China incidentally also shares a small border with Afghanistan called the Wakhan Corridor – 210km long. While the length of the border may appear insignificant, its location is crucial. Afghanistan is believed to have large deposits of gold, iron, copper, zinc, lithium and other rare-earth metals, valued at over $1 trillion. "Afghanistan may hold 60 million metric tons of copper, 2,2 billion tons of iron ore, 1,4 million tons of rare earth elements (REEs) such as lanthanum, cerium, neodymium, and veins of aluminium, gold, silver, zinc, mercury…" according to a 2020 report in The Diplomat.

The real reason we were there.
It wasn't about the Opium as mush as Raw Materials, is the past 5 years the price of Lithium Ion & Iron Phosphate Batteries had decreased drastically, now you can expect to pay more and more as China take Control of over 1 Trillion Dollars in Lithium.

I noticed it because it`s from my country.

From what my husband has found, the Sodium Based Batteries have the potential of replacing the Lithium Ion batteries in your Cell Phone/Laptops and other rechargeable devices like flashlights.
Maybe even electric vehicles.
There really isn't a lot out there yet, still being developed and tested.
But I do have a warning for you, China is building and testing Sodium batteries also.

The big difference is Lithium IRON Phosphate Batteries, which are used in most Hospital portable CCT Scan machine and portable X-Ray machines because of their power output and long life, 15,000 to 25,000 cycles (recharge), they don't have the Problem of exploding like the Lithium ION batteries do if over charged.
Also the big difference is the Weight of the batteries, Lead Acid is just Heavy.

One Deep Cycle 27F lead acid battery can weighs between 50 & 70 pounds where as Lithium ION in a 12 volt configuration will weigh about 28 pounds and a Lithium IRON Phosphate 12 volt system will weigh about 30 pounds. But this depends on the Amp Hours you choice for Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries.
