  The Elves Of Iceland.
Posted by: BIAD - 07-23-2019, 09:25 PM - Forum: Cryptozoology - Replies (4)

On the back of Guohua's suggestion that Mr. Erwin Saunders should visit the USA, it seems Iceland
could be the hairy Elf-Hunter's first port of call.

Quote:‘No doubt’ Iceland’s elves exist: anthropologist certain the creatures live alongside regular folks.

Construction sites have been moved so as not to disturb the elves, and fishermen have refused to put
out to sea because of their warnings: here in Iceland, these creatures are a part of everyday life.

'Since the beginning of time, elves have been the stuff of legend in Iceland, but locals here will earnestly
tell you that elves appear regularly to those who know how to see them.
Construction sites have been moved so as not to disturb the elves, and fishermen have refused to put out
to sea because of their warnings: here in Iceland, these creatures are a part of everyday life.

But honestly, do they really exist?
Anthropologist Magnus Skarphedinsson has spent decades collecting witness accounts, and he’s convinced
the answer is yes.
He now passes on his knowledge to curious crowds as the headmaster of Reykjavik’s Elf School.

Anthropologist Magnus Skarphedinsson has spent decades collecting witness accounts of elf sightings.

“There is no doubt that they exist!” exclaims the stout 60-year-old as he addresses his “students”, for the most
part tourists fascinated by Icelanders’ belief in elves.

What exactly is an elf? A well-intentioned being, smaller than a person, who lives outdoors and normally does not
talk. They are not to be confused with Iceland’s “hidden people”, who resemble humans and almost all of whom
speak Icelandic.

To convince sceptics that this is not just a myth, Skarphedinsson relays two “witness accounts”, spinning the tales
as an accomplished storyteller.

The first tells of a woman who knew a fisherman who was able to see elves who would also go out to sea to fish.
One morning in February 1921, he noticed they were not heading out to sea and he tried to convince the other
fishermen not to go out either. But the boss would not let them stay on shore.

That day, there was an unusually violent storm in the North Atlantic but the fishermen, who had heeded his warning
and stayed closed to shore, all returned home safe and sound. Seven years later, in June 1928, the elves again did
not put out to sea which was confusing because there had never been a fierce storm at sea at that time of year.
Forced to head out, they sailed waters that were calm but caught very few fish.
“The elves knew it,” the anthropologist claims.

The other “witness” is a woman in her eighties, who in 2002 ran into a young teen who claimed to know her.
Asking him where they had met, he gave her an address where she had lived 53 years ago where her daughter
claimed she had played with an invisible boy.
“But Mum, it’s Maggi!” exclaimed the daughter when her mother described the teen.
“He had aged fives times slower than a human being,” said Skarphedinsson.

Surveys suggest about half of Icelanders believe in elves.
“Most people say they heard [about them] from their grandparents when they were children,” said Michael Herdon,
a 29-year-old American tourist attending Elf School.

Iceland Magazine says ethnologists have noted it is rare for an Icelander to really truly believe in elves. But getting them
to admit it is tricky. “Most people tread lightly when entering into known elf territory,” the English-language publication
wrote in September.

That’s also the case with construction projects.
It may prompt sniggers, but respect for the elves’ habitat is a consideration every time a construction project is started in
Iceland’s magnificent countryside, which is covered with lava fields and barren, windswept lowlands.

Back in 1971, Skarphedinsson recalls how elves disrupted construction of a national highway from Reykjavik to the northeast.
The project, he says, suffered repeated unusual technical difficulties because they didn’t want a big boulder that served as
their home to be moved to make way for the new road.

“They made an agreement in the end that the elves would leave the stone for a week, and they would move the stone 15 metres.
This is probably the only country in the world whose government officially talked with elves,” Skarphedinsson says.

But Iceland is not the only country that is home to elves, he says. It’s just that Icelanders are more receptive to accounts of their
existence. “The real reason is that the Enlightenment came very late to Iceland.
“In other countries, with western scientific arrogance [and] the denial of everything that they have not discovered themselves,
they say that witnesses are subject to hallucinations.”...'

  The Butcher of Beijing Dies.
Posted by: BIAD - 07-23-2019, 08:49 PM - Forum: General News and Events - Replies (2)

Her's one's for Guohua's comments

Quote:Li Peng: Chinese premier who ordered Tiananmen Square crackdown dies.

'The former leader ordered a crackdown that spawned the enduring image of a protester blocking
the path of three tanks. The Chinese premier who ordered a bloody crackdown in Tiananmen Square
to counter pro-democracy protests has died.
Li Peng died at the age of 90 on Monday of an unspecified illness.

Li Peng (inset) ordered the crackdown in Tiananmen Square.

While he leaves behind a legacy of long-term economic growth, he is best known for his role in the
demonstrations that spawned the enduring image of a protester blocking the path of three tanks.

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in the centre of Beijing for a series of protests during the
spring and summer of 1989, which were brought to an end in hostile fashion by the military.

Mr Li was broadly disliked by the population as a result of what happened and became known as the
"Butcher of Beijing", but still spent another 13 years at the pinnacle of power before retiring in 2002.

Hundreds of thousands of people filled the square.

During that period he helped China rise in diplomatic and economic might, a development he proudly
celebrated in public statements that were often defiantly nationalistic.

In a 1995 speech to mark the anniversary of the 1949 revolution that brought the ruling Communist Party
to power, he celebrated how the country had rid itself from "imperialist bullying, humiliation and oppression".

He had risen to power as a result of what happened at Tiananmen Square, with pro-reform party leader
Zhao Ziyang being toppled for sympathising with the student protesters. Mr Li, who had become acting
premier in November 1987, told student leaders during a confrontational meeting that the situation "will
not develop as you wish and expect".

The next night, he went on national television to announce martial law in the capital "to end the turmoil"
- and hundreds of people were killed by troops when they invaded on 3 June.

In a lengthy eulogy read by the state broadcaster CCTV to mark his death, the current regime honoured the
"resolute measures" he took to quell the protests.

But it was not just Tiananmen that made him unpopular with some.
He spent his final years in power pushing through approval for the multi-billion pound Three Gorges Dam on
the Yangtze River, which forced 1.3 million people to leave homes that were swallowed up by its enormous
reservoir.

He eventually stepped down as premier in 1998 to become chairman of the Chinese parliament, before retiring.
Mr Li rarely appeared in public in his later years, usually seen only at official gatherings aimed at displaying unity...'

  Stats on Gun Violence
Posted by: 727Sky - 07-23-2019, 01:38 PM - Forum: Firearms and Related Topics - Replies (1)

Quote:
Quote:Subject: STATS ON GUN VIOLENCE

Interesting statistics!  This jives with the research of Prof. John Lott at the University of Chicago, who is a noted expert on gun laws and stats.

Here are some facts.

There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. The U.S. population is 324,059,091 as of June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.00925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant. What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:  65% of those deaths are by suicide, which would never be prevented by gun laws.

15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified.

17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons – better known as gun violence.

3% are accidental discharge deaths.

So technically, “gun violence” is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many? Now lets look at how those deaths spanned across the nation.

480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago
344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore
333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit
119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years)

So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause.

This basically leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation, or about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States have much higher rates than others. For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1.

Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far? California, of course, but understand, it is not guns causing this. It is a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So, if all cities and states are not created equal, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths.

Are 5,100 deaths per year horrific? How about in comparison to other deaths? All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime but that is the nature of crime. Robbery, death, rape, assaults are all done by criminals. It is ludicrous to think that criminals will obey laws. That is why they are called criminals.

But what about other deaths each year?

40,000+ die from a drug overdose–THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT!

36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths.
34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities(exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide).

Here’s a surprise:
200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. You are safer walking in the worst areas of Chicago than you are when you are in a hospital!

710,000 people die per year from heart disease. It’s time to stop the double cheeseburgers! So, what is the point? If the liberals and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.).

A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total number of gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides ……………. Simple, easily preventable 10% reductions! So, you have to ask yourself, in the grand scheme of things, why the focus on guns?

It’s simple:
Taking away guns gives control to governments. The founders of this nation knew that regardless of the form of government, those in power may become corrupt and seek to rule as the British did by trying to disarm the populace of the colonies. It is not difficult to understand that a disarmed populace is a controlled populace.

Thus, the second amendment was proudly and boldly included in the U.S. Constitution.

All the smears and innuendo over the last two years have been an a sick democratic wet fantasy dream

Quote:An adult film star who previously alleged an extramarital affair with Donald Trump now says in a statement the affair never happened.

A lawyer for porn actress Stormy Daniels confirmed his client’s statement Tuesday. Daniels’ real name is Stephanie Clifford.
Clifford has been on a publicity tour in recent weeks amid news of the alleged 2006 tryst with the president. She is scheduled to appear Tuesday on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Her publicist hasn’t answered questions about the statement.
Clifford has sought to tell her story before, in 2011 and again during the 2016 presidential campaign.
The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that Trump’s personal lawyer brokered a $130,000 payment to Clifford in October 2016 to keep her from publicly discussing it.
Trump’s lawyer has denied any affair.

Iran Is Not A Happy Bunny.
Posted by: BIAD - 07-22-2019, 11:38 AM - Forum: General News and Events - Replies (5)

With the game of 'Tanker Chess' continuing in the Persian Gulf and the Gibraltar Strait, Iran has upped its
propaganda game with its latest announcement.
It may be time for Gina Haspel to make a phone call.

Quote:Iran claims arrest of 17 CIA spies; some sentenced to death

'Iran's state media claimed Monday that authorities arrested 17 spies recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency to spy on
its nuclear and military sites. The semi-official Fars news agency said some of them have been sentenced to death.
It was not immediately clear if all the alleged spies were Iranian nationals.

The Fars news agency published images that Iran's Intelligence Ministry said showed the CIA officers who it claimed were in
touch with the suspected spies. The ministry said the agents had infiltrated organizations and institutions in Iran's private sector.
There was no immediate reaction from the CIA or U.S. officials about Iran's claim.

The arrests occurred over the past few months and come as Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers is under increasing strain
amid Washington's withdrawal a year ago from the accord and renewal of economic sanctions on Iran.
Tensions between the U.S., Britain and Iran have spiked in the Persian Gulf region near the Strait of Hormuz.

Soon-to-depart British Prime Minister Theresa May will chair an emergency security session Monday to discuss how to respond
to Iran’s seizure of a British-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway that is vital to the world’s oil supply.

The "Stena Impero" tanker was seized Friday and is now in a heavily guarded Iranian port.
Britain is considering a number of options to raise the pressure on Iran. Officials say military operations are not being considered.
The seizure followed a threat by Iran to respond to Britain's impounding of an Iranian oil tanker off Gibraltar, in the Mediterranean
Sea, that Britain said was on its way to Syria in breach of European Union sanctions. Iran disputes that its tanker was trying to
reach Syria, a close ally.

An audio recording released Sunday revealed the tense moments before the "Stena Impero" was seized by Iranian Revolutionary
Guard forces rappelling from helicopters.

State TV in Iran aired a documentary Monday that purported to show a CIA officer recruiting an Iranian man in the United Arab Emirates.
It was not clear if the broadcast was connected to the announcement about the alleged spies.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Last month, Iran's Intelligence Ministry claimed it "penetrated the U.S. safe system in cyberspace" used by the CIA for communicating
with American agents, according to Press TV, a state-run network that broadcasts in English. The CIA, which rarely publicly comments
on its national security activities, did not respond to the allegation...'

When elites decide to be Green.
Posted by: guohua - 07-20-2019, 08:19 PM - Forum: The Great Climate Change Debate - Replies (7)

Yes,  when elites decide to be green the little people suffer and California is the State Famous for Catering to the Elites and Illegale while the State FUCKS in average Real Citizen.
Here is the newest example of Liberal Stupidity.

Quote:Daniel Turner: California's latest descent into liberal madness – Berkeley bans natural gas

That's right, no more natural gas stove, heaters, fire places even outdoor grills.
This is So Very Ignorant, natural gas burns very clean and from what this article says, new restaurants will not be allowed to use gas stove or ovens, just electric.
So,,,,,,,, California gets most of it electric from Arizona and Utah and most by burning coal I think.

Quote:From sanctuary cities to brutally high taxes, California is the undisputed center of gravity for today’s far-left.

If you want to see how liberal policies would look on a national level, you don’t have to imagine it. You can just look at the thousands fleeing the once-great state.

In the latest chapter of California’s descent into liberal madness, the city of Berkeley – a hotbed of radical liberalism – became the first city in America to ban natural gas from new homes and businesses, including restaurants that use natural gas for stoves.

Environmentalists
are reportedly hailing this development as a major victory, and it might not be an isolated incident. More than 50 other cities in California are considering following Berkeley’s lead.

While it’s unsurprising that Berkeley – a city that’s already banned plastic straws – would ban natural gas, that’s little consolation to the citizens who have not yet fled.
I think it was California that lead the way in the 70's on Banning Paper Sack for Grocery stores. They went to plastic bags, now look at the environmental mess that made. tinysure
Stupid Bastards.

Quote:The logic behind the Berkeley ban seems to be this: we can help the planet and reduce carbon emissions by eliminating natural gas and switching to electric heating and cooking.

This is completely warped: the electric grid is powered predominantly by fossil fuels. The state prides itself on having very little coal, but it imports electricity from neighboring states like Utah and Arizona where it is generated by coal.

Somehow displacing the emissions from California to another state, and charging the taxpayers more, fulfills the criteria for being "green."

That's right,,,,,charge the taxpayers More, give them Less and demand other States produce their Power and Create Emissions.

Quote:Berkeley’s natural gas ban adds to the ever-increasing cost of homeownership in California, which has already been stressed by eco-demands.

The state is mandating that, beginning next year, every new home must be fitted with solar panels, raising the cost of a new home by $10,000. Higher home prices, higher electric bills, fewer choices – that’s the future Californians are being promised by their government.

It’s no wonder families are fleeing the state, and that California is led only by New York in out-migration.

Just look to our friends in Europe to see how damaging eco-policies can be. Citizens of Germany and Denmark, for instance, face electric rates around three times that of America.
Stupidity, California's MOTTO

People are leaving that state because of the taxes and Mexican being the Official Language, the problem with that is, they are moving and corrupting other states with their liberal ideas.

Chicken-Little Cortez Caught Out By Science.
Posted by: BIAD - 07-20-2019, 08:10 PM - Forum: The Great Climate Change Debate - Replies (7)

It seems the dancing actress Democrat was wrong again and science found out it wasn't
the cow farts. Orange Ball In The Sky Bad.

Quote:Bombshell Claim: Scientists Find "Man-made Climate Change Doesn't Exist In Practice"

'A new scientific study could bust wide open deeply flawed fundamental assumptions underlying
controversial climate legislation and initiatives such as the Green New Deal, namely, the degree to
which 'climate change' is driven by natural phenomena vs. man-made issues measured as carbon
footprint.

Scientists in Finland found "practically no anthropogenic [man-made] climate change" after a series
of studies.

Quote:“During the last hundred years the temperature increased about
0.1°C because of carbon dioxide.
The human contribution was about 0.01°C”, the Finnish researchers
bluntly state in one among a series of papers.

This has been collaborated by a team at Kobe University in Japan, which has furthered the Finnish
researchers' theory:
"New evidence suggests that high-energy particles from space
known as galactic cosmic rays affect the Earth's climate by
increasing cloud cover, causing an 'umbrella effect',"

The just published study has found, a summary of which has been released in the journal Science
Daily. The findings are hugely significant given this 'umbrella effect' -an entirely natural occurrence
-could be the prime driver of climate warming, and not man-made factors.

The scientists involved in the study are most concerned with the fact that current climate models
driving the political side of debate, most notably the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's
(IPCC) climate sensitivity scale, fail to incorporate this crucial and potentially central variable of
increased cloud cover.

"The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has discussed the impact of cloud cover
on climate in their evaluations, but this phenomenon has never been considered in climate predictions
due to the insufficient physical understanding of it," comments Professor Hyodo in Science Daily.

"This study provides an opportunity to rethink the impact of clouds on climate.
When galactic cosmic rays increase, so do low clouds, and when cosmic rays decrease clouds do as
well, so climate warming may be caused by an opposite-umbrella effect."

In their related paper, aptly titled, “No experimental evidence for the significant anthropogenic
[man-made] climate change”, the Finnish scientists find that low cloud cover "practically" controls
global temperatures but that “only a small part” of the increased carbon dioxide concentration is
anthropogenic, or caused by human activity.

The following is a key bombshell section in one of the studies conducted by Finland's Turku University
team:

Quote:We have proven that the GCM-models used in IPCC report AR5 cannot compute
correctly the natural component included in the observed global temperature.

The reason is that the models fail to derive the influences of low cloud cover fraction
on the global temperature. A too small natural component results in a too large portion
for the contribution of the greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide.

That is why 6 J. KAUPPINEN AND P. MALMI IPCC represents the climate sensitivity
more than one order of magnitude larger than our sensitivity 0.24°C. Because the
anthropogenic portion in the increased CO2 is less than 10 %, we have practically
no anthropogenic climate change.
The low clouds control mainly the global temperature.

This raises urgent questions and central contradictions regarding current models which politicians
and environmental groups across the globe are using to push radical economic changes on their
countries' populations.

Conclusions from both the Japanese and Finnish studies strongly suggest, for example, that
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's "drastic measures to cut carbon emissions" which would
ultimately require radical legislation changes to "remake the U.S. economy" would not only
potentially bankrupt everyone but simply wouldn't even work, at least according to the new
Finnish research team findings.

To put AOC's "drastic measures" in perspective -based entirely on the fundamental assumption
of the monumental and disastrous impact of human activity on the climate -consider the following
conclusions from the Finnish studies:

“During the last hundred years the temperature increased about 0.1°C because of carbon dioxide.
The human contribution was about 0.01°C.”
Which leads the scientists to state further:

“Because the anthropogenic portion in the increased carbon dioxide
is less than 10 percent, we have practically no anthropogenic climate
change,” the researchers concluded.

And the team in Japan has called for a total reevaluation of current climate models, which remain
dangerously flawed for dismissing a crucial variable:

Quote:This study provides an opportunity to rethink the impact of clouds on climate.
When galactic cosmic rays increase, so do low clouds, and when cosmic rays decrease clouds do
as well, so climate warming may be caused by an opposite-umbrella effect.

The umbrella effect caused by galactic cosmic rays is important when thinking about current global
warming as well as the warm period of the medieval era.

Failure to account for this results in the following, according to the one in the series of studies:
"The IPCC climate sensitivity is about one order of magnitude too high, because a strong negative
feedback of the clouds is missing in climate models."

"If we pay attention to the fact that only a small part of the increased CO2 concentration is
anthropogenic, we have to recognize that the anthropogenic climate change does not exist
in practice," the researchers conclude.

Though we doubt the ideologues currently pushing to radically remake the American economy
through what ends up being a $93 trillion proposal (according to one study) -including AOC's call
for a whopping 70% top tax rate -will carefully inquire of this new bombshell scientific confirmation
presented in the new research, we at least hope the US scientific community takes heed before it's
too late in the cause of accurate and authentic science that would stave off irreparable economic
disaster that would no doubt ripple across the globe, adding to both human and environmental
misery.

And "too late" that is, not for some mythical imminent or near-future "global warming Armageddon"
as the currently in vogue highly politicized "science" of activists and congress members alike claims...'
