Before all : A husband, a father and a great grandfather.

May he rest in peace.

Kindest respects

The same guy who wished he could come back as a virus to kill off a huge portion of mankind?

The same guy who wished he could come back as a virus to kill off a huge portion of mankind?

Explanation: Yes! That guy!

Quote:He said: “In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation.”

Prince Philip’s ‘deadly virus’ gaffe continues to haunt him

Personal Disclosure: N/A!

My elders told me if I had nothing good to say, say nothing at all.

So...

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all

Nothing at all...

@"drussell41"

I wonder if that isn't something cherry-picked by certain observers and repeated over and over.

A couple of things to bear in mind.

He was born in 1921 and witnessed the surrender of the Empire of Japan in Tokyo Bay as a naval officer when he was all of 24 years old.  By all accounts, he was very competent in the Royal Navy and only reluctantly left the service when Elizabeth had to step up her royal duties with the impending death of her father.  Why mention this?  Just to point out he was from another era.  The outlooks were different and the humor was at times harsh.  I recall my (European) mother making jokes at times that caused double takes from Americans who hadn't seen the things she had.  I had to rewire my own sense of humor because I had too much of her outlook in mine, and some of my colleagues felt their safe space had been invaded -- in the time before such notions were popularized by the Left.

The other thing I've heard is that he would deliberately make eye opening comments to "break the ice" in company that was mesmerized by the presence of Royals.  It was his way of taking the social tension down a notch.

The virus comment, seen in that light, was just a rough-edged joke the point of which was that people should get over themselves.  Not diplomatic and could easily be offensive to a given observer.  But, unlike all our 'celebs' today, he didn't give a shit.  Reminds me of Trump in one way.

Cheers

I reckon we'll find out now if he can or not.

In all honesty, the older I get, the more I can see a serious point in his statement. There really are too doggone many people on Earth, and it seems the dumbest of them are breeding the fastest, dragging down the collective IQ of humanity to all new lows never before seen in history, at least not since the era of the Australopithecines, who couldn't even figure out how to bang two rocks together.

So... the Queen has an opening for a consort now? And she's rich? Where does one apply for the position? I have a friend she really needs to meet...

.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’

Here's a fairly interesting video posted on 26th February. It explains how the UK, the UK media
and Buckingham Palace are prepared for any death in the British Royal household.
