You're seeing it also.   It's creepy.   How long will it be before my mouth editor fails and I say something totally unacceptable like, "I'm not a member of the Church of Vaccinology" to some doc?

I was classically trained in science. Physics and Astronomy, specifically. University of North Carolina, 1994. They hammered into us what is, and what is not, "science", so that we did not make those mistakes, and so that we did better science. As a matter of fact, I actually took a class for an entire semester on the differences between science and religion.

Now they are violating each and every one of those differences, blurring them, and I believe in my heart it is intentional. We are witnessing the birth of a new religion, and the death of actual science.

Confirms what I've seen and my analysis of it.   I don't have as much science under my belt as you do--nor the class in the difference between science and religion--but I did get enough training in the scientific method, statistics and literature analysis that when the stink gets bad enough, I can tell the difference.   (Was going after a PhD until I found out my kidneys were failing.)

I think you're right about funding being the primary cause of it.  As an interesting tidbit:  Coleman says it goes farther back than that.   He pointed to a few early physicians whose science bucked the norm, and they were not treated well.   He thinks the medical community is just very backwards in its willingness to "rock the boat", maybe more so than other communities.   If this was happening back in the 18th century, does that mean that while funding may have exacerbated the problem, there's something within the medical community itself that is intransigent generation after generation?   Like arrogance and narcissism, something that precludes admitting one has been wrong?

What's really bad is that when science becomes more like a religion than true scientific endeavor, you can't question it.   You're treated as a true heretic if you don't follow the party line.   That's one of the signs IMO.
