Pelosi 'afraid' to send impeachment articles to Senate.

'WASHINGTON – A day after voting along mostly party lines to impeach President Donald Trump for
abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, lawmakers are set to return to the Capitol as House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced some uncertainty to the future timeline of the impeachment process. 

Pelosi has been noncommittal about when she'll send the articles of impeachment to the Senate for a
trial, during which senators will vote on whether to convict Trump and remove him from office. 

On Thursday, lawmakers will also deliberate and likely pass a major bipartisan trade agreement to
replace the North American Free Trade Agreement – the United States Mexico-Canada Agreement.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wouldn’t say when the articles of impeachment would be sent to the
Senate for a trial that will determine whether Trump will be removed from office.

Pelosi appeared to give herself room to delay sending over the articles. She explained she wanted to
see the process in the Senate before deciding who would serve as House managers, the lawmakers
tasked with prosecuting the case in the Senate, and how many to send over.

On Wednesday, Pelosi appeared to hint that articles could be held to ensure Senate Majority Leader
Mitch McConnell establishes fair procedures for a trial. "I’m not prepared to put the managers in that
bill because we don’t know the arena we are in," Pelosi told reporters at a weekly news conference.
“Frankly, I don’t care what the Republicans say.”

She added that the House wants a fair process and says she saw some remarks offered by McConnell
earlier on the Senate floor. “It reminded me that our founders, when they wrote the Constitution, they
suspected there could be a rogue President.

I don't think they suspected we could have a rogue President and a rogue leader in the Senate at the
same time,” Pelosi said of McConnell.The Kentucky Republican has said he was working in close
coordination with the White House on how the Senate trial would run and has denied Democratic
requests for witnesses and documents to be subpoenaed.

In a Thursday tweet, Trump accused Pelosi of being "afraid" of transmit the articles of impeachment
to the Senate. "Pelosi feels her phony impeachment HOAX is so pathetic she is afraid to present it
to the Senate, which can set a date and put this whole SCAM into default if they refuse to show up!"
he wrote on Twitter. "The Do Nothings are so bad for our Country!"...'
