I'm a sucker for pageantry, even when it carries baggage, history, and downright horrible tradition. 

New pope? Show me some smoke. 

Monarch dead? Show me the crowds.

Insurrection on certification day? Show me the prison sentences. 

But seriously, agree that it has worldwide significance to @Gordi and his point. But also agree that there are other priorities for 99% of the living and breathing population.

We are polar opposites on this one.

I can't stand pageantry or crowds. I even hate dressing up.

I guess I have been a tomboy all my life. Just give me a T-shirt and a pair of jeans, and I am good.

Oh I certainly hate crowds. It's more tradition for me than pageantry, probably not a good way of putting it. But in order for me to enjoy new popes and monarchs, death needs to strike first.
