They're putting a "contact tracing" team in place here as well, and all sorts of folks have gotten their knickers in a bunch over it. No need to - if they try to initiate contact, you simply refuse the contact, and then you don't have to give up any info at all. They tried to contact me about it around 2 weeks ago, because they need a manager for their regional office, and I just didn't respond because I feel no compelling need to invade my neighbors' privacy over a flu bug. They ain't got enough money to convince me to do that.

To add insult to injury, my better-half and myself took an early-morning's  visit to my town's only municipal Household
Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in order to dump three large bags of garden refuse that had been stinking up the
place during this so-called lock-down in the UK.

Waiting in a line of other vehicles, we noticed a plastic sign strapped to the tip's fencing that proclaimed that from 1st June,
individual appointments would have to be made from now on to dispose of waste. After being told where and which clearly
-marked container to use, we got out of there quickly and at home, checked the advertised website.

Instructions: (minus my town's name)

We have introduced a free, online booking system to make it easier for you to use the tip during the
COVID-19 pandemic. It is hoped the system will reduce queues at the site.

*this booking system is for xxxxxxxxx residents only
*only vehicles with an appointment will be allowed on the HWRC site – please be on time
*cars only allowed on the HWRC site, no vans or commercial vehicles or trailers
*one person only per car (Blue Badge holders can be accompanied by a family member)
*social distancing of at least 2 metres will be strictly enforced
*site Employees will not be able to assist with unloading
*if it has to close because of bad weather, such as high winds, your booking will be cancelled,
you will receive a text/email and will need to re-book

You can book a slot up to two weeks in advance. Once you have booked your slot you will receive a text
message/email (check your junk/spam if it doesn't arrive) which you should show to staff when you arrive
at the centre.
The tip is only open for xxxxxxxxx  residents and you will be asked to show proof of address on arrival.
Anyone who arrives at the tip without a booking, or proof of address, will be turned away.
Safe working practices have been adopted at the tip with staff and residents following social distance guidelines.

For rubbish... you have to have identification to drop rubbish into a facility that you already fund via your 'Community Charge'
-which is another name for Poll Tax in the UK. So a skip-rat, a man who rummages around in skips  -unauthorised and untrained
in dealing with sensitive information that his kept on the public's private equipment, will be asking to handle your cell-phone to
check if you 'Have Your Paperz'.

In the past, these employees -from a private company in association with the local Council, were there to assist with heavy bags,
pluck interesting items from the containers for selling to thrift-shops in the town-centre and on rare occasions, advise directions,
now stand like suspicious Gestapo at chosen points and do nothing except yell at each other that they should use their walkie-talkies.
The ones I paid for.

And what will happen due to this half-assed bureaucracy...? Apart from the obvious increase in fly-tipping around the country, fake
electronic documents will be generated for a small fee, traditional street refuse collection will now discover a massive increase
in material unsuitable as household waste and the whole system will find it's created more expensive environmental damage and
needless mistrust in those elected to serve the public and not to just monitor them.

And all for seasonal flu and a sack of rubbish.
