Dear Rogues
You might have noticed that I've not been around much, and that my visits have been shorter than usual.
I've been putting off posting this thread because it's still quite difficult for me to talk about the subject matter, but here goes:
My mum is 81 years old and has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
She is "old School" and very scared of Cancer and she (stupidly) ignored the early signs rather than face up to it.
By the time she mentioned having a lump to anyone, it had already spread into her lung.
She collapsed after a routine hospital appointment for a chest x-ray and was rushed in to hospital mid-December.
We had her at home for a couple of hours for Christmas Lunch, but she struggled for breath and went straight back into Hospital that afternoon.
5 days after her Cancer diagnosis was confirmed, my big sister found out that she also has Breast Cancer.
When I contacted my extended family (mostly cousins) to let them know, I found out that my mum's brother, my Uncle Tommy had been rushed to hospital at the same time as my mum with a serious Stroke.
When I phoned my best "girl pal" to let her know about mum & sis, she broke down on the phone and confided in me that she had just been diagnosed with a life-threatening Viral Meningitis.
My business partner has had to leave our business, so I am really struggling to try and run the business on my own. I don't even know if it's possible for me to run it alone at the best of times, but with everything else going on..?????
My van has broken down 3 times in the last 4 weeks, (for completely unrelated faults - Fuel Tank, Starter Motor and Clutch) leaving me stranded and having to arrange recovery twice, as well as paying for hefty repair bills.
My TV stopped working just before Christmas too! (DISASTER!!! LOL)
The hospital discharged my mum on 30th Dec.
She was nowhere near ready, healthy or fit enough to go home.
and... as a result...
She was rushed back in (in an Emergency Ambulance) on the night of the 31st, struggling to breathe again.
She has now been back in hospital for 8 days and has not received any form of treatment apart from pain relief and oxygen.
It has been a real struggle dealing with everything that's been going on, juggling hospital visits, as well as keeping everyone informed about what was happening with mum and big sis.
My sis also has MS, but is coping quite well and they seem to have caught the Cancer at an early stage so I'm not quite so worried about her at the moment. She had an operation to remove the lump 2 days ago and was back home yesterday.
But, my mum has been deteriorating since going back in to hospital.
We are frustrated and angry at all the delays and lack of treatment.
She is weak and tired and very ill.
I wanted to post this here now to let you all know why I've not been myself lately and to ask if you wouldn't mind sending my mum some positive thoughts to help her through this.
