I'm kinda partial to tripwires and weak floorboards, sometimes in combination with a 12 gauge shotgun shell inside a 3/4 inch iron pipe... but there is a lot to be said for those sorts that don't give any indications until it is too late, too! Those are the very essence of "booby traps"!
"Push-pull" tripwires, that trip whichever direction they go, whether tripped or cut, are pretty awesome, too!
