For the Vietnam veterans -- it was in honor of this general that Firebase Sedgwick of the 25th Division was named.

TROPIC LIGHTNING

Cheers

I had an uncle who did a couple tours in Vietnam who wore that patch for one of them, 4th Transport Div out of Saigon for the other. He was the guy they sent out from the division to recover tracks that had been disabled in ambushes and the ones that had tracks blown off by road mines. Always had to be some smartass sitting and waiting for someone to come after the disabled equipment so he could try to light up their life.

When he wasn't doing that, he was making deliveries to SF firebases. SF troopers used to ask him if he was crazy, or just stupid, to run the gauntlet to bring stuff out to them, and he usually said "neither - just lucky".

.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
