It has been said that Time travel would not manifest until it's first tries and successes, that is, at a certain year at the discovery of its workings. That would account for why we have seen nothing yet, or had accounts in any great numbers in the past except for authors and writers, and a few looking to make some sensationalism or profit from their huckster claims. Enquirer type news stand articles hopeful of a 'Story'. Any of those who did, were thought to be not quite ...... well, any number of comments might be made, often not complementary.
If you have found this of interest since childhood, that's not strange, more than likely you were influenced by Herbert George Wells, or better known as H G Wells, author of "The Time Machine"

It is curious that in the last decade or so, there has been a revival of stories and pictures with supposed impossible tech in them and at times when these items did not exist. ie. Microsoft tech in pictures of pre-war scenarios, people and places. Impossible to have existed. Not Dr. Loveless in some Wild Wild West episode with Artemus and James West's futuristic scientific appareatus's
Recent times have brought accounts of John Titor.. searching for IBM obsolete computer parts to repair his device for time travel, marooned as it were for a length of time. And then you consider that this the age of computers, the leap from calculators, PC's and such to full on Artificial Intelligence. The infancy of AI. Now that Time Travel Slot is present.
