It's all my fault. Putting elevators in for 34 years made all the later generations fat. 

Before that, people were skinny because they had to take the stairs.

I need an elevator to my basement... Feeling helpful? Hahaha hahaha

Oh, I could rig up something from materials from Harbor Freight, but you need to sign a waiver releasing me from any liability.

I've got some old polypropylene rope and a section of 2x10 for a seat, so all you'd have to get from Harbor Freight would be the pulleys...

I was thinking more along the lines of an electric winch, but if you want to go old school, I would recommend a 3 to 1 rope block.
