Man charged with raping child in Rochdale amid CSE probe.
'A man from Rochdale has been charged with raping a child, police have said.
Osman Ali, 24, of Corbett Street, has been charged with six counts of raping a
child under 13.
His arrest came after a report of child sexual exploitation was made on Tuesday,
Greater Manchester Police said. Mr Ali has been remanded into police custody
and is due to appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court later...'

'The evil predator who led the Rochdale child sex grooming gang - Shabir Ahmed
-is locked up in Leeds prison and fighting efforts to deport him back to his native
Pakistan.
He is serving a 22-year jail term.
Ahmed, a former taxi driver, was described as the ‘ringleader’ of the nine-strong group
found guilty of exploiting girls as young as 13 at Tasty Bites and another takeaway in
Heywood from 2007.
He was convicted of two counts of rape, one sex assault, trafficking and conspiracy to
engage in sexual activity with a child.
He led the early part of the grooming plot and raped the prosecution’s main witness as
she sobbed.
Ahmed, who encouraged his victim to call him Daddy, told her: “Please don’t cry – I love you.”
He bought her alcohol and ferried her to sex parties for other men in return for cash, telling
her girls could have sex from the age of 11 ‘in my country’.
He admitted a year-long sexual relationship with another young girl.
He tried to dismiss the prosecution as ‘white lies’, even launching foul-mouthed tirades against
the ‘racist’ judge and jury. He even left one of the jurors in tears after appearing to leer at her.
In court, he dramatically removed his shirt and pulled out a handful of his own chest hair in a
bizarre attempt to show the jury that he sheds so much hair he would have left some at the
scene of his crime.
He is now appealing against a decision to strip him of UK citizenship...'

the authority’s failures to stop a shocking case of child sexual exploitation.
The council’s new cabinet member tasked with sorting out the crisis-hit children’s department
has said she “will leave no stone unturned” in getting to the bottom of how the council missed
opportunities to stop a campaign of abuse against girls in Birkenhead.
This week the ECHO revealed Wallasey Town Hall could have stopped the exploitation carried
out by the twisted Rajenthiram brothers three years before their arrests.
It follows a damning Ofsted report on the state of the department which was published last year.
Vinothan and Ilavarasan Rajenthiram were this week jailed for a combined 40 years for the abuse
and grooming they conducted from their Wirral newsagents.
Wirral Council’s director of children’s services Julia Hassall has resigned her position and Cllr
Tony Smith has lost his children’s portfolio on the council’s cabinet.
Under-fire council leader Phil Davies has now made Cllr Bernie Moony his new deputy leader
with a special responsibility for children’s services.
And she has immediately issued a threat to anyone culpable in the council’s failings that their
jobs are on the line...'
