Gaetz Pushes To Strip Security Clearances From Intel Officials Who Dismissed Hunter B
#1
Probably nothing will come of it but it would be nice to root out lying ass political operatives from our Federal agencies.

I see this as a good start though I doubt it will ever get any traction, at least until after the mid-terms (if they don't achieve fraudulent mail in voting that is).

Gaetz Pushes To Strip Security Clearances From Intel Officials Who Dismissed Hunter Biden Laptop Story

Quote:Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) introduced legislation on Tuesday, dubbed the “Spook Who Cried Wolf Resolution,” to bar security clearances for 51 intelligence officials who signed on to a letter in the fall of 2020 claiming that the story about Hunter Biden’s laptop was part of a Russian disinformation operation.
Gaetz said in a press release:

Quote:On October 19, 2020, 51 former intelligence officials signed a letter titled, “Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails,” which claimed Hunter Biden’s emails were a part of a “Russian information operation.” Following the censorship of the New York Post’s exposé on the emails by Big Tech and media tycoons, the New York Times confirmed the legitimacy of the emails on March 17, 2022. As of March 22, 2022, 4 of the 51 signatories maintained their support for the erroneous letter.
“The 51 signatories of the letter who publicly and falsely decried Hunter Biden’s laptop to be Russian disinformation should be barred from holding any level of security clearances indefinitely,” Gaetz’s resolution states.

I think it is a good idea. As they are ex-officials from various agencies, it would involve a lot of people reviewing things but so what? Number one reason is personal conduct issues which this seems to clearly indicate.

Quote:Personal conduct is “conduct involving questionable judgment, untrustworthiness, unreliability, lack of candor, dishonesty, or unwillingness to comply with rules and regulations could indicate that the person may not properly safeguard classified information.”

However, these guys are (or at least were) the deepest of the deep. They have a strangle hold on the whole security clearance process. If you or I did something like this while holding a federal security clearance, we'd be lucky if we just got fired. But them?

It would be nice if this gained traction and produced fruit. Sick of the lies in government.

As @"Abnarty" mentioned. evidence of dishonest behavior is grounds for removal of, or denial of, a security clearance. Hell, you can be denied one for just having too much (or too little) debt - they theory is that you aren't handling money correctly, and may therefore be bought with cash payments by foreign operatives who know that.

The correct action would have been to remain silent on the matter, rather than lie about it.

Furthermore, the intelligence services, like the military, are supposed to be apolitical, not take sides along party lines. You cannot trust people in executive position if they take sides for one party against another in INTERNAL political disputes - especially when they lie to support their boys, as these folks have done.

If they did not know they were lying, and thought that the bullshit they were spouting was truth, then they said it in good faith, but it should not have been said at all. Beyond that, if they can be that wrong about internal matters, how can they be trusted to provide correct intelligence on external matters?

They are not trustworthy.

They should have their security clearances revoked, as well as their retirement pensions, for malfeasance and misconduct in office.

Lower level operatives get prison time for lesser offenses - so just taking their security clearance and pension and throwing them out of government intel service into the wind is letting them off lightly.

.
Diogenes was eating bread and lentils for supper. He was seen by the philosopher Aristippus, who lived comfortably by flattering the king.

Said Aristippus, ‘If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.’ Said Diogenes, ‘Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.’
