The Mask - Good or Evil? No, not the movie.
Posted by: Sol - 07-30-2020, 03:12 PM - Forum: A Rogue's Opinion Piece... - Replies (35)

Is the mask mandatory where you live?

I'm asking because, you see, it IS mandatory where I live and the side effects are worth a discussion.

Oh I'm not talking about health issues that you can get from a mask but the overall stigmas and paranoia that has come from this new unregulated law. I say unregulated because the business people owning stores have to implement it and THEY will get fined if it's not, not the customer.

So, in other words; it's a freakin' free for all..

First, there are those new unofficial mask policemen and policewomen (being polite here, they're more like the Gestapo) who will tell you your mask is too big, too small, not set properly, doesn't seem clean enough, is made of the wrong material and blah blah blah. The more paranoid they are, the worse your mask seems to be.

Just yesterday, a customer was refused service at the counter of a liquor store, here where I live, because his nose was exposed. I shit you not.

The cashier (whom I'll subtly call "Klaus the Nazi") just told the guy "put that mask over your nose or I won't serve you.."

To which the customer replied "The hell is wrong with you? Listen buddy, even if I'd sneeze, it'd still have to go through my mask, through the plexiglass between us and then through your mask..so..you can't be serious?"

The cashier threatened to call the police.

How crazy is that? Like, when is too much just too much?

At the beginning of this pandemic (debatable), we were told that masks are health hazards and shouldn't be worn. Then we were told that masks are recommended in certain conditions. Now, they're like a fucking life or death scenario.

Some people are so scared now, I have NEVER seen anything like this. And some other people have become their own Marvel heroes of righteousness..Legends in their own minds.

I was at the grocery store yesterday, at the counter, there was a woman in front of me,and I had this 6 feet distance between us. I moved my cart ONE FOOT closer to start putting my things on the conveyor belt and that woman in front me (a woman in her forties that looked like that beautiful lady from "Throw Momma off the train") just pushed my cart back with one hand and put her other hand in the air, like a stop sign... I was invading her 6 feet self inflicted safe zone bubble apparently..by a few inches.

I just looked at her and couldn't find something to say. I was just like...wow...

Fear. Unfounded, baseless, delusional fear.

I don't have a problem wearing a mask in public areas, I don't like it but I comply.

I don't have a problem washing my hands when I get into a store. I don't like it but I comply.

I don't have a problem keeping a distance from others. Reasonable distance is fine by me.

I DO have a problem with people that have their self inflicted fears take over them, to the point where both butt cheeks are so tight that farts can't get through.

C'mon. This isn't the black pest. It isn't the plague.

But thanks to our elected officials, thanks to the WHO, thanks to our health organizations, thanks to the Medias that capitalize on that fear for ratings, for many, this has now become a life or death scenario.

Which it is not.

2020, causing irrational fears near you. Enjoy.

I just hate it.

Free Seeds - Brushing Scam Or Something Else
Posted by: NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-30-2020, 02:15 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (13)

I first heard about the reports of people receiving packages of seeds in the mail that they did not order or request, from an internet news feed. I really didn't pay any attention to it. When the local news started reporting on our local residents receiving these packages, it more than piqued my interest. Seeds don't mean much to people outside of the country, but a lot of folk in the country are very dependent on seeds and agriculture. So I did a little research on the mystery seeds.

Quote:JACKSONVILLE, Fla.– More than 600 Floridians have reported being part of what the U.S. Department of Agriculture is calling a “brushing” scam in which they received un-ordered seed packages.

https://www.news4jax.com/news/local/2020...hing-scam/

That led me to want a better understanding what a brushing scam is. I found this.

Quote:So, what is a brushing a scam, and how can it impact you?A manufacturer might send you free stuff either to boost their sales or to be able to put in "fake" 5-star reviews about their product. Simply put, a brushing scam happens when someone sends you free stuff in the mail, or even sends you empty packages.

https://www.foolproofme.org/articles/360...the-carpet

Okay, so now I have a better understanding of what brushing is, but I just can't see how it would generate enough profit for anyone, to send out thousands of seeds to people that didn't order them, to make it worth the investment. I know that brushing is just one of the theories out there about what may actually be going on, and some are quite interesting. My biggest concern at this point, is how large amounts of anything, can come into the US and be distributed to such a degree, without the authorities being able to trace it.

It mores than frustrates me that they spend so much time and money tracing law abiding citizens of this country, and they can't track down the people or entity that is dumping mysterious items all over the US.

I ran over our dog Part IV. The visit before the OP.
Posted by: Bally002 - 07-30-2020, 10:15 AM - Forum: Pets Place - Replies (37)

Well after work today 'true love' and I went to the surgery to pay a visit to Girlie.

The staff led us into a room where she was housed in a big pen.  The staff member left and we opened the gate.  Girlie hopped out and greeted us.  Head on our laps and lifting her front paw up for us to pet it.

She snuggled into us on the floor and I gave her the hugs as requested.  She looked good.  Her vigor and color had returned but of course that leg was bandaged up and she couldn't put weight on it at all.  We chatted with her, got licks and chin rubs.  She whined lightly.  It was good to see her again.

Time flew and we had to leave.  Sadly we put her back in her pen , blew kisses and walked out to the Vet who gave us a briefing.  Girlie started whining real loud and yelping from the room we had just left.  Vet said it was good we visited as they had given her 'anti depressants' .  I never knew that.

She looked good.  My eldest son who lives nearby the surgery will pop in tomorrow morning before her operation.

Will be thinking of her when I get up tomorrow.

My regards,

Bally:)

Big Grin Pelosi Denies Calling Fed Cops Storm Troopers Calls Bill Barr A Blob
Posted by: xuenchen - 07-30-2020, 12:26 AM - Forum: Political News and more - Replies (9)

Speaker of the House (and obvious mental case) gets caught up in some desperation after getting called out for a comment she made about Federal Police in those riot cities that Democrats have been fueling up.

She apparently tweeted that comment and now must deny and cheat and lie to cover it up.

Of course she'll get all the support she needs from millions of her brainwashed corralled supporters [Image: LoL.gif]

Quote:Nancy Pelosi (D-Planet Zog) now says she did not call the Federal Police “Storm Troopers,” but that they acted like Storm Troopers.

Oh, ok, got it. That clears everything up.

Now waiting for Pelosi to deny she called the AG a blob. Will she say Bill Barr just acted like a blob?

Via Washington Examiner.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attempted to clarify her description of
federal police in Portland as “storm troopers” following criticism from Attorney General William Barr by claiming she only said they “acted” like storm troopers….

Pelosi’s comment is at odds with a tweet she posted on July 17. She wrote: “Unidentified stormtroopers. Unmarked cars. Kidnapping protesters and causing severe injuries in response to graffiti. These are not the actions of a democratic republic. @DHSgov’s actions in Portland undermine its mission. Trump & his stormtroopers must be stopped.”….

During the MSNBC appearance, Pelosi called the treatment of protesters in Washington’s Lafayette Square in June a “disgrace” before referring to Barr as a “blob.”….

All in all, some 12,000 troops slated to leave Germany for other European locations or return to the United States.

Police Agencies Pull Out Of Agreements To Guard DNC Convention
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 07-29-2020, 06:10 PM - Forum: Political News and more - Replies (2)

This is what happens when you take away the tools to control the violent masses; people quit, or refuse to work in highly dangerous circumstances.
I've had my own personal experiences with these tactics, so I know first hand that when you take away the control the guardians have over keeping the peace, the masses become "un-peaceful".  ( I know that's not a real word.)  The facility where I used to work can't keep staff. The people there stay because it's the only job they can get, and they are overworked to the point of exhaustion. That in itself makes for a dangerous situation.

So, now the police have backed out of protecting the DNC conference because they feel it's too dangerous for their personal safety.
Live and learn!

Over 100 Police Agencies Pull Out Of Agreements To Guard DNC Convention

Quote:More than 100 law enforcement agencies have reportedly pulled out of security agreements to send personnel to help with security at the Democratic National Convention next month in part because they are concerned about recent efforts to limit law enforcement’s use of tear gas and pepper spray in responding to violent riots.

Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales was ordered last month to change the department’s policies to ban the use of tear gas and pepper spray.

Before anyone starts yelling about using tear gas and pepper spray on citizens, keep in mind that if these people didn't become violent in the first place, it wouldn't be necessary to use it. But, these are spoiled brats who have always gotten their way, and never had any real punishment for bad behavior, so they act like it's some great injustice when the police fight back.

Quote:“Since the Milwaukee order was issued, more than 100 law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin and across the country decided against coming to Milwaukee, Morales told WTMJ-TV on Tuesday,” The Associated Press reported. “They were concerned with directives placed on the police department, including not allowing tear gas or pepper spray, he said.”

In Wisconsin, Franklin Police Chief Rick Oliva said, “It is apparent there is a lack of commitment to provide the Milwaukee Police Department with the resources it needs to ensure the safety of peaceful protesters, attendees, citizens and police personnel. I can not send personnel if they are not properly equipped or will not be allowed to engage in appropriate actions which would ensure their safety.”

Waukesha Police Chief Daniel Thompson responded by indicating that his department would not be sending officers to event, saying, “I understand that use of chemical irritants and pepper spray is serious and those are to be used only when legally justified. But when you take that out of the continuum that doesn’t leave the officers much other than getting harmed or using deadly force and that’s not good for any officer or the public.”

Oh well, good luck at the DNC Convention Democrats. You brought this on yourself.

Here I am, in Portlanistan, hanging out at an airport hotel, smoking cigarettes, drinking a glass of wine when I see someone park their SUV, absolutely, perfectly.  Backing in.  I say to myself, "This guy MUST be military".

He gets out, this big guy, with a hand full of trash.  I politely step back from the trash/ashtray and he stops and says, "Don't I know you?"

I say, "Dunno?"

He says, "Weren't you in the Air Force?"

*boom*

He and I partied years ago in Lakenheath RAF in England.  He was a radar operator stationed out of Spain at the time, I was a clumsy biomed in a mobility clinic doing my rounds.

Small friggin' world.
