Know why they don't stop this from happening? Because this goes so deep, and has gone on so long, that the corruption, fear, and greed has either polluted anyone that has any real power to make it happen, or the ones on the streets coming face to face with these crimes, have been so throttled in getting a case processed, for so long, that they give up. They are drowning in cases that go nowhere. Usually because they are bogged down with complexities.

It has become so common for me to have patients that are beautiful young girls, from areas that are half a country away from home, going through that stage where they think their parents don't understand them. They are too strict. Everyone hates them. They just have to get away.

They get hooked up with some professional groomers on the internet, and they tell them everything they have ever wanted to hear, and they are very convincing. Most are very good at their jobs.

And, they often don't look the way you think they would look. Some are young girls that look a lot like them. Trained pawns used for the lure. Many are woman. They are not in a hurry. They gain their trust. They get them hooked on drugs and alcohol, they usually really believe that these people are the only ones that love them or care about them.

It becomes very complicated when these children are willing participants in this crime. The fact that they just that, "children", becomes the last thing all those involved in stopping these crimes, always put the least amount of focus on.

It is easier to blame the child and the parent, when you are fighting a battle you don't believe you can win.

I had a runaway, just a few months ago, that was rescued from a human trafficking gang. She admitted she ran away from home to get drugs, and that she did not care what kind of drugs they were.

She admitted that she hated being at home and that she lived on the streets by selling herself for drugs and alcohol. She also admitted she had run away from rehab three other times.

Don't get me started on those rehabs, and State run juvie homes.

With some of the cases they are revolving doors. You are dealing with a "child", in a confusing state of mind, in a world full of wolves, that is often addicted, from a home where the parent is non-existent, detached, clueless, or overcompensating.

Add in the mix, migrants, that are from a culture where child rape is allowed or ignored, and you have the perfect storm.

The biggest part of the problem, from how I see it, is that trying to find a civilized solution to a crime that goes so far beyond the border of the civilized, is extremely hard. 

I think this is one of those cases, where the only humane way to address it, falls outside of the humane.
