I think it is a good idea. As they are ex-officials from various agencies, it would involve a lot of people reviewing things but so what? Number one reason is personal conduct issues which this seems to clearly indicate.
However, these guys are (or at least were) the deepest of the deep. They have a strangle hold on the whole security clearance process. If you or I did something like this while holding a federal security clearance, we'd be lucky if we just got fired. But them?
