While chasing his father for Now Apparent Reason.
No Arrest Warrants or Weapon Found found in vehicle.

Quote:CBS reports that Marksville, LA officers Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Derrick Stafford were involved with a brief vehicle chase earlier this week. They have not said why they tried to pull over Christopher Few and his 6-year old autistic son Jeremy Mardis, just that they briefly pursued him.

At the conclusion of this chase, Officers Greenhouse and Stafford opened fired on the car, pumping 18 rounds into the vehicle. Christopher Few was hit twice and has bullet fragments in his head and lungs. He is critical condition. His young son was hit 5 times in the head and chest. He died in his car seat.

A third officer, called in for back up, recorded the shooting with his police body camera. That officer has stated that Few was not acting in a threatening manner toward police. Few did not have a warrant for his arrest and there was no weapon found in his vehicle.

The two officers involved in the shooting tried to say that Few used his vehicle to ram their cruiser but the evidence doesn’t support that. Asked if Few should be blamed in any way for the shooting, Edmonson replied:

“It doesn’t seem from what we see because we don’t know why they were trying to chase him,” said Edmonson.
This shooting was so outrageous and unjustified that the police aren’t even trying to protect the officers involved. Greenhouse and Stafford were arrested on Friday and charged with second degree murder for the killing of 6-year old Jeremy and attempted second degree murder for the shooting of his father, Christopher Few. They are both being held without bail.

Quote:UPDATE: Norris Greenhouse, Jr. released, remains under house arrest
Quote:Norris Greenhouse, Jr., the Ward Two police officer and suspect in the shooting death of 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis, has been granted bond.
He was arrested earlier this month, along with fellow officer Derrick Stafford, for the murder of Jeremy Mardis and the attempted murder of the boy's father, Chris Few.
Tuesday afternoon, Judge William J. Bennett of Marksville ordered that Greenhouse be granted bond. Both suspects were being held on $1 million dollar bonds each, and the Greenhouse family put up property to post Norris Jr.'s bond.
There was a delay in the bond process due to Norris' father, Norris Greenhouse, Sr. being an Assistant District Attorney. Greenhouse Jr. remained in the Rapides Parish lockup until Tuesday afternoon.
Here is an excerpt from Judge Bennett's reason for ruling:
"There certainly are no ethical considerations applicable to Norris Greenhouse, Sr. He is simply a father who desires his son to be released from jail pending trial. This is the desire of parents in 99.9% of cases that this Court agrees or disagrees with the decision of Norris and Cheryl Greenhouse to secure the release of their son pending Trial based on certain security and/or safety issues, they as parents have made a decision to post a massive bond in order to secure the release of their son."
