Obama Fires A Climate Change Doubter!

Energy Dept. Defends Obama’s Climate Action Plan By Firing Honest Scientist.

'Department of Energy (DOE) officials withheld information from Congress to advance
President Barack Obama’s Climate Action Plan and fired an employee who honestly
and thoroughly answered legislative staff’s questions, a congressional committee
investigation found.

DOE officials, including Noelle Metting, met with staff from the House Science, Space
and Technology and Senate Energy and Natural Resources committees in October 2014
to discuss pending legislation the agency opposed.

DOE wanted to suppress information to kill support for the bill, science committee
Republicans revealed in a report Tuesday.

Metting was later fired because she “refused to conform to [DOE management’s]
predetermined remarks” and provided “candid and complete information” in response

''Carrie Fisher 'suffers massive heart attack' on flight'

The Star Wars actress is being treated in an LA hospital after she stopped
breathing for "10 minutes" on a transatlantic flight.

Carrie Fisher has suffered a massive heart attack on a flight from London
to Los Angeles.

The Star Wars actress was helped by doctors and nurses, who happened to be
on board and performed lifesaving CPR on the 60-year-old, who is best-known
for playing Princess Leia.

In a dramatic exchange between the flight crew and air traffic control, the pilot
described how fellow passengers were fighting to save her life.

He told controllers:  "We have some passengers, nurses assisting the passenger.
We have an unresponsive passenger. They are working on her right now."...'

  SPOON FOUND ON MARS
Posted by: guohua - 12-24-2016, 03:26 AM - Forum: UFOs, Aliens and Universal Questions - Replies (11)

Yup and it looks like one too!

Quote:A new video has surfaced on the web that is based on a Mars rover image claiming that the photo shot by the Curiosity Rover indicates presence of ‘spoon’ on Mars.
The spoon was found in the image shot by Mars rover Curiosity [original image here] and first observed by YouTuber ‘UFO Hunter’.

The YouTuber has a history of coming up with such videos based on images captured by Mars rovers with on of their most famous claims being a rat on Mars. In this particular video, UFO Hunter claims that the most ‘amazing’ bit in the image is a ‘giant spoon’ that has could have been left over by an ‘intelligent’ civilization that is now lost.

Alien and UFO enthusiast Scott Waring adds his two cents worth. According to him this is actually the second spoon that has been found on Mars with the latest spoon being exact copy of the first one. further he goes onto add that there is something else that he has discovered in the photo. If you look at the top left corner, lying on a rock is another ‘eating utensil’ that was seemingly missed out by UFO Hunter but ‘brilliantly’ spotted by Waring.

Waring claims that the object also resembles a spoon but has ‘a triangle end’ to it. This could mean, according to him, that it is a knife or a stirrer of some sort if used in a specific way.
“Its length, width, and thickness all match the spoon”, Waring adds.

The alien enthusiast goes onto add in his ‘expert’ commentary that with previous sightings indicating presence of “many faces on Mars, “there were many species, big and small on Mars.” Also they hand hands similar to humans because they came up with a spoon for their use

“That would make them our size, how cool is that?” Waring concludes.

Are aliens trying to contact Earth?
Posted by: guohua - 12-24-2016, 02:25 AM - Forum: Science and Space...the Other Final Frontiers - No Replies

Not Likely, But we Can Always Hope!

Quote:Are aliens trying to contact Earth? Six new mysterious blasts of radio energy are detected from deep space
I don't know, would they use radio waves of a sort? Maybe.
Quote:It may be three billion light-years away from Earth, but this distant constellation could be trying to contact us.
Six bursts of radio waves have been detected from the constellation Auriga, each lasting just a few milliseconds.
While the source of the waves remains unknown, some suggest they mysterious bursts of energy could be a sign of alien life trying to contact us.
From the article it appears these are not the first radio waves they've pick-up.
Quote:The waves were detected by researchers from McGill University in Montreal, using the Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia, and at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico.
In their paper, published in The Astrophysical Journal, the researchers, led by Paul Scholz, wrote: 'We have detected six additional radio bursts from this source: five with the Green Bank Telescope at 2 GHz, and one at 1.4 GHz with the Arecibo Observatory, for a total of 17 bursts from this source.'
The detection follows 11 previously recorded outbursts from the same location, called FRB 121102.

This is the only known repeater of fast radio bursts (FRBs) - radio emissions that appear temporarily and randomly.
Despite there being a number of FRBs from the site, the origin of the bursts is an ongoing puzzle to researchers.
So, when were they going to tell us?
NEVER!
Quote:But the researchers say that the repeated outbursts imply that whatever is causing the radio bursts is not a one-time event, such as an explosion or collision.
Instead, they say that flares from a young neutron star – the dense core left behind where a star explodes – are a promising candidate.
The researchers added: 'Whether FRB 121102 is a unique object in the currently known sample of FRBs, or all FRBs are capable of repeating, its characterisation is extremely important to understanding fast extragalactic radio transients.'
Source
So, you think they are from a Neutron Star or are we receiving the first radio waves of an Alien "The Shadow Knows" radio show?  minusculethinking

Quote:A French woman has revealed she is in love with a robot and determined to marry it.
Lilly’s partner is a robot called InMoovator, who she 3D-printed herself and has been living with for a year.

On her Twitter page, where she goes by ‘Lilly InMoovator,’ she says: ‘I'm a proud robosexual, we don't hurt anybody, we are just happy.’
Now, Lilly is reportedly engaged to the robot and says they will marry when human-robot marriage is legalised in France.
REALLY???? Are You Serious?
Quote:Lilly said she realised she was sexually attracted to robots at the age of 19 because she dislikes physical contact with people, news.com.au reported.

She insisted the idea is not ‘ridiculous’ or ‘bad’ but simply an alternative lifestyle.
No Dear, It's Very Ridiculous!
Quote:‘I’m really and only attracted by the robots,’ she said.
However, she declined to say whether she and InMoovator have a sexual relationship.

‘My only two relationships have confirmed my love orientation, because I dislike really physical contact with human flesh.’

Her family and friends have accepted her unusual relationship, she said, although not everyone in her life understands.

Lilly, who is training to become a roboticist, believes her relationship will improve further as technology evolves.
‘I’m really and totally happy,’ she added.

  The Utopian Township of Auroville
Posted by: Mystic Wanderer - 12-23-2016, 09:57 PM - Forum: Survival and Sustainability - Replies (4)

With a new year dawning, and Christmas just around the corner, it seems like the appropriate time to calm ourselves down with a "feel good" story, and bring in some "good vibrations" to ring in the new year.

I've posted before about the Ubuntu movement, and the show hosted by William Tellinger on GAIA t.v.
But, it seems this movement has been ongoing since the late 1960s, in a town called Auroville.

Quote:The city’s name is Auroville, and this utopian township allows men and women of all nationalities to to reside in peace and harmony. Here, human unity is allowed to flourish.

Founded in 1968, Auroville, or the “City of Dawn,” was named an international city by UNESCO, with its inhabitants hailing from more than 50 nations and different cultures.
So often we focuses on the differences that divide us, whether they be political, economical, or spiritual, and create boundaries as a result. But at Auroville, there is no need to raise walls between people, because there are no restricting systems. There is no money, no religion, and no politics. And so, people are able to peacefully coexist.
Instead of a government, self-formed committees run the town, and rather than money, there’s the “Aurocard.” Alcohol isn’t sold inside Auroville, and cars are banned from entering its roads. But no rules are actually enforced, as there isn’t an official government or police force. Instead, the city relies on a system of trust between residents.

Oops!  No alcohol sold?   So sorry, @Daitengu.  Guess we'lll have to come visit you on the outside. tinywondering

Quote:The utopian vision for Auroville came about from spiritual leader Mirra Alfassa, known as the “Mother” of Auroville. She drew the first plan for the city in 1960, dividing it into four zones: industrial (organic farms), cultural (shops and businesses), residential, and international (areas for visitors).

Here is the proposed vision for the city. It looks like the Milky Way Galaxy:

Quote:That same year, French architect Roger Anger transformed her vision into a masterplan consisting of a spiral of homes, public buildings, farms, and forests. Since then, outside organizations have begun projects to progress Auroville’s original vision.

Architect Anupama Kundoo, for instance, has designed Lego-style houses for residents, and the architects from the Auroville Design Consultancy have drawn up over 20 public spaces for the city, such as kindergartens, libraries, resorts, and homes. While many have yet to be built, the intended projects revolve around human connection and environmental sustainability.

Quote:This peaceful, anarchic community seeks to be a sustainable eco-city, where multi-cropping, combining fruit trees, cornfields, and orchards, organized into 15 farms and spanning an area of nearly 2.5 acres, ensures there is plenty of food to support the population. Fifty villagers and 300 neighbors work on the farms, producing 2% of rice and cereals consumed and 50% of vegetables.

The village is also self-reliant in milk and dairy products, as well as seasonal fruit. There are many other projects run by Aurovillians, from schools and IT to renewable energy and handicrafts production. As a result, 4,000 to 5,000 people are employed from nearby villages.

It seems outside opinions of Auroville vary, from respect and admiration to the suggestion that its residents are merely taking part in self-indulgent escapism. Almost 60% of the residents here are foreign, while most new members require more funds than the majority of people in India are likely to ever have.

And except for the non-existent government, many would argue Auroville doesn’t resemble the envisioned plan for the city.
Even the city’s website acknowledges this, but proclaims it is actively working on getting there. Yet to see that a break in the system has occurred, and that there are people looking to make it a tangible reality, is incredibly telling of the desire so many of us have, deep down, to be free of the restrictions we’ve come to view as normal.

Alfassa believed that:

Quote:There should be somewhere on earth a place which no nation could claim as its own, where all human beings of goodwill who have a sincere aspiration could live freely as citizens of the world and obey one single authority, that of the supreme Truth; a place of peace, concord and harmony where all the fighting instincts of man would be used exclusively to conquer the causes of his sufferings and miseries, to surmount his weaknesses and ignorance, to triumph over his limitations and incapacities; a place where the needs of the spirit and the concern for progress would take precedence over the satisfaction of desires and passions, the search for pleasure and material enjoyment.

In this place, children would be able to grow and develop integrally without losing contact with their souls; education would be given not for passing examinations or obtaining certificates and posts but to enrich existing faculties and bring forth new ones. In this place, titles and positions would be replaced by opportunities to serve and organise; the bodily needs of each one would be equally provided for, and intellectual, moral and spiritual superiority would be expressed in the general organisation not by an increase in the pleasures and powers of life but by increased duties and responsibilities.

Beauty in all its artistic forms, painting, sculpture, music, literature, would be equally accessible to all; the ability to share in the joy it brings would be limited only by the capacities of each one and not by social or financial position.

For in this ideal place money would no longer be the sovereign lord; individual worth would have a far greater importance than that of material wealth and social standing. There, work would not be a way to earn one’s living but a way to express oneself and to develop one’s capacities and possibilities while being of service to the community as a whole, which, for its own part, would provide for each individual’s subsistence and sphere of action.

Source

At Auroville, human relationships are built on unity; to appreciate each one's ability to do well, and use that as a driving force to create a community that does well as a whole.

Sounds like my idea of Peace on Earth.  If I come up missing, look for me here. tinybiggrin

  TRUMPOCALYPSE?
Posted by: guohua - 12-23-2016, 05:43 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (6)

That is what they are calling it,  smallcrackingup

You'll read this article and realize these are not your Progressive Liberals from San Francisco, Portland or Seattle, No these Liberals must of grown up with a Conservative in the Family Or they'd All Never Be Able To point and Shot a Gun or Rifle, they'd Hurt themselves!

It would Appear the Left is Concerned and Worried That our Economy will Slow and Go Down the Dumpster under trump.
How Ignorant is that?
He already has Ford Staying and Boeing is builder Less Expensive Presidential AF-1 jets and now he has  Lockheed-Martin and Boeing in a Bidding war over the new Fighter Jet.

He's working to restore jobs and save the Tax Payer Money and The Liberals Are Worried and Going Bat-Shit Crazy!

Quote:TRUMPOCALYPSE? SUDDENLY LIBERALS ARE THE ONES STOCKPILING FOOD, GUNS AND EMERGENCY SUPPLIES

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, many liberals all over America have suddenly become extremely interested in prepping
They'll be lucky if they don't Shot That Foot off!
Quote:Fearing that a Trump presidency could rapidly evolve into a “Trumpocalypse”, a significant number of leftists are now stockpiling food, guns and emergency supplies.
In fact, even though many had expected a sharp drop in gun sales following Trump’s victory, what actually happened is that fear of what is coming under Trump pushed background checks for gun sales to an all-time record high on Black Friday.  The election of Donald Trump has awakened the left to a degree that we haven’t seen in decades, and some on the left are embracing hardcore survivalism without any apologies.

What is ironic about all of this is that on the other end of the political spectrum interest in prepping is probably the lowest that it has ever been in the history of the modern prepper movement.
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an article about how it was like “a nuclear bomb went off in the prepping community“, and nothing has changed since that time.
In fact, since I originally wrote that article we have gotten some hard numbers that show how dramatically optimism about the future has surged among those on the right.

Just before the election, CNBC’s All-America Economic Survey found that only 15 percent of all Republicans believed that the economy would improve over the next year, but after the election that number skyrocketed all the way up to 74 percent.

But among Democrats it is a different story altogether.  That same CNBC survey found that optimism about the economy on the left fell by more than half after the election.  At this point, it is sitting at just 16 percent.

It would be hard to overstate how negatively many on the left feel about Trump.  We have seen many of them take to the streets to angrily protest his election, and according to the BBC others have decided to stockpile food and guns “in preparation for social and economic collapse”…
Wake-Up, we are just beginning to come out of a Social and Economic Collapse after these 8 years!
Quote:
Quote:Witness Ana Marie Cox, a popular progressive writer with gigs at MTV and the New York Times. “So who else has been researching basic disaster prep stuff?” she polled her Twitter audience on Wednesday. “Bc—congrats, right wingers—I do not trust the government to help anymore!” Her next tweet extended the holiday merriment to our nation’s Second Amendment enthusiasts: “Getting my rifle out of storage this week.”
And did you know that leftists even have their own gun organization?
It is known as “the Liberal Gun Club”, and since Trump’s victory it has experienced a huge surge in membership
Quote:Lara Smith, national spokesperson for the Liberal Gun Club, says her organization has seen a “huge” rise in enquiries since November’s election and a 10% increase in paid members.
US gun sales hit record levels in October amid fears a Hillary Clinton election victory would lead to draconian gun control measures.
The election of Donald Trump, who was backed by the National Rifle Association early on, was thought to bring an end to panic buying. Shares in gun manufacturers even dropped by as much as 18% following his victory.
Instead, FBI background checks for gun transactions soared to a new record for a single day – 185,713 – during the Black Friday sales on 25 November, according to gun control news site The Trace.
Many on the right have responded to Donald Trump’s election victory by deciding that the battle is over and that it is time to go to sleep.  But many on the left have been suddenly awakened and are now preparing for extremely challenging times ahead.

I hate to say this, but in this case those on the left that are busily preparing are showing much more wisdom than many on the right that have chosen to abandon prepping altogether at this point.

Of course most of those on the left don’t really understand the storm that is approaching.  All they know is that Trump is “really bad” and therefore they need to try to get through the next four years the best that they can.  Here is more from the BBC
Quote:“We are not looking for end of the world Mad Max-type scenarios, we are not looking at a zombie apocalypse,” says the author of a left wing survivalist blog, who also reports a surge in interest since Trump’s victory.
He says it is “fairly easy to predict” an economic collapse under Trump but adds: “No matter what, the country is still going to be here in four years, there’s going to be another election.”
I would have to agree that a major economic downturn is quite likely in the very near future.  We have been on the greatest debt binge in history during the Obama years, and it is inevitable that this bubble will burst.

Donald Trump basically has two choices.  He could try to prolong this debt bubble for as long as possible, but that would make the ultimate outcome even worse.  Or he could try to deal with the crisis right away, but that would mean an extraordinary amount of pain for all of us.

No matter who won the election, we were going to have to deal with the consequences of decades of incredibly foolish decisions sooner or later.
Let us certainly hope for the best, but without a doubt those that are preparing for challenging times ahead are showing incredible wisdom, and this includes both liberals and conservatives.
