There has got to be more to the story. Has to be. Otherwise this is criminal. 

I couldn't blame her of she swoops her daughter up in the middle of the night and high tails it to someplace far away.

I kind of hope there's more to the story.  I'd go nuclear if some turd showed up to take my kid.  Berserker bloodbath.

This goes to show that our government, inept in many many things, isn't so inept at others.  How do you take people's freedoms away without causing a revolution?  Take it away teaspoon by teaspoon until it becomes normal.
