How quaint. Herr Hitler tried to do that, by "annexing" the bulk of Europe and "integrating" soldiers into the German War Machine, didn't he? Now Frau Merkel is about to git 'er done, on an even larger scale and with less resistance.

Just curious, but how big would this European army be after the integration? Just wondering as a passing curiosity, as a million men can drop dead as easily as a thousand - you just need more bullets and less sleep to get it accomplished.
