Nine die in lorry 'attack' on Berlin Christmas market
#1
'A witness tells of the truck "going through people" and "pulling everything down" a
it crashed into a crowded German market.

At least nine people have been killed after a lorry crashed into a crowded Christmas
market in Berlin in a suspected attack.

Around 50 others are thought to have been injured and the suspected driver has been arrested.
There were earlier reports that he had fled the scene.

The co-driver reportedly died in the crash which happened in the popular market outside the
Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.

Witnesses said the crash was not an accident and the lorry had shown no signs of slowing down.
They spoke of the vehicle "going through people" and "pulling everything down".

Images from the scene showed the dark-coloured truck on the pavement with its windscreen
smashed after being cordoned off by officers.

A number of ambulances are treating the injured and police are telling Berliners to "stay at home"...'

'Anis Amri is suspected of driving the truck that smashed into a Christmas market,
and is thought to be armed and dangerous.

Germany has issued a reward of up to 100,000 euros to find the main suspect in
the Berlin Christmas market attack.

A Europe-wide manhunt has been launched to trace Tunisian Anis Amri, who is
believed to be armed and dangerous and has links to Islamic extremists, say
investigators.

The 23-year-old is suspected of being at the wheel of a lorry which ploughed into
a crowd of shoppers at a busy market in the German capital.

Twelve people were killed and 48 others injured in Monday evening's attack, which
has been claimed by the Islamic State terrorist group.

Authorities have issued a European arrest warrant for Amri, who is thought to have
used six different aliases and three different nationalities...'

Currently listening to a track called Dark Night - seems all too appropriate, sadly there are too many dark nights now.

Anywho, I hope they get this guy, but then he will become a martyr.

You can't really win.

UPDATE:

'Berlin attack suspect shot dead in Italy, minister confirms'

'A Europe-wide manhunt for Anis Amri ends in Milan, where the Tunisian man is stopped
by police and killed in a shootout.

The Berlin attack suspect has been killed in a shootout with police in Milan, the Italian interior
minister says.

Anis Amri, a 24-year-old Tunisian, had eluded capture since the attack on Monday that killed
12 people and injured another 48 in the German capital.

Italian interior minister Marco Minniti said during a news conference that the man killed in the
shootout was identified as Amri "without a shadow of a doubt".

Amri was stopped near the train station in the northern Italian city at around 3am (2am UK time)
on Friday.

He pulled out a gun "without hesitation" and started firing towards the officers, injuring one of
them, Mr Minniti said.
The suspect was then shot and killed.

The injured policeman has been taken to hospital and underwent surgery, but his wounds are
not life-threatening...'
