'Chelsea Manning' Hacker Found Dead.

Adrian Lamo.

'Adrian Lamo, a computer hacker best known for passing on information that led to the arrest of Chelsea Manning, has died aged 37.
In online messaging conversations, Manning confided in him, describing confidential military material Manning had sent to Wikileaks.

Wikileaks published the video of a US helicopter strike that killed seven people, including a journalist working for the Reuters news agency.
The cause of Lamo’s death, confirmed to the BBC by the Sedgwick County coroner in Kansas, has not yet been made public.

On Facebook, his father Mario wrote: “With great sadness and a broken heart I have to let know all of Adrian's friends and acquittances
[sic] that he is dead. A bright mind and compassionate soul is gone, he was my beloved son.”
Lamo's own record as a hacker included some high-profile targets, such as Microsoft and the New York Times.

'Thrust upon me'
Speaking to the Guardian newspaper in 2011, Lamo described his decision to give up Manning as “not one I decided to make,
but was thrust upon me”. Lamo said he would have "lasting regret" if Manning handed a long sentence.
Manning, known at the time as Bradley Manning, was eventually sentenced to 35 years in prison.
However, President Barack Obama later commuted her sentence and she was released in May 2017.

She is now attempting to become the Senator for Maryland, her home state.
Wikileaks founder Julian Assange on Friday described Lamo as a “petty conman and betrayer of basic human decency”...'

Teen Owes $20,000 in Damages After a House Party Turned Destructive
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 03-16-2018, 12:27 AM - Forum: General News and Events - Replies (1)

Boy, I tell you what... if this was my kid...   smallfit

The dangers of teenagers throwing house parties — like these kids in the movie Project X — are numerous. (Photo: Everett Collection)
Quote:
After using her parents’ credit card to rent a house in which to throw a wild party, a Canadian 14-year-old is in major trouble — $20,000 worth, actually. That’s the amount of damage the teens caused, and which her parents must now pay.
Last week, police responded to a call that reported an “uncontrolled party” at a neighborhood home in West Vancouver, where nearly 200 teens were seen “flooding out” once officials arrived, according to CTV News. Left in their wake was a house with much destruction — to walls, furniture, and artwork, all of which her parents will be held accountable for.
According to the police report, the young girl responsible for the event had used her parents’ credit card without their permission. But the parents will still have to find a way to pay.
And while that might seem like a nightmare to any mom or dad, parents in the U.S. would not only be financially liable, but likely criminally as well, thanks to the threat of social host laws in many states.
There have been numerous cases of parents facing charges for hosting parties that involve underage drinking. While in this particular case, the parents weren’t present and the fete wasn’t even at their own home, their names were on the credit card used to lay out payment for the rental house.
Social host laws hold non-commercial individuals, including parents, landowners, and tenants, responsible for underage drinking events on property they own, lease, or otherwise control,” according to the Center for the Study of Law and Enforcement Policy — meaning that guardians remain responsible whether they provide the alcohol or not. (Luckily for these parents, though, Canada’s Supreme Court ruled against social host liability law in the 2006 case of Childs v. Desomoreaux.)
Legal problems aside, though, the Canada party disaster can serve as a much-needed teachable moment for teens who may be thinking about throwing their own out-of-control party.
“The first thing parents have to do is talk to their kids,” child and adolescent psychologist Barbara Greenberg tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “Approach it in a two-pronged way. Empathize with your kid and align yourself with them so that they know you’re on their side. Explain the peer pressures and negative outcomes. Secondly, explain that this is our home that we’ve worked so hard for, and as a part of the family, you need to protect it too, and our resources.”
It’s also important to have an adult supervising, she says, as a grown-up’s presence can help a teen deflect inevitable peer pressure.
“You’re actually helping your child by having an adult in the house or a neighbor stopping by, because you’re giving your child an out,” Greenberg explains. “Kids get really scared, and they’re going to be secretly grateful that you helped them,” especially with social media‘s ability to turn a seemingly innocent party into something that is out of a kid’s control.
As for what can be learned after a child makes the mistake of throwing a party that results in financial disaster? Greenberg says the bottom line is that “young teenage children and unlimited credit cards are a dangerous recipe.”
“These parents should work out a plan for the teen to pay,” she says of the 14-year-old Canadian girl, adding that this extreme example should serve as a talking point for parents everywhere. “Show your kids the article, and ask them what they think.
They want to know that you value what they say. They want to feel relevant and want to be heard.”

Deep State – Shadow Government Revealed
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 03-15-2018, 04:10 PM - Forum: Political News and more - Replies (1)

Field McConnell of Abel Danger suggests the D.C. Swamp will never be drained as long as the Senior Executive Service exists; there are simply too many "players" in the game, all thanks to Obama, who expanded the existing program of Deep State managers and appointed over 7,000 of the 8,156 bosses.
A new POTUS only gets to name over 4,000 political appointees when they are elected, so this leaves a rather large number of "swamp critters" still in operation.  Some call these left-overs Obama's Army.

[Image: obama-senior-executive-service-meme.jpg?w=980]

There are four basic types of appointments:
 • Presidential Appointments with Senate Confirmation: There are 1,212 senior leaders, including the Cabinet secretaries and their deputies, the heads of most independent agencies and ambassadors, who must be confirmed by the Senate.

 • Presidential Appointments without Senate Confirmation: There are 353 positions which make up much of the White House staff, although they are also scattered throughout many of the smaller federal agencies.

 • Non-career Senior Executive Service: Members of the Senior Executive Service (SES) work in key positions just below the top presidential appointees, bridging the gap between the political leaders and the civil service throughout the federal government.

 • Schedule C Appointments: There are 1,403 Schedule C appointees who serve in a confidential or policy role. They range from schedulers and confidential assistants to policy experts.

  A New Space Force.

Quote:Trump pushes for new 'space force'
OK, either he doesn't know about our Secret Space program,,,,, or he think we need to let our Armed Forces know so they can recruit.

Quote:Washington (AFP) - President Donald Trump said Tuesday he wants the US military to create a new "space force," adding to the Pentagon's current ground, navy and air forces.

Trump told troops at the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station near San Diego that the new group would be able to encapsulate the "tremendous amount" of work the military and government are doing in space-related defense.

"My new national strategy for space recognizes that space is a war-fighting domain, just like the land, air and sea," Trump said.

"We may even have a space force... We have the air force, we'll have the space force, we'll have the army, the navy.

"Maybe we'll have to do that. That could happen," he said.

Since taking office, Trump has frequently touted his support for the US military and placed high-ranking generals in top White House and cabinet posts.

Last year some legislators pushed a bill in Congress that included a provision to establish a new branch of the military dubbed the Space Corps.

ZERO Collusion Between Trump Campaign And Russia
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 03-13-2018, 11:41 PM - Forum: America's President D. Trump - Replies (5)

Most of us already knew this, but I'll post it anyway just to remove any doubt.   tinysure

Quote:The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence said Monday it found “no evidence of collusion, coordination or conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russians,” as the Russia investigation starts to come to a close.

Quote:“We have found no evidence of collusion, coordination, or conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russians.”
– House Intelligence Committee, Majority Staff

Over 300,000 documents and 70+ people have been analyzed and ZERO evidence has been found. This marks the beginning of the end for the Democrats witch hunt into President Trump and his campaign.
The political implications from this announcement are astronomical as the Democrats key campaign issue, Russian collusion, is gone.
Stay tuned for more updates.

Apparently, CNN and other left wing news stations didn't consider this news worth mentioning.  Fox blasted them for it too.   tinylaughing

Quote:“Fox & Friends” slammed other media outlets on Tuesday for devoting little time to the news that the House GOP investigation found no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

On Monday, the House Intelligence Committee announced that it would be ending its investigation into Russian election meddling after finding no evidence of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.

But apparently, the nightly news didn't want to talk about it, at least according to the hosts of the Fox News show.
“It’s just sad,” said Steve Doocy. “It’s called a news channel, do the news!”

As Brian Kilmeade tallied up the time devoted to the breaking news, the hosts weren't too happy about the results. From the nightly programs of ABC, CBS and NBC combined, Kilmeade said that less than a minute of airtime was focused on the House investigation's findings.

“How many times have you tuned in to one of the big nightly newscasts and they've talked about Russia, Russia, Russia,” Doocy asked. “Trump was in bed with the Russians about this and that. Many, many times. And, yet, when the news breaks that the Republicans on the House Intel committee have found there was no collusion, less than one minute on the big three. Which is extraordinary.”

The hosts discussed the findings of the House investigation, which found that Russian groups did interfere in the 2016 presidential election but said that the meddling wasn't designed to benefit Trump and that no collusion was found in either the Trump or Clinton campaigns.

Kilmeade acknowledged that the news was discussed on MSNBC during Rachel Maddow's interview with Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, but Doocy wasn't satisfied.

The Fox hosts spent the rest of the segment slamming the networks over what they chose to cover instead of the Russia investigation news, including lottery winners and March Madness.

It will be interesting to see if CNN and others EVER mention this.   tinywondering

Trump fires Rex Tillerson as secretary of state.
Posted by: BIAD - 03-13-2018, 10:13 PM - Forum: Breaking News - No Replies

Quote:Trump fires Rex Tillerson as secretary of state.

'US President Donald Trump has fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson via Twitter, naming CIA Director Mike Pompeo
as his replacement.

Mr Tillerson's spokesman said he only learned he was out of a job when he saw the president's tweet thanking him for
his service as top US diplomat.

The former ExxonMobil chief had a series of public rifts with the White House since he was appointed last year.
Mr Trump also named Gina Haspel to become the CIA's first female director.

What was Trump's reason?
Speaking to reporters outside the White House on Tuesday, Mr Trump said his differences with Mr Tillerson came down
to personal "chemistry".
"We got along actually quite well, but we disagreed on things," said the president.
"When you look at the Iran deal, I think it's terrible. I guess he thought it was OK.
"I wanted to either break it or do something and he felt a little bit differently, so we were not really thinking the same.

"With Mike, Mike Pompeo, we have a very similar thought process. I think it's going to go very well.
"Rex is a very good man, I like Rex a lot."
Mr Tillerson is the latest in a long list of senior officials who have either resigned or been fired since Mr Trump took office.

How was Tillerson fired?
The Department of State said Mr Tillerson had not spoken to the president and was "unaware of the reason" for his firing.
Under Secretary Steve Goldstein said: "The Secretary had every intention of staying because of the critical progress made
in national security."

Mr Goldstein himself was fired later on Tuesday by the White House.
Mr Tillerson said later in a news conference that he had received a call from the president on Air Force One after midday,
about three hours after Mr Trump fired him via tweet.

He added he would finish his term on 31 March and would "return to private life as a private citizen".
According to the Associated Press, White House chief of staff John Kelly called Mr Tillerson on Friday and advised him to
watch out for a presidential tweet about him.
Mr Kelly did not tell Mr Tillerson when the tweet would be posted or what it might say, reports the news agency.

The secretary of state was on an official tour of Africa last week when he was caught unawares by Mr Trump's agreement to
meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The top US diplomat's team said he was feeling unwell on Saturday and later in the
weekend the state department said he would cut short his tour by a day.

"I felt like, look, I just need to get back," Mr Tillerson told reporters on his plane home, reports the Washington Post.

The 65-year-old arrived back in Washington before dawn on Tuesday to learn he was out of a job a few hours later...'
