When political comedy is a matter of life and death

I think UK political humour has been much more savage and vicious.  It started way back with Punch magazine and then in the 80s you had Spitting Image puppets which were very clever and allowed writers to attack politicians mercilessly.

In the US and on the interwebs there is now this new tradition (well to me anyway), of roasting, and that is what I see SNL doing. Hell, Obama did it to Trump, who did not take it well then either.  This is a new phenomenon, and Trump should be glad he is only being roasted weekly.  Outside of US he is being lampooned much more and better/worse - depends on your point of view I guess.  

As @DuckForCover says it comes with the territory and you have to man up, and take it on the chin, with dignity, not whinge about it.
