I submit that their "movement" may bear some of the responsibility for this, if it was directed at Ms. Johnson intentionally. Using words like "warriors" to describe mere political hacks creates a martial air, and "warriors" are meant to, you know, go to war. Shoot folks and get shot at (or hacked with swords and axes, or poked hard with spears, etc - but all acts of violence). War is a violent activity, and "warriors" by definition are violent people, meant to visit violence on others, and receive violence to themselves.
By referring to these sign-carrying piss ants as "warriors", it is not only a rank insult to actual warriors, it invites them to receive a warrior's pay, in steel and lead.
Why would people NOT attack "their warriors"? It's a sure bet that if their "warriors" are "warriors", they will attack the folks attacking them, by definition. An attack of this nature would be in the vein of a preemptive strike to protect The People. Stop abusing the language by mislabeling your piss ants, and they might not be as prone to catch lead nuggets.
