'Jennifer Lawrence has sparked fury after claiming deadly Hurricane Harvey and Irma are "mother nature's
rage" against Donald Trump. The Hollywood actress appeared to blame the president and his supporters
because of their views on global warming.
Hurricane Irma has killed at least 22 people after ploughing through the Caribbean, while 66 people were
confirmed dead after Harvey tore through the US.
Lawrence, 27, made the comments in an interview with Channel 4 to promote her new movie Mother!
She said: "You know you're watching these hurricanes now, and it's really hard especially while promoting
this movie, not to feel mother nature's rage and wrath.
The Hunger Games star also said: "It's also scary to know, that climate change is due to human activity,
and we continue to ignore it, and the only voice that we really have is through voting."
When reminded the US went to the polls just under a year ago and elected Trump, she added:
"And we voted and it was really startling."
Lawrence also said she has "heard things and seen things" in the US that "devastate me and make me sick".
She was slammed for her comments - with some fuming viewers calling for a boycott of the new film,
which also stars Javier Bardem.
One woman said: "PLZ #BOYCOTT #JenniferLawrence's new #MOTHER Movie!!
Make it SINK LIKE A ROCK!!"
Another fumed: "In matters of politics, science, morality, and religion I always turn to shallow, self absorbed
movie stars for guidance...said no one ever!"
It isn't the first time Lawrence has hit out against the US president - in 2015 she told Entertainment Weekly:
"If Donald Trump becomes president, that will be the end of the world".
Millions of Americans are currently fleeing Hurricane Irma as Florida braces for a direct hit from the killer storm.
The US is preparing for a catastrophic blow this weekend after forecasters warned Miami is in the “worst possible
position” as Irma – which is now a Category Four storm – continues on its destructive path.
The mammoth hurricane poses a significantly bigger menace to power supplies than Hurricane Harvey did
because of Irma’s 150 mph winds that could down electric lines and close nuclear and other power plants...'
