That 45 is a lot like my 9mm that I'm completely uncomfortable with. I get embarrassed when I keep having to ask my husband to show me how to load it every time we go target practice.

To get comfortable, I would recommend only loading one or two bullets in a magazine at a time.  That will lend itself to the repetition necessary to making that operation 2d nature.

It’s not just the loading. It’s the whole, hold it this way, pull the slide(?) back, insert the magazine and press the doohickey on the side...I’m like which one?!

Then as I’m fumbling around all thumbs he seems frustrated and takes it away and does it for me. 

It also seems too big for my hands(oh good God shut up ) so that doesn’t help matters.
