State research centre of virology and biotechnology VECTOR in Novosibirsk has already developed two tests kits that were supplied to several Russian regions.
The researchers are hoping to get vaccines ready for trial by the beginning of summer, the centre’s director general Rinat Maksyutov said.
'We are developing two vaccine prototypes which should go through tests in June’, Maksyutov said.
RosPotrebNadzor, Russia's federal body for consumer right protection and well-being, told The Siberian Times that VECTOR Virology Centre 'has already developed test kits for laboratory diagnostics of the new pathogen.'
'The kits are based on a molecular genetic method called polymerase chain reaction, or PCR', the spokesperson said, adding that the test kit 'allows to establish the new coronavirus 2019-nCoV in 2 to 4 hours'.

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that usually infect animals but can sometimes be transmitted between animals and humans, and lead to a range of illnesses.
A new strain of coronavirus started in Wuhan, China, and has sickened 5,974 people and killed at least 132 in China alone as of January 29.
