Well, I was out and just came back and now the recent posts section is gone from the myBBPro theme. This makes me really unhappy.

I've disactivated all the plugins as I am about to reinstall them under the new theme, which is the default theme. This is temporary. Your happiness should return soon, as plugins are reinstalled...

One thing to remember though, we won't be spending time on the alternative themes before this one here is as we want it to be. So, if there are glitches and things not working on other themes aside from Roundo (the current default theme), you may mention it but don't expect fixes anytime soon.

Just so you know.

Well.

I had Grace check the new theme on her cell phone, and she likes it in general. Her only complaints were that the reply box was too dark, which may well be a display problem on the phone, since here in the PC it is not so dark.

The colors looked "off" to me on the phone, but we couldn't find anywhere to change the theme so that I could check and see if she was in the default theme or a theme she had previously locked in.

So, I came to my laptop to check the colors of the new theme here, to see if I was misremembering it, and changed to the RoundoDarko theme, which as it turned out was a mistake. Now I am locked into it, so threads in tabs I already had open are the only threads I can currently get to.. There is no box at the bottom of the theme now to change back. Instead of the theme box, I see a "broken file" icon.

I may change to another theme in another open tab to see if i can get there from any other theme.

ETA: I changed to the "responsive" theme in another tab, and that theme gave me the choice to switch back to Dark 1.8. So it seems to just be the RoundoDarko theme where the theme switcher box is broken or missing.

Also, Grace had to try twice to get logged in on the cell phone, but got logged in on the second attempt. I explained to her that it was a glitch in the matrix for the new version of the base software that would be corrected in the next issue of it. I really think the first time logged her in, but just threw a fake failure message, then loaded the logged in site when the page refreshed after the second login attempt.

As an aside, an illustration of my Luddite non-superpowers is that when she tried to login from her laptop, she could not connect to the internet at all. I assessed that to be because I installed a new modem and router a couple weeks ago to take advantage of increased internet speeds around here, and she had not used it to get to the internet since then. So little old neanderthal me went to connect her laptop to the new router, and could not do it - she has Windows 8.1 on it, and the interface is such that i could find nowhere to make a network connection. In Windows 7 and below, it's easy as pie - just click on the network icon in the tray, and a connection dialog pops right up. Not so with Windows 8.1. Some stupid sidebar pops up with no choices to connect to any new networks, only the choice to connect to the old (now dead) network.

Such is life for us old farts.

Hey sweetie. I just did what you said you did and the forum appearance is wholly different.

I was locked into dark theme.

This is odd, the 'you're-not-logged-in' problem needs to be sorted as it's becoming irritating,
but when confronted with the lack of access to the 'Dark1.8' option, I found clicking onto one
of the threads brings me back to RN-Original (Dark1.8)

Grace just reported to me that she cannot get to new posts in the RoundoDarko theme, either. Maybe there is some secret link somewhere that we can't find?

ETA: Never mind. I just realized she was saying that the new posts are missing from the "Responsive" theme, which is explained by @"Sol";s comment above about having disabled plugins.

Did you click on a link to a thread, or open a pre-existent thread in a different tab? If it's just a different tab, the Dark theme was still present in it, and will be until you refresh that tab. If instead of refreshing it, you switch the theme to "responsive", that theme will still give you a path back to the dark theme to actually change the theme.

So in the RoundoDarko theme, there's no link called 'New Posts' at the top of the main page?

I clicked a pre-existent thread in a different tab. This brought me back to Dark1.8.

I misunderstood what she told me - she had switched to "responsive", and the new posts section was missing from that theme, not the RoundoDarko. They are now gone from Dark 1.8 as well, which is also explained by the disabling of the plugins preparatory to re-installs to get them working again.

On the plus side, the Roundodarko theme IS darker than I remember it, same as on the cell phone, which is good for my eyes and my cluster headaches. Now if only I could find a way to hunt through the forums for threads....

I really like how I can go to where I left off on reading comments on a thread. A couple of things I noticed that may still be glitchy: I can rate someone but still am required to put 10 character comments. Don't know if this will go back to where one can just rate a comment and having to make a comment is optional. Also, on my PC, there is a nice up arrow in the bottom right of each page where I can select it and go directly to the top. Unfortunately on my Ipad, this option does not exist. I wonder if the up arrow will eventually be on mobile devices also.

I haven't tried RN3 on my Android phone yet. I seldom use my phone to go to most sites, because it's distorted and hard to navigate.

The arrow to go back up is there when I use my iphone. No idea about pads or androids though. The theme seems to have slight differences depending on what we're using.
