Yellowstone Nation Park

I just don't think this sounds good at all.
Quakes in Yellowstone National Park since Monday and not one or two But There have been Numerous Quakes.
Not Large but I think they're disturbing, very troubling.
If the Super Calderon of Magma under Yellowstone, Blew,,,, It won't be Global Warming, it's be Global Die Off Time!
But Don't Worry My Friends, They are calling this Normal Activity,,,,, Really!?

Quote:The small earthquake that struck Yellowstone National Park on Thursday night was part of a swarm that has been hitting the area since Monday, scientists say.

The quake was centered near West Yellowstone, but was also felt by people in Gardiner and Bozeman.

“As of 10 a.m. this morning we had located a total of 235 earthquakes in the area,” said Jamie Farrell, University of Utah research professor of seismology.

Yellowstone gets about 1,500 to 2,000 earthquakes every year. About half of those come in earthquake swarms — lots of earthquakes in a small area in a short amount of time.
So this activity is fairly normal, Farrell said.
Most of the earthquakes in this swarm have been small — only four above magnitude 3. Thursday’s 4.5 magnitude earthquake was the only one reported to the U.S. Geological Survey website, meaning people actually felt it.

Not only was Thursday’s quake the largest in the current swarm, it was the largest in the area since March 30, 2014, when a 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit near Norris Geyser Basin, according to a news release from the University of Utah Seismograph Station.

Farrell said the swarm is the effect of normal tectonic stress in the Earth’s crust. As of Friday morning, his the University of Utah seismologists weren’t seeing anything volcanic in nature. Yellowstone National Park is home to a large volcano and the site of the largest and most diverse collection of natural thermal features in the world.

Sounds scary, but nothing we can do about it, so I'm not going to focus on the fear.

I'll "get my house in order" to move on to the next phase of my soul's existence and hope I land in a more positive world.   tinybiggrin

Update:
Quote:Scientists study swarm of Yellowstone earthquakes
I think it's getting closer.
Quote:BUTTE, Mont. - Seismologists are studying a swarm of 500-plus earthquakes that have rattled the Yellowstone Park area since June 12.

Most are centered 8 miles north-northeast of West Yellowstone.

That is just a few miles east of the Hebgen Lake Basin, the site of the historic 1959 quake.  That one measured 7.3 on the Richter scale, killed 28 people and created Quake Lake, near the Gallatin National Forest.

Mike Stickney, of the Earthquake Studies office at Montana Tech, said earthquake swarms are normal this time of year.  He says many are smaller.  When we checked we found dozens that measured under 2.0 on the Richter scale.
After his last statement above, like most Scientist, he Contradicted himself.
Quote:However, Stickney said he hasn’t seen such an extensive swarm of earthquakes in Yellowstone since 2010.
But he stressed each is small enough that no one is in immediate danger.

Stickney told us, “We live in earthquake country.
We can never say that this isn't leading up to something bigger.  But at this point, we have no reason to believe its portending to be anything more drastic."

You can follow this link and track earthquakes in Montana and around the world.

Up Date:
Quote:Updated | Over 800 earthquakes have now been recorded at Yellowstone supervolcano over the last two weeks, with the ongoing swarm taking place on the western edge of the National Park.

But there is virtually no risk of the volcano erupting, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) currently lists the volcano alert level as normal and the aviation color, which lists the potential risk to fights, is at green.
The current earthquake swarm began on June 12. A week later, the USGS put out a statement to say that 464 earthquakes had been recorded, with the largest being magnitude 4.4 “This is the highest number of earthquakes at Yellowstone within a single week in the past five years,” it said.

Question?
Could these quakes be connected?
Quote:TRUCKEE (CBS13) — More than a dozen earthquakes rattled the Sierra Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports at least 16 earthquakes hit the Truckee area since about 2 a.m. The strongest quake was a magnitude-3.9.
Could the earthquakes be linked to all the rain and snow we got last winter? A group of UC Berkeley seismologists says yes.

Update, Update, Update,,,,, it's getting REAL at Yellowstone.
Quote:Fears that deadly Yellowstone supervolcano about to BLOW after 1400 earthquakes hit
YES! Doom On You, Doom On You, Doom On You!!

Quote:YELLOWSTONE volcano has been struck by 1,400 earthquakes in recent weeks, leading to fears that the supervolcano is ready to blow and WIPE OUT life on Earth.

Seismic activity around the Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, US, is not uncommon, but the heaviest swarm in half a decade has people very concerned.

Since June 12, there has been over 1,400 tremors in the region, and experts state that the swarm could go on for another month.

The Yellowstone Caldera supervolcano last erupted 70,000 years ago but a spike in seismic activity around the national park has unsettled nerves.

If the Wyoming volcano were to erupt it would kill an estimated 87,000 people immediately and make two-thirds of the USA immediately uninhabitable. The as the large spew of ash into the atmosphere would block out sunlight and directly affect life beneath it creating a “nuclear winter” and threatening ALL life on earth.

I find this interesting and could be tied into Yellowstone, as I've heard that the Active Lava Tubes can flow for miles underground and connect to other Lava Reservoirs.
Quote:With 8 threatening volcanoes, USGS says California deserves close monitoring
[Image: 460x1240.jpg]
Quote:With the world's top volcanologists heading to Portland, Ore., on Aug. 14 for the first international volcanology assembly held in the U.S. since 1989, the many famous, prominent and dangerous volcanoes of the West Coast will be the subject of field trips and much discussion.

Throughout the Cascade Range to southern California, the West Coast is home to most of the country's highest-threat volcanoes, as ranked by the United State Geological Survey.
And California has its share.

While Mount Shasta unsurprisingly tops USGS's list of very-high threat volcanoes in California, there are seven other volcanic areas in the state that are also young, nervy, jacked up on magma and "likely to erupt."

Scientists know from geophysical and geochemical research that these volcanoes have molten rock, magma, "in their roots," said Margaret Mangan, Scientist-in-Charge at the California Volcano Observatory. "I call them the watch-list volcanoes."

On watch

As listed by the California observatory, the eight fall into three danger categories:
  • Very-high threat: Mount Shasta, Lassen Volcanic Center and Long Valley Volcanic Region
  • High threat: Clear Lake Volcanic Field, Medicine Lake Volcano and Salton Buttes
  • Moderate threat: Ubehebe Crater and Coso Volcanic Field

In 2005, a national team led by John Ewert, a volcanologist with the USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory, established a system for deciding which of the United States' 169 young volcanoes are the most dangerous and most in need of monitoring. In the "Framework for a National Volcano Early Warning System," Ewert's team identified 57 priority volcanoes in the U.S.

Among the 18 "very high threat volcanoes," 11 are along the Cascade Range in three states (Alaska and Hawaii have the others):
  • California: Lassen Volcanic Center, Long Valley Caldera, Mount Shasta
  • Oregon: Crater Lake, Mount Hood, Newberry, South Sister of The Three Sisters
  • Washington: Baker, Glacier Peak, Rainier, St. Helens

Update,,,,,,,

Quote:NASA wants to prevent the Yellowstone super volcano from destroying the US
Yes,,, Destroying America!!!  minusculespooked
Quote:NASA believes the Yellowstone super volcano is a greater threat to life on Earth than any asteroid. So it’s come up with a plan to defuse its explosive potential.
Yes,,, A bigger threat than a Asteroid!

Quote:Yellowstone National Park is the pride of the United States. It's an untouched wilderness. It’s overflowing with scenic landscapes. And its colourful hot pools and geysers attract tens of thousands of visitors every year.

But underneath this beautiful — but thin — skin is a lurking monster.

An enormous pool of magma sits high in the Earth’s crust. It’s been calculated to contain about 500 billion cubic miles of molten rock.
“I was a member of the NASA Advisory Council on Planetary Defense which studied ways for NASA to defend the planet from asteroids and comets,” Brian Wilcox of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) told the BBC. “I came to the conclusion during that study that the super volcano threat is substantially greater than the asteroid or comet threat.”

There are about 20 known super volcanoes on Earth, NASA says.
A major eruption occurs about once every 100,000 years. And these odds are much higher than a repeat of an Earth-changing comet impact of the type that wiped out the dinosaurs.

So NASA tasked a team with figuring out how to prevent one.

Someone check my math for me please -

The volume of a sphere is calculated as (4/3)*pi*r^3

The radius ® of Earth is 3959.8 miles

(4/3)pi*(3959.8^3) = (4/3)pi(62,089,727,515.192) = (4/3)195,060,631,825.119 = 260,080,842,433.492 cubic miles

which is slightly over 260 billion cubic miles... for the volume of the entire planet.

But Yellowstone has nearly TWICE that volume of molten rock contained within it - almost twice the entire Earth, contained within a small portion of Earth.

I think the bigger story here is that NASA has discovered Hammerspace!

To be honest, Yellowstone does scare me a little, in the same way that the possibility of being at ground zero of an asteroid strike spooks me just a little. Damned little chance of it happening in my lifetime, but if it DOES, I know without a doubt that my number is up and my time has come - God has put the cross-hairs on my back Himself!

Still, I had at one time planned to cover my eyes if it went up, but then I thought "well shit - it'll just burn my hands off first in that case, and there my eyes are, all uncovered again!" back to square one at that point, nothing gained.

So I reckon if it happens, there ain't no escaping it, and it was just meant to be - so I'm gonna keep on drinking beer and enjoying life until that time comes!

Even with all the burps, farts, and gurgling that Yellowstone does periodically, the animals are still there. I believe they will be the first indicator that this one specific gurgling that's coming is the real thing. When animals panic and take off, just like the birds in the 2012 movie video clip above, that will be the time to pray.

Another Update!
Quote:An ongoing earthquake swarm at Yellowstone volcano is now one of the biggest ever recorded, with over 2,300 tremors since it began in June.

As of August 30, 2,357 earthquakes had been recorded. The most powerful in recent weeks was magnitude 3.3; it took place on August 21.

The most powerful in the current swarm was a magnitude 4.4, which was recorded on June 15. Most of the earthquakes were in the magnitude 0 or 1 range, with a further 181 recorded at magnitude 2 and 11 at magnitude 3.

Another 53 were less than 0, meaning they were very small events that could be detected only with sensitive earthquake-monitoring instruments.
If you listen to this Government Mouth-Piece, You'll all get killed.

Quote:Jamie Farrell, a research professor at the University of Utah, which is involved in monitoring seismic activity at Yellowstone, told Newsweek that the swarm was “nothing out of the ordinary” and that it had “slowed down significantly but does occasionally have little bursts of activity that lasts for a few hours.”
Now, there are a Reason to be Concerned.
Quote:Still, the ongoing swarm is now one of the longest and largest on record. The largest swarm ever recorded was in October 1985; it lasted for three months and included more than 3,000 earthquakes.

There was another large swarm in 2010, when more than 2,000 events were recorded over a month.
