All of "science" is becoming a religion, carried by faith and hope alone, not supported by the actual documentation, experimentation, and observation - you know, all those things that used to make science "science". And, like all good religions, the adherents are clinging to the parts of their Good Books that they want to agree with, and tossing the parts that are inconvenient to their chosen narrative.
