So I am Beck(ie) or Rebecca (but only when I'm naughty) and I joined up when ATS shit on everyone for a few days. I am 48 and live in Staffordshire in the UK. (Good lord, feels like I'm doing a dating profile! )
I am a single mum to a 13 year old daughter. Her dad was an alcoholic and died when she was 6 months old. Since then I have been on my own and loving it.
I also have 2 older kids in their twenties from a previous relationship as well, but they stayed with their Dad when I left and have never lived with me.
We have 2 cats who hate each other, but are work in progress.
I work as a support worker for adults who have learning disabilities at a brick based day service which offers gardening activities and woodwork skills. I am the office manager and woodwork tutor! Although I absolutely love the job, sometimes it is like . Sensible adult conversation is not part of my daily routine.
I don't have many hobbies really. I LOVE to read, mainly apocalypse/zombie/escaped virus type stuff, and of course I love to do woodwork, which I got from my job, and gets so frustrating beacuse when I'm trying to teach them how to do stuff it takes all of my will power not to snatch the drill/screwdriver or whatever out of their hands and do it myself!! I would love one day to have a small business selling my own wooden products and projects
I don't watch TV, apart from Netflix and Amazon prime, and that is only for an hour when I am rolling my ciggies. I do do the odd bit of gardening, and used to grow all my own vegetables, but that has become a bit lax in the last few years.
Last June I FINALLY finished my degree which took 6 years as I had to do it part time and was chuffed that I passed with honours, so I am now a Batchelor of Science.
I was going to go on to get my Masters, but have you seen the price of those things!
Anyway, that's me. Sad little hermit who is quite content on not being social, avoiding social media sites, and real life humans where possible, and very content with where I am at the moment (Apart from my car. It's dropping to bits. Literaly!)

Very nice to meet you!
I’ve done the occasional woodworking myself. Well I tried to build a birdhouse. My husband must have felt some of the same frustration you do except he did take the woodworking tools away from me. He said maybe it would be better if I just painted it. Either that or he was afraid I was going to throw one of them when I couldn’t get one of the crooked pieces I’d just cut to fit right.

Hi, I'm Boy In A Dress and the computer owner is away from the keyboard right now,
so here's an upgrade on your avatar. I don't have long and I meant no insult in using
your original piece of art.

I must admit, I have a very short fuse and am not the most patient of people.

Welcome. We have a bit or two in common.
Back in the late 80's I did a course of studies in learning disabilities, because I was leaning towards speech therapy as a career choice. To be honest, over my 50 plus years in the medical industry, I think I have stuck my toe into almost every venue.
Anyway, I know what it is like training young folk with disabilities for the job market. We offered gardening and packaging of items in baskets for specialty marketing. It takes a lot of love, compassion, and patience, but is very fulfilling.
I don't do TV either. But I love movies, and reading. I am always listening to an audio book. Thank goodness for Audible, and the library's Cloud.
I too have two cats. Enoch and Sylvester. They both have completely different personalities. They were litter mates so they love each other, but Sylvester hangs out with Bellah more than Enoch, and Enoch prefers the company of Maxx. Bellah and Maxx are my Momma and Daddy Huskies. Tamar and Goliath are their spawn, and they were a big oops. Again thank goodness there is only the two Ooopsies.
Congratulations on your Bachelor of Science Degree. And I wish you luck on your Masters.
Glad you joined. I am sure you will enjoy being here.
For every one person that read this post. About 7.99 billion have not.
