What IS the truth about the Enfield Poltergeist?
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 10-14-2018, 01:10 AM - Forum: The Paranormal World - Replies (6)

Anyone need to get in the mood for Halloween?  This story should do it!

It is said to be a case that still 40 years later has not been debunked.  Some really scary things went on with this family in their home in Enfield, North London.  Like, when the deep raspy voice of an old man came out of an 11 year old girl, things being tossed across the room by unseen hands, and voices heard when no one was there.  tinysurprised

Quote:The rasping male voice sent a chill through the room. Hauntingly, it delivered a message from beyond the grave, describing in graphic detail the moment of death.
‘Just before I died, I went blind, and then I had an ’aemorrhage and I fell asleep and I died in the chair in the corner downstairs.’
The eerie voice — which can still be heard on audio tapes today — is purportedly that of Bill Wilkins. The recording was made in Enfield, North London, in the Seventies, several years after his death.

[Image: 27EFC0F700000578-2054842-image-m-2_1429872235453.jpg]
Janet Hodgson, aged 11 at the time, appeared to be possessed. It could have been a scene from the film The Exorcist - but it was real

Most horrifying of all, however, was that the voice was coming from the body of an 11-year-old girl, Janet Hodgson. She appeared to be possessed. It could have been a scene from the film The Exorcist — but it was real.
What was going on? This was the case of the Enfield Poltergeist, which held the nation spellbound 30 years ago, puzzling policemen, psychics, experts in the occult and hardened reporters alike.

It involved levitation, furniture being moved through the air, and flying objects swirling towards witnesses. There were cold breezes, physical assaults, graffiti, water appearing on the floor, and even claims of matches spontaneously bursting into flame.

A policewoman even signed an affidavit that she had seen a chair move. There were more than 30 witnesses to the strange incidents.
Most inexplicably, the young girl at the centre of the events seemingly acted as the mouthpiece for Bill Wilkins, a foul-mouthed, grumpy old man who had died in the house many years before. His son contacted investigators to confirm the details of his story.
The events unfolded for more than a year behind the door of an ordinary-looking semi-detached council house, on a suburban street filled with similar houses, and left those they touched permanently scarred.
Naturally, many questioned whether it was all a hoax — but no explanation other than the paranormal has ever been convincingly put forward.

The events unfolded for more than a year behind the door of an ordinary-looking semi-detached council house
Now, the episode is to be revisited in a film, planned for release at Halloween next year.

Just what happened in Enfield, then, all those years ago? Where are the Hodgsons now, and have they escaped their ghosts? Could they have made the whole episode up? And who lives at 284 Green Street now?

The story, as the Hodgson family told it, begins in 1977. Peggy Hodgson was unusual, at the time, in that she was a single mother to four children — Margaret, 12, Janet, 11, Johnny, ten, and Billy, seven — having split from their father.

It was the evening of August 30, 1977, and Mrs Hodgson was keen to get her children into bed. She heard Janet complaining from upstairs that her and her brothers’ beds were wobbling.
Mrs Hodgson told her daughter to stop mucking around. The following evening, however, there was an altogether more bizarre disturbance.

Mrs Hodgson heard a crash from upstairs. Cross, she went to tell her children to settle down.

Entering their bedroom, with Janet’s Starsky & Hutch posters on the wall, Mrs Hodgson saw the chest of drawers move. She pushed it back, but found that it was being propelled towards the door by an invisible force.
It seemed as if some supernatural presence was trying to trap the family in the room with the heavy oak chest.

Many years later, Janet would tell a Channel 4 documentary: ‘It started in a back bedroom, the chest of drawers moved, and you could hear shuffling. Mum said: “I want you to pack it in.”

‘We told her what was going on, and she came to see it for herself. She saw the chest of drawers moving. When she tried to push it back, she couldn’t.’

Janet’s sister Margaret explained how the activity increased.

‘There were strange little noises in the house, you couldn’t make out what was going on. None of us got slept.
‘We put on our dressing gowns and slippers and went next door.’
The family appealed for help from their neighbours, Vic and Peggy Nottingham. Vic, a burly builder, went to investigate.

He says: ‘I went in there and I couldn’t make out these noises — there was a knocking on the wall, in the bedroom, on the ceiling. I was beginning to get a bit frightened.’

[Image: 27EFC0EE00000578-2054842-image-m-9_1429872311775.jpg]
Most of the activity centred on 11-year-old Janet. She went into violent trances, which were awful to behold

Margaret adds: ‘He said: “I don’t know what to do.” I’d never seen a big man like that looking scared.’
The Hodgsons called the police, who proved to be similarly mystified. WPC  Carolyn Heeps saw a chair move.
She said at the time: ‘A large armchair moved, unassisted, 4 ft across the floor.’

She inspected the chair for hidden wires, but could find no explanation for what she had seen.
Eventually, the officers left, telling the family that the incidents were not a police matter, as they couldn’t find anyone breaking the law.

Next, the Hodgsons contacted the Press. Daily Mirror photographer Graham Morris, who visited the house, says: ‘It was chaos, things started flying around, people were screaming.’

Some of the events were captured on camera, and the images are disturbing. One shows Janet’s elfin form apparently being thrown across the room.
In others, her face is distorted in pain.

The BBC went to the house, but the crew found the metal components in their tape equipment had been twisted, and recordings erased.
Next, the family sought help from the Society for Psychical Research (SPR). It sent investigators Maurice Grosse and Guy Lyon Playfair, a poltergeist expert who subsequently wrote a book, This House Is Haunted, about the affair.

The author Will Storr spoke to Grosse, who has since died, when researching his own book Will Storr vs The Supernatural, which also features the case. Grosse told him: ‘As soon as I got there, I realised that the case was real because the family was in a bad state. Everybody was in chaos.

‘When I first got there, nothing happened for a while. Then I experienced Lego pieces flying across the room, and marbles, and the extraordinary thing was, when you picked them up they were hot.
‘I was standing in the kitchen and a T-shirt leapt off the table and flew into the other side of the room while I was standing by it.’

The investigators found themselves caught in a maelstrom of apparently psychic activity, with every poltergeist trick thrown at them. Sofas levitated, furniture spun round and was flung across the room, and the family would be hurled out of their beds at night.

[Image: 27EFC0FE00000578-2054842-image-m-10_1429872318845.jpg]
The investigators found themselves caught in a maelstrom of apparently psychic activity, with every poltergeist trick thrown at them

One day, Maurice and a visiting neighbour found one of the children shouting: ‘I can’t move! It’s holding my leg!’ They had to wrestle the child from what all involved insisted was the grip of invisible hands.
The ongoing knocking was one of the most chilling aspects of the case. It would run down the wall, fading in and out as it apparently played an unnerving game with the family — who became so scared that they slept in the same room, with the light on.

Most of the activity centred on 11-year-old Janet. She went into violent trances, which were awful to behold. On one occasion, the iron fireplace in her bedroom was wrenched from the wall by unseen forces.
Family members also claim to have seen her levitating — floating clean across the room.

She told Channel 4: ‘I felt used by a force that nobody understands. I really don’t like to think about it too much. I’m not sure the poltergeist was truly “evil”. It was almost as if it wanted to be part of our family.
'It didn’t want to hurt us. It had died there and wanted to be at rest. The only way it could communicate was through me and my sister.’

Some cast doubt on the events, however. Two SPR experts caught the children bending spoons themselves, and questioned why no one was allowed in the same room as Janet when she was using her gruff voice, apparently that of Bill Wilkins.

Indeed, Janet admitted that they fabricated some of the occurrences.
She told ITV News in 1980: ‘Oh yeah, once or twice (we faked phenomena), just to see if Mr Grosse and Mr Playfair would catch us. They always did.’

Now aged 45, Janet lives in Essex with her husband, a retired milkman.
She told me: ‘I wasn’t very happy to hear about the film, I didn’t know anything about it. My dad has just died, and it really upset me to think of all this being raked over again.’

She describes the poltergeist activity as traumatic.
‘It was an extraordinary case. It’s one of the most recognised cases of paranormal activity in the world. But, for me, it was quite daunting. I think it really left its mark, the activities, the newspaper attention, the different people in and out of the house. It wasn’t a normal childhood.’

Asked how much of the phenomena at Green Street was faked, she says: ‘I’d say 2 per cent.’
She also admitted playing with an Ouija board with her sister, just before the activity flared up at the house.
She says she was unaware that she went into trances, until she was shown pictures.

‘I recall being very distressed by the photos when I was a child, I was very upset.
‘I knew when the voices were happening, of course, it felt like something was behind me all of the time. They did all sorts of tests, filling my mouth with water and so on, but the voices still came out.’

The story is quite long, so continue reading from the Source Article.

Mind-Control for Drones in the Works
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 10-13-2018, 03:36 PM - Forum: UFOs, Aliens and Universal Questions - No Replies

We have all heard about the alien craft that are driven using only mind control, right?  Well now it appears we humans have learned enough from our space brothers to try it out on our own craft.

We will start out small, using drones and a microchip placed in the brain to communicate.

Quote:The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has tested an implant that allows an operator to simultaneously control, with their mere thoughts, up to three unmanned aerial vehicles.

The technology could one day lead to a direct interface between human beings and UAVs.
But full mind-control for drones is still a long way off. Loosely controlling one small UAV is one thing. Directly controlling several sophisticated drones, with full two-way communication, is quite another.

The mind-control trials took place in Pittsburgh between June 2016 and January 2017, according to DARPA. Using what the agency called a “bidirectional neural interface,” a volunteer named Nathan Copeland was able to simultaneously steer a simulated lead UAV and maintain formation of two additional simulated aircraft in a flight simulator, said Tim Kilbride, a DARPA spokesperson.

Copeland, who is partially paralyzed, never actually steered a real drone using only his thoughts. Instead, he channeled his thoughts through a medical implant embedded in his skull, which used electroencephalogram, or EEG, to interface with a computer simulation of a drone navigating an obstacle course, all while two robotic wingmen trailed behind it.

“Nathan’s task was to exercise vertical and lateral control to fly the lead aircraft through a series of hoops positioned in the center of the screen, while also maintaining/correcting the lateral course of the two support aircraft through their own hoops positioned in shifting locations at the top of the screen,” Kilbride explained.

DARPA’s tech translates specific thoughts into code that a drone can understand. The drone in turn can scan its environment, detect an obstacle and alert the operator. The operator’s brain translates the drone’s return signal as a “haptic response.” In other words, a strong feeling.

With today’s tech it’s only possible for a user to vaguely communicate with one drone at a time. And that’s not the tech’s only problem.

“The big challenge is you’re talking about interfacing with the human brain—that’s not a trivial thing,” said Bradley Greger, a neural engineer at Arizona State University. “It’s a big deal to implant something into the brain.”
DARPA is trying to minimize that risk. In February 2016 the agency announced the first successful tests, on animals, of a tiny sensor that travels through blood vessels, lodges in the brain and records neural activity.

The so-called “stentrode,” a combination stent and electrode, could help researchers solve one of the most vexing problems with human-drone interfacing. How to insert a transmitter into someone’s brain without also drilling a hole in their head.

But even a noninvasive interface could run up against a major obstacle. “The other big challenge is the management and interpretation of the huge amounts of information you get,” Greger said. “You’d need a Google-level I.T. structure to manage and process it.”

If and when it reliably works, the drone-brain interface could have profound implications for the world’s air forces. UAV crews would no longer need to sit in trailers, stare at screens and operate their machines using joysticks and keyboards. They could just think. And their drones would obey.

  [VIT2018] The Many veils
Posted by: 727Sky - 10-13-2018, 10:07 AM - Forum: Rogue's Writers Contests - Replies (2)

Her veils were so thin and transparent that she might as well have been totally undressed as she moved to the music. The musical beat was reinforced by the primitive drums so it was easy to be drawn into her hypnotic movements and be totally lost in her beauty.

I tried to tear my eyes from her and look at the other onlookers who were also transfixed with her beauty and poise; they were all mesmerized and focused as I had feared I would become .

I carried a small mirror which by turning my head and holding the mirror just so I could look at her true image. What I beheld in the mirror was a true demon goddess that was known by my people to suck the souls and life out of those whom she merely touched.

I could not risk making a move against her for I would have been torn apart by all the adoring onlookers of her dance if I were not successful.

I waited while she started moving from table to table as she caressed a patrons cheek, hand, or brushed an outstretched arm. Within seconds they would slump over and stop breathing but no one else seemed to notice as all eyes were fixed on her body, eyes, and face.

I waited while avoiding direct eye contact with her and her beautiful body movements.

Finally she was the next table over and as she turned her back I ran my Rune Dagger into the side of her neck all the way to the hilt. There was no scream from her throat for it was full of the Rune Dagger as she collapsed upon the floor. Her true form was revealed even before she hit the floor for only the briefest moment. Whatever you might call this thing then turned into a greyish smoke before disappearing totally.

I retrieved my Rune Dagger and noticed there were only five of us left alive in the entire bar and restaurant; one of the living was the owner bartender.

His eyes were the size of a serving plate as he said to me, "Mister, for the rest of my life you will always have something to eat and drink at my house or business. Thank you".

"I just wish I could have acted sooner," was my reply.

It has been my experience that if the demon is killed quickly enough the souls she has taken can find their way back into their once living bodies. It was starting to look like this time would be no different as I began to see signs of life in those who only moments before had been totally dead.

I left the Good Inn with a bag full of coins and many well wishes for my continued journey.

If this keeps up I will not have to buy food within a 500 mile radius !

As I age I should start watching my weight for the food is good and the drinks are always satisfying after a proper day of devil slaying..

Union Rules & Hookers...

A dedicated Teamsters union worker was attending a convention in Las Vegas and decided to check out the local brothels. When he got to the first one, he asked the Madam, "Is this a union house?"

"No," she replied, "I'm sorry it isn't."

"Well, if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?"

"The house gets $80 and the girls get $20," she answered

Offended at such unfair dealings, the union man stomped off down the street in search of a  more equitable, hopefully unionized shop. His search continued until finally he reached a brothel where the Madam responded, "Why yes sir, this is a union house.

We observe all union rules."

The man asked, "And if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?" "The girls get $80 and the house gets $20."

"That's more like it!" the union man said.

He handed the Madam $100, looked around the room, and pointed to a stunningly attractive blonde.

"I'd like her," he said.

"I'm sure you would, sir," said the Madam. Then she gestured to a 92-year old woman in the corner, "but Ethel here has 67 years seniority and according to union rules, she's next."

Quote:A farmer named Paddy had a car accident. He was hit by a truck owned by the Eversweet Company.
In court, the Eversweet Company's hot-shot solicitor was questioning Paddy.

'Didn't you say to the police at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine?'
 asked the solicitor.
Paddy responded: 'Well, I'll tell you what happened. I'd just loaded my fav'rit cow, Bessie, into da... '

'I didn't ask for any details',
the solicitor interrupted. 'Just answer the question. Did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'?'

Paddy said, 'Well, I'd just got Bessie into da trailer and I was drivin' down da road.... '

The solicitor interrupted again and said, ‘Your Honour, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the police on the scene that he was fine. Now several weeks after the accident, he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question. '

By this time, the Judge was fairly interested in Paddy's answer and said to the solicitor: 'I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favourite cow, Bessie'.
Paddy thanked the Judge and proceeded. ‘Well as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my fav'rit cow, into de trailer and was drivin' her down de road when this huge Eversweet truck and trailer came tundering tru a stop sign and hit me trailer right in da side. I was trown into one ditch and Bessie was trown into da udder. By Jaysus I was hurt, very bad like, and didn't want to move. However, I could hear old Bessie moanin' and groanin'. I knew she was in terrible pain just by her groans.

Shortly after da accident, a policeman on a motorbike turned up. He could hear Bessie moanin' and groanin' too, so he went over to her. After he looked at her, and saw her condition, he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes.

Den da policeman came across de road, gun still in hand, looked at me, and said, 'How are you feelin'?'

Phil Bredesen Of Tennessee Lets It Slip.

Quote:O’Keefe Strikes Again=> Video Captures TN Dem Candidate Phil Bredesen in Classic ‘Bait and Switch’.

'A new undercover video from Project Veritas Action features staff from Democrat Phil Bredesen’s U.S. Senate
campaign admitting that he has been decieving voters and attempting to appear more moderate than he actually is.

Bredesen, who was recently endorsed by Taylor Swift, has infamously claimed that he would have voted to confirm
Justice Brett Kavanaugh -but his campaign says it is just a vote grab.

When asked by a PVA journalist if he would have really supported Kavanaugh, staffer Maria Amalla said that he would
not have. “No, it’s a political move… He thinks that like we’re down like half a point right now. It’s like really close and
we’re losing by a point or two.

So he thinks that if like by saying this he’s appealing to more moderate republicans and he’ll get more of them to vote
for us.” “I was so confused because I just can’t believe he would actually vote [for Kavanaugh],” the PVA journalist continued.

“He wouldn’t. But he’s saying he would… Which I don’t know if it makes it worse or better. No, it makes it better…” staffer
Will Stewart added. Amalla said that the claim that he would support Kavanaugh was an effort to win over Republicans
because he is not doing very well in rural areas.

Stewart also said that Tennessee voters are “ignorant” for supporting the confirmation of now Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
When Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe attempted to get a comment from Bredesen’s campaign manager he
was reportedly assaulted.

James O’Keefe Tweet.
"BOOM, stay tuned... this is going to be intense! I just tried asking the campaign manager
for comment and got shoved! They are caught red handed!"

Sean Hannity Tweet,
"TICK TOCK… Just how low is the Left willing to go to regain control of Congress this fall?

The Merry People Of Britain... Maybe Not.
Posted by: BIAD - 10-09-2018, 02:39 PM - Forum: General News and Events - Replies (3)

In a country where the Moors murderers were perceived as the most evil of people in the UK and that their
horrible actions would scar the minds of its subjects for years to come, here's just another story from an
empire that's seen better days.

Drug-dealing...? A standard industry in Great Britain. The act of torture...? Well, one goes hand-in-hand with
the other. Welcome to Multiculturalism.

Quote:Drugs torture victim forced to sing during beatings.

'Two men who beat and scalded their victim, forcing him to sing and dance naked to Whitney Houston songs
in a "degrading" assault, have been jailed.

Sakhawat Hussain, 35, and Andre Clarke, 30, poured boiling water over the man's genitals and made him
perform the singer's hits "for their own amusement", a court heard. The pair, who attacked the man in a drugs row,
also threatened his pregnant girlfriend, Leeds Crown Court heard.
Both were jailed for 15 years.

Andre Clarke and Sakhawat Hussain beat, scalded and tormented their victim and threatened his pregnant girlfriend.

They held the 32-year-old prisoner and used axes, a baseball bat, a hammer and a knife to inflict serious injuries
upon him, the court heard.

'Humiliating'
Prosecutors said the pair first visited the man at his home in Healey, Batley, on 23 January following a dispute over
2.2lb (1kg) of cocaine. Clarke held a knife to the victim's pregnant girlfriend's stomach and said he would "cut it out"
if they were not given drugs.

The pair returned three days later, with father-of-five Hussain blaming the man for the alleged theft of £300,000 of cocaine.
Three members of the man's family, including his young son, were then held captive, with the victim himself being taken to
his cellar and beaten for several hours.

He was then bundled into a car and driven to a flat in Batley Carr, Dewsbury, where he was stripped naked and boiling
water poured on his genitals. While at the property, Hussain and Clarke forced the victim to sing and dance to Whitney
Houston songs during the "humiliating" attack.
He only escaped at about 04:00 GMT the next morning.

'Lasting scars'
The court also heard the woman gave birth just eight days after the first visit from Hussain and Clarke.
Sentencing, Judge Robin Mairs said the pair had used threats and coercion "to engender obedience".
"You had no compunction to inflicting fear and terror upon the victim and his wider family," he said.
"Physically and mentally, there is no question that this sustained and vicious attack left scars on him and will leave lasting
scars upon him."

Following a five-week trial, a jury convicted Hussain, of Hawthorne Avenue, Batley, and Clarke, 30, Wood Lane, Newsome,
Huddersfield, of affray, kidnapping, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and two counts of false imprisonment...'

'Rose McGowan, one of the most vocal advocates of the #MeToo movement, now says the revolutionary
reckoning that swept through Hollywood the past year is "bull."

McGowan, 45, helped spark the movement last fall by going on the record with sexual assault allegations
against disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. The actress said Weinstein raped her in a hotel
room in 1997 and blacklisted her career.

But days after the #MeToo movement's first anniversary, the "Scream" actress said Hollywood's battle
against sexual assault in the entertainment industry is only skin-deep. "It’s a lie. It’s a Band-Aid lie to make
them feel better," McGowan said during an interview with The Sunday Times in the U.K.

"I know these people, I know they’re lily-livered, and as long as it looks good on the surface, to them, that’s
enough.” McGowan claimed she was shunned by the #MeToo community, frequently left out of the survivors’
brunches and campaign lunches, despite being one of the most outspoken members.

organizations have supported me?"

The "Charmed" alum vowed to never work in Hollywood again, adding that although she doesn't agree with
President Donald Trump's politics, she does share something in common with his supporters.

McGowan said. “It’s crap, and they know it is deep down, but they’re living an empty life, and to me that’s their
punishment. They get to live the lives they live.”

McGowan doubled down on past criticism of Meryl Streep, calling it "literally impossible” for the Oscar-winning
actress to be completely in the dark on Weinstein's predatory behavior.
The actress also renounced support of Hillary Clinton for the same reason.

On Twitter Wednesday, McGowan marked one year since coming forward with allegations against Weinstein
on Twitter: "Today marks the anniversary of one of the hardest years of my life. It’s been a year of triggering for
so many. I’m proud of us."...'
