Ironically it seems like Putin itself helped Ukrainians to unite , after what happens about 8 years ago and now people fight better as united against Russia .

Musashi was perhaps the greatest samurai swordsman who ever lived. Killed his first opponent at the age of 13 with a training bokken. He went on to become a samurai, and then later a ronin, traveling around the country fighting duels. After a few years of that, when it was apparent that he just wasn't losing, ever, it lost the thrill so he retired. Spent his last years living alone in a cave, and used that time to distill his knowledge into a small book called "A Book of Five Rings". The book is a classic, and if properly applied will yield victory in any situation. Musashi himself said in that book "from one thing, know 10,000 things", meaning that if the broad principles he set down were properly interpreted, understood, and applied to any given situation, they would yield favorable results whether in war, business, or international or even  interpersonal relationships.

Putin not only pulled Ukraine together, but he also seems to have reinvigorated NATO, the one thing he DIDN'T want to do! NATO was pretty much on it's death bed, but in comes Putin and it roars back to life with a vengeance. I just can't figure out why he didn't see that coming... so I'm pretty confident he's never read nor pondered either of those two books.

If you threaten a man, or a nation, beyond his limits, he will almost always react in ways inimical to the threat. So if Putin loves his children, he needs to stop threatening ours with things like nuclear annihilation. That will, in the end, no go so well for Russian children, either. We may have different ideologies, but we all have the same biology, and a Russian kid will glow just as brightly as an American kid after a sufficient amount of nuclear irradiation. It would behoove Putin to keep that fact in mind while tossing threats of annihilation  around.

.

I want to read the A Book of Five Rings,  i am lazy reader but maybe i can do it .

Russia’s Ex-Foreign Minister on His ‘Totalitarian’ Country

The old cold war never really ended, because the people who has KGB background got power in Russia, and they never wanted new Russia or ending the cold war , Putin and hes cronies allmost all are ex KGB ....for the the ideal order is with cold war ...

It is looking like the Winter War in 1939-40.

Ukraine is fighting.  But they can't hold out forever on their own.

Putin's army is incompetent.  But they'll get better under the pressure of war.  At some point, Russia will 'win', although that 'win' may not be what Putin wants.

Re: Russian regime.

Conspiracy theorists enjoy discussing the concept of the 'Deep State'.  They seem to miss the idea that countries other than the USA have deep states as well.  Russia had one since at least 1917.  What is different now is that the Russian deep state has become THE state.  They eliminated all other centers of power.  Thus, Putin and his ilk who can't see the world in terms of anything but the Cold War.

Cheers

Yes a lot like winter war , the Ukrainians have same spirit and courage , while Russians have some very bad issues on troops in mental level.

Uk is considering sending Starstreak manpads, that would be good, mach 3 speed .....

It does seem like there are deep state also in Russia , now they act more like they dont care about what others think, they come out from the box .

I found this part of the article interesting:

Quote:“I think what prompted Putin and his inner circle,” Kozyrev tells me, “is that they see this is really a crucial moment, a tipping point for Europe and the world. Despite certain deviations in, say, Hungary and Turkey, there has been a general movement toward more democracy and openness. This terrifies Putin.”

It would be nice to live in one of those places he mentions that are moving towards more democracy and openness, but here I am in the USA, which is running as hard as it can in the opposite direction currently.

I do agree with him that there was a window right after the Soviet Empire collapsed where we could have made a difference in Russia, and found ourselves on friendly footing with them now, but that window slammed shut. I disagree with him that Bush and Cheney were the men to get the job done. If they had been, they would have. They were not - they were just more Neocon lackeys of the MIC with a vested interest in keeping war going on so their buddies would roll in money and give them suitable kickbacks. So instead of investing in Russian freedom and openness, they decided to make war on Iraq. Likewise, Warren Christopher was just a bureaucratic paper-pushing idiot.

I don't think Putin is doing this out of any perception that America is getting freer, more democratic, or more open. I think he is doing it at this time because he perceives America to be weak, and moving into the direction of being a rival totalitarian state. If he didn't do it now, he might have to deal with a strong American leader and a stronger American military after the next election cycle, and a strengthening rival totalitarian state in the  American Federal Empire, and that would make his goal even tougher to attain.

In other words, he panicked and pulled the trigger because he thought the iron was hot right now, and might cool back down before he could strike.

Panic in never a good basis for decision making, and it's showing.

The European MSM are currently impressing the public with outrage regarding Russia's allegedly
bombing a maternity hospital in Ukraine. That's the same Ukraine where Hunter Biden worked.

But at the time of posting, the verification of the deaths and injuries is still dubious and hence the
BBC title and text not representing the incident. However, visuals entertain and are not accountable.

Quote:Kyiv and Moscow to hold high-profile talks

'The foreign ministers of Russia and Ukraine are to hold talks in Turkey, as Moscow's all-out invasion of its neighbour
enters its third week. Ukraine's Dmytro Kuleba said ahead of the face-to-face meeting with his Russian counterpart
Sergei Lavrov that his expectations were "limited".

Aftermath of an airstrike on the Maternity Hospital, Mariupol, Ukraine

It comes after Ukraine accused Russia of bombing a children's hospital - an attack Kyiv says is a "war crime".
Ukraine says 17 people were hurt in the attack in Mariupol on Wednesday.

Footage has since emerged showing a building - which also housed a maternity ward - reduced to a shell, with a huge
crater nearby. The bombing has been widely condemned, with the UN Secretary General António Guterres describing
the attack as "horrific", and the US accusing Russia of a "barbaric use of military force to go after innocent civilians".

But Russia's deputy ambassador to the UN, Dmitry Polyanskiy, said the bombed hospital had been "turned into a military
object by [Ukrainian] radicals". Mariupol - where about 400,000 people live - has been surrounded by Russian forces for
several days, and repeated attempts at a ceasefire to allow civilians to leave have broken down.

"The whole city remains without electricity, water, food, whatever and people are dying because of dehydration," Olena
Stokoz of Ukraine's Red Cross told the BBC on Wednesday. Russian warplanes also hit residential areas in overnight
raids in Ukraine's north-eastern Sumy region, local officials said.

Ahead of Thursday's talks in Antalya, southern Turkey, Mr Kuleba said: "Frankly... my expectations of the talks are low."
Ukraine's foreign ministry said that Kyiv was seeking an immediate "cessation of hostilities and the war against Ukraine
by Russia".

Forget the BBC map, the actual hospital is north-east of where they located it. Here:

Meanwhile, Russia is demanding that Ukraine abandons its stated plans to join the Nato military alliance, and becomes
a neutral-status state. It also says Kyiv must accept Moscow's jurisdiction over Crimea - the southern Ukrainian peninsula
annexed by Russia in 2014. And Russia is pressing for Kyiv to recognise two self-proclaimed rebel regions in eastern
Ukraine.

Three previous rounds of talks held in recent days failed to find any breakthrough, although the two warring sides agreed
on establishing humanitarian corridors to help evacuate civilians from several besieged cities.
Ukraine said it expected more civilians would be allowed to leave cities besieged by Russian troops later on Thursday...'

Q: How many Russian soldiers does it take to screw in a light bulb?

A: apparently about 10 times as many as it would take of Ukrainian soldiers.

Since NATO is a mutual defense pact, the "red Line" is supposed to be an attack on a NATO member... unless they lose their damned minds and panic if Putin uses chemical weapons. No one did shit when the Soviets used chemical weapons in Afghanistan other than to claim it wasn't true. But it was.

Then again, tear gas is a chemical weapon used by just about every police force in the world, so it's hard to condemn someone else for doing the same damned thing your own people do.

Finnish police don't use tear gas? Because tear gas is also a chemical weapon. US police don't care a bit to hose us down with tear gas or pepper spray, so the US ain't got no business complaining about chemical weapons useage. We've got that blood on our own hands, used against our own citizens.

Come to think of it, the US doesn't have any business complaining about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We'll go half way around the world to invade sovereign nations we don't have any business poking around in.

And, in the case of the US, they've got no business complaining about a nation invading a neighboring sovereign nation that used to be a part of the invading nation before going sovereign - the US did that too, and it led to a 4 year war that was one of the bloodiest wars in our history. That led to the US occupation and eventual re-annexation of the Confederate States. I live in what was Military District 1 of the US Occupation Government under martial law before we were forcibly annexed back into the US under an occupation government.

It's a bit hypocritical for the BidenHarris regime to condemn the Russians for doing under Putin the same damned thing the US did under Lincoln, but The Masters don't like it much when the peons start breaking away, I guess.

Don't get me wrong - I'm all for the Ukrainians kicking ass and taking names on invading Russians, it's just that it's not OUR war to fight - we already fought ours, we've already seen that movie. So the US needs to keep their noses out of that war unless it spreads to somewhere that IS our business. That would make it "our war to fight", but until then, not so much.

Where it's going to get dicey is when Putin decides to invade somewhere like Poland, or Hungary, or Romania - those are now NATO members, and if Putin tries to invade them to re-form the Warsaw Pact as a buffer zone against NATO, well, that would be the kickoff for WWIII.

I am guessing again but it seems Putin is the boogey man for any and every thing this last week. Rising gas prices, inflation, and bad breath.

The propaganda and BS flying on the media on the matter is enough to turn my stomach. It's bad enough Russia invaded their neighbor and their neighbor doesn't like it. Understandable. If the news stopped there, I would be OK with it.

Instead what we have is every failure and mis-step of the last two years somehow tied to Russia. POS politicians playing the shell game like the public is historically illiterate. And to be fair, a lot are. I have a family member who texts me with every affront to human decency spelled out on the media AM shows. Did you know Russians eat babies?

The sin here, IMHO, the problems are not being addressed. Weasels are allowed to skate away (read: Trudeau/Biden/Harris/BJ). Meanwhile the people of Ukraine suffer as merely stage props for liars. I sure do want to pick up a weapon but it's not about Russia and Ukraine.

I'll shut up now.

1. Very true. Quantity has a quality all to it's own or something like that.

2. I agree this is accurate. It makes me wonder about the US. There is NO WAY on the Lord's green Earth the jokers in DC can run anything. Biden? Harris? Pelosi? Straight Potemkin Village.
