Does being a spook pay well?

I always wondered this, is it actually a good paying gig or is it no better than flipping burgers for people that aren't very good with money.

I always thought it would be somewhat interesting, that line of work. I'm sure it takes a special breed and someone above average that has an eclectic set of skills. But is there actually good money in it.

I figured I usually fit the bill, from a social standpoint and intellectual standpoint(I'm far from one to usually say nice things about myself).

Just babbling here.
