This has always been one of my favorite conspiracies. I spent quite a bit of time reading and watching videos about it. When I was younger I had nightmares about sailors fused with the walls and deck of the ships. I spent quite a bit of time trying to get that out of my head (while being piping mad at the navy for even trying it). But it's a fascinating story nonetheless.
True? Who knows. But if a document came out tomorrow showing that it happened I wouldn't be surprised one bit. I would however be surprised if we never conducted further testing (if it was indeed this "successful") and aren't utilizing the technology to this day.
