I agree with you. The response has made no sense unless one looks at it through the lens you mention.
Pound down small business, a few mega-corps make out like bandits, torpedo education for the young-ins (and I thought it couldn't get worse, I was wrong), turn up the heat on the frogs, mini-tyrant wanna-be's pols expand their fiefdoms, and hammer hard that last nail in the news coffin.
The part that really bothers me are many of the people around me. They genuinely seem to enjoy the nonsense. They watch the info-campaigns in the media and get wrapped around the axle with worry. They ignore the obvious VAST holes in the plan to keep people healthy. And simply loves them some mask shaming.
I'm in my 50's and thought I kinda' had things figured out a little bit. Again, I was wrong. I do not know many of the people I thought I knew.
