Overwhelmed by this place

The accuracy of this sentiment...

One of the main reasons I tend to just lurk instead of engage is the utter lack of that warm and fuzzy feeling of being welcomed. This place actually has me beginning to network again with individuals that are not in my... How do I phrase this?... Immediate "In Real Life" circle. I had even effectively withdrawn from friends I have known for decades and family because things that we could talk, debate, or drunkenly rage at each other about issues in person 'once upon a time,' but can now only be done online because of distance and time. It's like I'm speaking with someone else entirely. Because of that, I lost my voice for the most part.

But here? HOLY SHIT. I mean, from my perspective... Literally within 48 hours of me engaging in a couple of topics, I check on the site only to see a banner on the home page that read...

'Making Sense of it With MalevolentTwitch'

...When I read that and saw what I believe to be the perfect juxtaposition? The banner made for me is hilariously perfect. Even if @BIAD was just making a cool banner my first thought was, "Fuck... This guy gets it." In that moment I was torn because I wanted to uncontrollably laugh while at that same time, salute.

I felt like I was home. I've not felt like that in a very long time. Thank You @BIAD for all that you do, Thank You @wtbengineer for creating this thread, and Thank You those that made this place possible.

Yeah, that's just how it made me feel.  I don't think I've ever felt that way anywhere.  Thanks for the post!

I also like your avatar a lot!   minusculebeercheers

Ah'll tell you MT, BIAD baffles me at times because of his way he seems to be able to read emotions.

(Seriously, thank you @"MalevolentTwitch" and @"wtbengineer" for your kind words and being here.
The internet doesn't have to be a place where one needs to constantly pretend to be hip and negative,
being nice far out-ranks it!

I think I figured out why I feel such a connection with BIAD.

He was dropped on his head from a height at some point, and I was dropped on my ass.

I truly am not sure, if it caused less damage, or not

Sometimes I think some of the damage was transferred.

Welcome back! I stumbled across this site only less than 4 months ago when that other site went dark. Gotta be the warmest, friendly forum board I've ever come across. I guess that's why I chose to stick around.

Life is a journey, a journey all about thinking. Many people stop half way. Laziness and the ever altering culture mostly I think. I've gotten to the point of where the more you learn, the more Qs you have (ad infinitum). Knowing is not the point. It's the experience (That our Soul Being chose) which is the point. Human history is quite an enigma. We know so little, and much of what we think we know seems to be highly questionable.

There is this thing called humor, it's a great thing. There is also this thing called smiling and laughing, even better things. These "things" are good for the Soul. Laugh often and try to make others laugh too. Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.

Want to be hip? I'd be happy settling for a hip that doesn't snap, crackle, and pop every time I get out of bed. And negativity? When the hell has that produced anything even so much as halfway decent other than music that makes one cringe?

Edit: Wait... Now I feel compelled to create a thread on music, the effect of specific tones (hertz) in relation to the brain, and how it affects individuals and society at large... Dammit man.

Hey thanks!  That's around the time I got here too.  Although it might have been right after when I saw people there referring to "RN" and talking about going there during the blackout.  So glad I found out what RN was.

Glad to see you here and so many others also!  I agree about knowing so little.  The longer I live and the more I learn the more I don't know a damn thing.
