Well.

I had Grace check the new theme on her cell phone, and she likes it in general. Her only complaints were that the reply box was too dark, which may well be a display problem on the phone, since here in the PC it is not so dark.

The colors looked "off" to me on the phone, but we couldn't find anywhere to change the theme so that I could check and see if she was in the default theme or a theme she had previously locked in.

So, I came to my laptop to check the colors of the new theme here, to see if I was misremembering it, and changed to the RoundoDarko theme, which as it turned out was a mistake. Now I am locked into it, so threads in tabs I already had open are the only threads I can currently get to.. There is no box at the bottom of the theme now to change back. Instead of the theme box, I see a "broken file" icon.

I may change to another theme in another open tab to see if i can get there from any other theme.

ETA: I changed to the "responsive" theme in another tab, and that theme gave me the choice to switch back to Dark 1.8. So it seems to just be the RoundoDarko theme where the theme switcher box is broken or missing.

Also, Grace had to try twice to get logged in on the cell phone, but got logged in on the second attempt. I explained to her that it was a glitch in the matrix for the new version of the base software that would be corrected in the next issue of it. I really think the first time logged her in, but just threw a fake failure message, then loaded the logged in site when the page refreshed after the second login attempt.

As an aside, an illustration of my Luddite non-superpowers is that when she tried to login from her laptop, she could not connect to the internet at all. I assessed that to be because I installed a new modem and router a couple weeks ago to take advantage of increased internet speeds around here, and she had not used it to get to the internet since then. So little old neanderthal me went to connect her laptop to the new router, and could not do it - she has Windows 8.1 on it, and the interface is such that i could find nowhere to make a network connection. In Windows 7 and below, it's easy as pie - just click on the network icon in the tray, and a connection dialog pops right up. Not so with Windows 8.1. Some stupid sidebar pops up with no choices to connect to any new networks, only the choice to connect to the old (now dead) network.

Such is life for us old farts.

.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
