We don't have snakes that large over here in the UK, unless one was
released from captivity and I don't think a boa constrictor would chance
those cold, peaty waters anyway.

Like I say, it's a bit of a stretch. The only other option is....
(Oh my, I actually put my foot in that loch, a few years ago!)
