The lack of a thumb may have been compensated by some-sort of use of one of the other fingers
and though that contortion may seem alien to us, we must remember that flying was also seen as
a doubtful act.
If research is done on the 'alien hand' in the area of muscle construction within the fingers, maybe
the clues to why this star-traveller could never ignite a match with his hand, will come to light.

I hope they let us in on what they discover about this "hand". If it turns out to be real, I figure it will disappear into the Vatican archives, along with all the other proof of "alien" life.
