Missing 411 / Paulides

He stated that what he actually saw were delta-wing-style machines, but 'flying saucer' sounds more silly and the
belief in unknown 'out-of-this-world' craft became shelved with Nessie and the Patterson-Gimlin footage.

Aye.

In a similar vein, nearly everyone who claims to have spoke with them little grey fellers from beyond the sky these days claims they said they were from Zeta 2 Reticuli. That goes back to the Barney and Betty Hill case in 1961. Betty, under hypnosis, produced a "star map" that she said she was shown on the flying saucer. A few years later, Marjorie Fish built models of stars and finally said she found that configuration from the direction of Zeta 2 Reticuli, and a legend was born for folks to hang their hats on.

There were fundamental false assumptions in Ms. Fish's work that invalidated it, but people still, to this day, go right back to it as if it were gospel, especially since all these alleged "contactees" claim their little grey fellerrs confirmed it.

Technology has marched onward, and nowadays anyone with a computer and internet connection can download "Celestia", which uses far more accurate data for star positions than Fish had to work with, use that program to "fly" to Zet2Ret, and look back towards the sun, and see for themselves that it is all bunk, the star pattern is not there, in just a few minutes.

But apparently, fame and fortune seeking "contactees" either don't know how to do that, or are banking that no one else will, and they stubbornly stick to their bullshit tales, because they sell.

I don't know if the Hill case was legit or not. I don't know if Betty Hill's "Starmap" is legit, or just a figment of an overactive imagination. What I DO know is that, if one takes her original map, and uses only the stars from it, omitting the planets and moons (Fish, unfortunately, included them as "Stars"), a disturbingly similar star configuration can be seen from the direction of the north galactic pole, a location very near to a star named Beta Comae Berenices.

Yet "contactees" and the internet in general still swear by an explanation they have never bothered to check for themselves. Not only do I cringe every time I hear it, I also know they are utterly making it up out of whole cloth every time they claim that they spoke with aliens, and them little gray fellers said the come from Zeta 2 Reticuli.

I know where that bullshit line came from, and I DID check it out for myself.

.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’

I have to say...to me it looks pretty "real". Which is more than I can say for Nessie "sightings". The most famous one looks pretty fakey.

Interesting thing about lakes though. If you look closely...there apparently is a crypto being living in most lakes all over the world. Cant count how many lake monster claims I read over the years. The Loch is just the most famous one. And there in lies the suspicion.

I apologise for the delay and sending mixed-messages, no I think -like you, the Patterson footage looks real and there's supposed to
be a backstory to the encounter that involves deaths of these creatures attempting to rescue a captured infant Bigfoot.

I am an avid fan of all things cryptid, it's just the manner the media display them in such a mocking way that pisses me off.

I hear you...and it simply amazes me how deathly dumb is our (society) default position on the unknown. Circus, mockery, ignorance and fear. I find it laughable, while conspiracy nutters were mocked for decades for this to now come full circle and the verdict is in. Yes, there are UFO's. Yes, the governments have known about them and lied. They tried to make you look stupid, they destroyed lives, they covered up. A special thanks to media for enabling this injustice for decades.

Now where were we ? Link me to this "back story". Not sure if heard that one. I read plenty of these stories, but I dont recall such an event being tied to Patterson footage.

Oh yes, the 'backstory' in the Patterson-Bigfoot incident!

The evidence is vague when looking into it and the Bigfoot community's initial response was that it was just too ridiculous.
But isn't suggesting a giant hairy man-like being is regularly seen crossing US highways, a little odd too?!

It seems from a female Bigfoot researcher called Bobbie Short, that a group of professional hunters from Canada came to
Bluff Creek during the time Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin were there. Bobbie Short died in 2013.

Bobbie Short.

In 1967, reports of Sasquatch had been surfacing that indicated these creatures were rummaging through the apparatus of
a road-works above the bluff and for an unknown behest and by unknown people, these hunters appeared in order to clear
the remote area of the Bigfoot. It could well be that the accounts of Sasquatch moving logging equipment around close to
Bluff Creek had a bearing too.

Using certain means, a group of Bigfoot were located and an infant Bigfoot was captured. Staking out the little beast on a
sandbar in the locale of Bluff Creek, the hunters prepared their automatic weapons and specially-trained dogs as the creatures
made attempts to rescue the young animal.

It was described as a massacre and many Bigfoot were shot, mutilated and used as trophies by the unnamed hunters.
In part of the Patterson/Gimlin footage, an area of dark -almost dark-red, is said to show where the five skinned and bloody
bodies of the Bigfoot were dumped and later removed.

However, if Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin were there, it doesn't explain how -during the filming of the alleged female Sasquatch
walking away into the surrounding forest, he did not access the area of the interred bodies and use whatever evidence might remain
as evidence of his unusual claim. It is also strange why Bob Gimlin has never mentioned such actions in the few conference-talks
he's attended.
Ms Short also suggested there was another film taken during the carnage, but that footage remains unseen at this time.

Bobbie Short's account resurfaced in 2020 and it caused rumblings in the Bigfoot community!
Here's a video explaining the situation from a friend of the late-researcher.

This one fell in my lap last night when someone in a chat dropped the link. It didn't have anything to do with the discussion at the time, so I mark this up as another synchronicity, which you all know happens to me all the time.

This video is David Paulides interviewing Bobo from the show, Finding Bigfoot. At first I didn't know this man was Bobo. He has lost 50 lbs., so he looks completely different. Still know it's him by his actions and his voice.

The conversation covers many things; DNA evidence/proof of Bigfoot being real, the Patterson sighting, the many different investigations the show did around the world, and many more interesting discussions.
Paulides did say he had never connected the missing people with Bigfoot, so there's that.

Enjoy!

One thing Paulides mentions that caught my interest was the park ranger who spoke of "wild men" living off-grid in wilderness areas.  I've read a few accounts of crime that targeted campers; that kind of thing advises one to be well-armed when out hiking or camping.  That saddens me because I used to perceive the parks as peaceful places where one did not have to consider the motives of others.  Yeah, that was gullible of me.  It is a double edged sword as well because now one should assume strangers -are- carrying a firearm and, if possible, avoid contact with them -- who wants to run into a meth-head anywhere, much less deep in a wilderness area?

Yeah, some of those reports are really odd.  I wonder if many of those disappearances are that the missing person is suddenly much higher and the people looking around for them don't look up.

Cheers

Have a gander - google of Ivan Milat and the Belango Forest murders/disappearances in New South Wales Australia.  They are still searching and trying to tag other mysterious missing information on persons missing in this area.  If you were young and hitchhiking back then in that area near the highway then you vanish off the map perhaps you are buried in that forest.

Poor souls.  Even his son and ex missus are implicated.  No Aliens or Yowies are mentioned there.  Just the facts of recovering the bodies of those reported missing.

Kind regards,

This is good.  I'm wondering how they knew Zeta 3 Reticuli (why it was named this) considering they were from another star system and, really, would have no doubt given a different name to their home system or planet.  Even a mind meld would not have described Zeta 3 Reticuli and it's position.

Or, "We are from Sirius, your 'dogstar' and have come to save the planet Earth from it's untimely destruction" (and by the way, on a side note, we built the Pymamids)

"Greetings Earthlings" and so on.  Poor souls lap this up kinda like Adamski in his time who said he met the Venusians and they were pretty much in the image of humans,,,but,,,more beautiful.  Got the tongues wagging and sold a lot of books as did the other stories, made into movies etc.  Should the Venusians have stepped foot on Earth in their wunderbar long blonde hair and blue eyes, they would have ballooned  and exploded.  (See atmospheric pressure on Venus for clarification).

"We are from Venus"?  Well I reckon you may have named it something else, alien beings, perhaps akin to hades.

How do aliens know we call this planet 'Earth"?

So, why this is a little off topic ? Sometimes the need to create belief to others is a money making venture and a lifelong career.

I am not a skeptic but can see fraud hence I never get sucked into money schemes.

In saying that, I have seen and felt some weird shit and occasionally relate these experiences but I don't make money out of it i.e. Books or Videos.  Making cash out of missing persons is pretty tragic from my perspective rather than go to the point of their disappearance, investigate and come up with a tangible conclusion in a higher percentage of the cases.  Personal case in point.  While searching for the body of Peter Falconio I had a big percentage of the Tanami desert to cover.  There were dicks calling in and faxing from parts of Australia telling me where to look, because they had a vision.  One person reckoned he balanced a weight from string over the map of Northern Territory.  Give me a break!  I trusted my Aboriginal trackers (who laughed at those suggestions by the way) over people who wish to make themselves known.

Bradley Murdoch was convicted of Peter's murder.  I spend 2 days at Darwin for a supreme court appearance for that one giving evidence. Nothing mysterious (Like the Ivan Milat murder spree).

As I aforementioned I have no doubt there are strange phenomena occurring.  I have seen it myself and believe it but in every case some critical investigation is required which may dissipate or alay fears that it was a UFO or Yowie, Sasquatch or abduction.
And then there was this one Aussie that suckered people for a while then later reckoning he got the Yowie to give permission to do a video interview.  Well, color me pink, how does a Yowie even contemplate of 'Video Interview'.  What's a video to a Yowie.  Old saying, "Come in Spinner" (Aussie for sucker) Had a bit of following and probably still does.

My thoughts, sincererly yours,

Bally:)

Heh heh.  No comment on the tragic circumstances you investigated, but I wanted to mention the following.

In the winter of 1939-1940, a French general consulted a well known "mystic" who used such a method.  His question was where the Germans would launch their main attack.

Her "divining weight" pointed to the Ardennes in the area of Sedan.

Of course, it was all dismissed as a form of entertainment, because, after all, the Ardennes could not be crossed by large-scale motorized forces.  minusculebonker

Hey!  I enjoyed the helicopter rides over the desert and the 4 wheeling for that matter.  Campfire, swag, eating rations.  Reports and days of paperwork were the only downsides but all works out in the end.

Part of the job then.

Now I cut wood, play farmer and clean dunnies.  Life's good.

@"gordi", I hadn't watched that video yet, and I guess I forgot about it, especially since it was on a different page.

What's important is that it's out there now, and we can all watch it, and I posted again for those who missed it on the first page. Sorry if that upset you.

I'm going to have to start paying more attention to what has already been posted I suppose.
