.

I got my 6 miles in, played Uber driver for a friend on an ever changing flight.

Just reinforced my stance on airlines. I will only fly if it is damn near life or death.

Now I am so tired I can even drink a glass of water.

Night all.

Had good fun tonight in OmegaLogos' Discord/alternate shoutbox. Him and Brotherman even roped me into joining the voice chat until the wee hours which opens a whole new level of getting to know more about who and what other Rogues are all about.

It was interesting. If you haven't, you should give it a try!

Well, it's been a harrowing evening to say the least! Just as the last of the daylight left the garden and the eager
children of the estate trotted past in pursuit of tooth-cavity-making Halloween candy, Boy In A Dress and I waited
beside his little shed for what might arrive through the ever-thickening gloom. The clown mask he was wearing had
now slipped down to hide his overtly-exposed cleavage and I'd discarded the sweaty rubber Wolfman mask some time
before. I guess there's something for small mercies.

"Don't be afraid..." BIAD huskily whispered as I adjusted the grip of my crudely sharpened stake and peered around
nervously. "...They'll come from the south-west, they always do" he added and offered a reassuring smile that reminded
me why I hate horror movies.

As a lamp flicked on in my lounge and my wife waved from the window, I nodded my faux-confidence to her and returned
to scanning the dark for BIAD's annual attack of Furies. My vigilance wasn't needed for long as the Man-Girl pointed a red
-nailed finger towards a black blob moving quickly under the dull-grey clouds. "If you need to clench, now is the time" the
determined androgyne hissed sarcastically from the side of his mouth and dug his stiletto heels into the beach-cobble.

Screaming and laughing, they came. Three horrid leathery things on wings that resembled damaged umbrellas and grasping
claws that sought purchase on my bare-thighed lodger of my shed. BIAD yelled something with 'Mutha' in it, but I'd wager he
wasn't stating that one of the Flapping Furies was someone who had reared him.

Twice, the raging Man-Girl was picked up from the ground by his dress-straps, his confusing physical attributes bare for all
to see. I swallowed my fear and yanked on BIAD's legs until the frightful creature released his garment and we both tumbled
back to the smooth stones of the garden. Akimbo would be the correct descriptive.

When the featureless gynandromorph eventually succeeded in jamming his wooden stave into the chest of one of the winged
ogres, I felt a faint sense of pride for my strange friend and relief that we might actually survive this night. Alas, BIAD's sneer
of "eat that you bugger!" seemed to fail as an heroic quote that may one day be written down on a parchment listing champions
who never sport underwear.

But on and on we fought, my arms ached from weakly swinging my only weapon and my eyes hurting from occasionally glimpsing
Boy In A Dress' exposed one. This wasn't like the game of cricket where one could stop for tea or Pong, where the score doesn't
mean much... this was war.

Finally, as if a silent agreement passed between the trio of Furies, they called it a night and left. Their adversaries left kneeling
in the garden pretending not to breath too hard and yet, smiling in the dark at each other. "I suppose a mug of coffee's out of
the question?" BIAD quipped and patting his sweat-sheened shoulder, I nodded and softly advised him to straighten his dress.
After all, there's only so much horror I can withstand.

That sounded terrifying. I’m so glad you were there to help and the two of you made it through that ordeal mostly unscathed.

I’m so sad that Halloween is coming to an end. I’m thinking I might keep my decorations out until the first of December. People have already started Christmas stuff, why shouldn’t Halloween get 2 or 3 months too?

I have skulls, a full skeleton and lights that I keep out year round. This year I added some small skeletal animals and a smaller skeleton in Grim Reaper garb that will also stay displayed year round. I may keep out a few voodoo dolls as well. I have a manequin head that I want to do something greusome with but haven't quite decided what but when I do it will remain on display year round too. Halloween can be all year if you really want it to be!

Kdog is such a doll for putting up with my weirdness! lol!

I used to love Halloween when I was younger, but the only thing it brings into my life these days is trouble.

One or two weeks of folk walking doing crazy and sometimes downright mean ass crap, is enough for me.

At least Christmas is supposed to about love, peace, harmony, and being jolly. Though the holiday does add to my woes also, because some people engage in way too much good cheer, and some take instead of give. But all in all I like event that will make people enjoy the company of others.

So far I haven't been called out, but it is still a bit early for the call outs. On the holidays they usually start coming in after the bars close, or the next day.
