Saudi Woman Held at Bangkok Airport
#1
This story is being carried at a few different locations. Saudi Woman Held at Bangkok Airport Fears
Family Will Kill Her If Repatriated...full title...
https://www.theepochtimes.com/saudi-woma...58834.html

[exnews]
A Saudi woman is being held at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand after trying to escape her family in Saudi Arabia.
Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun, 18, said she renounced her religion, Islam, and now fears for her life if repatriated as planned
on early Jan. 7.

According to a series of live videos and messages that Rahaf posted to Twitter, she had planned to travel to Australia to
apply for asylum.
Video from @rahaf84427714 just sent from her hotel room at the #Bangkok airport. She has barricaded herself in the room
& says she will not leave until she is able to see #UNHCR. Why is #Thailand not letting @Refugees see her for refugee status
determination? @hrw #SaveRahaf pic.twitter.com/3lb2NDRsVG

Rahaf told AFP news agency that after she landed in Bangkok, her passport was confiscated at the airport by Saudi
and Kuwaiti officials.

Her father had reported her for traveling without a male guardian. According to The Daily Mail, her father had told an airport
employee official via messaging app Whatsapp that she was mentally ill but did not provide evidence when asked.

She is mental for renouncing Islam and escaping by herself from an abusive family if she is to be believed.. She is 18 years
old which is twice as old as some of the brides in Saudi Arabia.. she should be free to make her own decisions about her life
IMO but... she will be killed for traveling without a family escort and renouncing Islam..
See the first link for video she posted and a more in depth article.

The Thai title of their article is: Saudi woman, 18, barricades self in Thai hotel to avoid being sent home..
If you call a transit room at Bangkok airport a hotel then maybe I should check on their prices and room service !

The local spin is she was refused a visa but her booking was for a continuation of a flight to Australia.
Something of the local Thai version is weird and smells of hanky panky IMO.
[exnews] "She has barricaded herself in the room & says she will not leave" until she is allowed to meet the U.N.
refugee agency and claim asylum, Human Rights Watch's deputy Asia director Phil Robertson said on Twitter.

Qunun was refused entry on Saturday by Thai immigration officials.
Thai authorities deny acting at the request of the Saudi government and say she did not have the correct
documents for a visa on arrival.

Yet her passport was confiscated at the airport by Saudi and Kuwaiti officials ... I am rather sure her passport was
handed to the Saudi and Kuwaiti officials by Thai immigration as the Saudi and Kuwaiti officials had requested...

She is being held at the airport as they took her passport away upon arrival. She has publicly renounced Islam
(that is a death sentence in Saudi Arabia).. Here farther and brother have already threatened to kill her.
Just one girl of 1000s but one girl brave enough to try to escape..

WHAT??!!  tinywhat The Religion of Peace wants to Kill Another Liberal Minded Female????  tinyok I Believe it!

Quote:Qunun said in a video posted to YouTube that she’d fled her family in Kuwait and had denounced her religion. She said she had acquired all the necessary documents to enter Thailand but Saudi officials from the embassy had confiscated everything.

“All of this is a plot by the Saudi Embassy to keep me detained here and to return to Kuwait,” she said.
Qunun told Human Rights Watch she fled to escape physical abuse from male relatives.
She said she’d previously been beaten, threatened with death, and was once forced to stay in her room for six months for cutting her hair.

“I’m sure 100% they will kill me as soon as I get out of the Saudi jail,” she said.
Looks like she has help now.
Quote:On Monday, UNHCR spokesperson Melissa Flemming tweeted directly to Qunun that representatives were at the airport trying to gain access to her hotel room. It is unclear whether Qunun’s hotel room was being guarded from the outside or if access was blocked by security officials from the lobby.

Flemming later tweeted that the Thai authorities had authorized the visit. “The Thai authorities have granted UNHCR, @Refugees access to Rahaf Mohammed Alqunun at Bangkok airport to assess her need for international refugee protection and find an immediate solution for her situation.”

In a statement Monday, the UNHCR noted that under international law, asylum-seekers cannot be returned to their country of origin if their life is under threat and said the agency has “been trying to seek access from the Thai authorities to meet with Rahaf Mohammed Alqunun.”

She refused to meet with her father or brother..don't blame her... The good news is she has departed for CANADA which has offered her asylum! Canada is already on Saudi's shit list so...so what.. I just hope some idiot who belongs to the religion does not take it upon himself to pop her in Canada... She would be smart to keep a very low profile IMO.

The media complain about the west being not diverse enough and yet, when it comes to
Saudi Arabia, it's just the way it is.

return to Kuwait, where her family were waiting.

She refused to fly back and barricaded herself into her airport hotel room, attracting international attention.
She said she had renounced Islam, which is punishable by death in Saudi Arabia.

The UN's refugee agency has said it considers her to be a legitimate refugee...'

I'd have thought -like you Sky, that Canada wouldn't be the ideal place to hide.
