True enough. They may have a wedge set now, but that would be like smacking that wedge with a 20 pound sledge hammer.
Quote:don't get me wrong, I'm all for more gun control (the right kind) which INCLUDES enforcing laws on the books. I think it's totally bat-shit crazy that it's easier to buy a gun than renew the fucking registration on my car, sell a car, rent an apartment, etc. But gun control doesn't stop what happened yesterday.
This is where we'll have a slight difference of opinion. First, I don't know where you live, but I've never had nearly the problems here dealing with the DMV that I've had dealing with federal firearms law. It's entirely possible that our DMV is just more efficient than yours, accounting for that difference. There is no gun control possible that would stop something like the Vegas Massacre, so we are in agreement there. When a man has 2 million dollars to play with, and decides on going on a murderous rampage, little things like laws aren't going to stop that.
I suspect where we mainly differ, however, is in the arena of "more gun control".
Quote:And I agree @"BIAD" I was floored this morning to see that he purchased upwards of 60 guns?! Yesterday it was all not adding up but when this guy was building an arsenal it seems there were a few red flags that could have been looked at. I don't know, but yeah, he had a mini army going at his house.
Collectors have vast collections of guns. For a man with two million dollars and a gun fetish, I would think only 60 guns would show an admirable restraint. I know a guy who has at least that many legal automatic weapons, complete with all the belts, magazines, ammo, and parts to keep them running. He also has a collection of accessories like suppressors and such like objects to compliment that collection. He has a vault that looks like a bank vault - a reinforced concrete bunker with a thick steel door and a big wheel shaped lock to keep them safe - also by Federal law. He's a collector, and has the money to feed the beast.
Heck, just little old poor me at one time had enough weapons and equipment to outfit a 5 man squad - although I don't any more. I'm too old and weak to carry that much crap to the range any more, much less go on the attack.

Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.
Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
