I think it could be hyped up that EVERYTHING will be shut down. Maybe it's just certain places. So far the CDC is requesting no public gatherings of more than 50 people.
I know certain places have closed in my area for the next few weeks. Hopefully we won't have things get so bad that a full-blown lock down is ordered.
People have to go to the grocery store and some to the laundry mat. Closing these businesses could create more panic than this virus is worth. Actually, it's already at that point.
Here in Finland the government has just published what they are going to do. Schools, university's, training centers ect will be closed as from Wednesday. The young, old and vulnerable people will be treated as a the must important. Systems will be put in place to make sure people get paid.
Borders will be closed but at the moment inter country travel is still allowed, but laws are in place to change that if needed, also food delivery's will be continued no matter what. Basically everything the UK should be doing but is not.
So in Finland so far so good.

Well, there you have it. I guess it's just the larger, stinkiest cities that need to be locked down.
This is not going to be a nation wide event, at least not yet.

How does the new coronavirus compare to influenza?

We were asked by readers how the Covid-19 and SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes it, compares to influenza,
in terms of both its infection rate and its death rate.
It is difficult to get a precise infection or death rate for either illness. Covid-19 is a new disease, and data on the number
of infections is imperfect. The number of influenza cases, meanwhile, can vary a great deal year-to-year, depending on
various factors including which of the many strains of the virus are spreading.
However, the World Health Organisation has attempted to compare the two.
Covid-19 could be deadlier, and more likely to put someone in hospital
Based on current evidence, Covid-19 has the potential to kill more people and cause more hospitalisations than seasonal
influenzas. However, it hasn’t done so yet, because so far it hasn’t spread as widely as seasonal flu.
Seasonal flu is still a major killer, which contributes to the rise in death rates during colder months, and to the overloading of
medical systems in winter. Dr Suzanna McDonald, national programme lead for influenza at Public Health England, warned:
“Whilst the flu is common, it can be deadly for older adults, very young children and people with underlying health conditions.”
The WHO estimates that between 290,000 and 650,000 respiratory deaths globally each year are associated with seasonal
influenza.
Public Health England estimates that on average 17,000 people have died from the flu in England annually between 2014/15
and 2018/19. However, the yearly deaths vary widely¾from a high of 28,330 in 2014/15 to a low of 1,692 in 2018/19.
Public Health England does not publish a mortality rate for the flu.
The USA’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does publish estimates of the number of flu cases annually,
including estimates for the number of hospitalisations and the number of deaths.
The number of cases has ranged from nine million to 45 million a year, and the number of deaths ranged from 12,000 to 61,000.
These figures suggest that over the past decade in the United States, the percentage of flu cases that resulted in hospitalisation
has consistently been between 1% and 2%, and the percentage of cases that resulted in death has been between 0.1% and 0.2%.
The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases and deaths is changing quickly. At the time of writing on Wednesday March 11, there
were over 120,000 confirmed cases globally and over 4,300 deaths. In the UK, 456 people have tested positive and six have died.
(From today, 17th March 2020, the UK has had 55 deaths.)
According to the WHO, current evidence on the new coronavirus suggests 15% of all illnesses are severe infections, requiring
oxygen, and 5% are critical infections requiring ventilation. These levels are “higher than what is observed for influenza infection”.
Mortality rates also appear to be higher for the new coronavirus, although the WHO does warn that the “true mortality of Covid-19
will take some time to fully understand”. Based on current data, the crude mortality rate (the number of reported deaths divided by
the reported cases) is between 3-4%—although the actual rate, when including mild cases where people do not get diagnosed,
is likely to be lower.
Globally, for seasonal influenza, the WHO estimates the mortality rate is usually below 0.1%.
However, the WHO also notes that mortality is “to a large extent determined by access to and quality of healthcare”.
Influenza can spread faster, but this coronavirus may infect more people
In its analysis, the WHO says that both the time from infection to the appearance of symptoms, and the time between successive
cases is shorter for the influenza virus, meaning that it is able to spread quicker than the new coronavirus.
It also says that a “major driver of transmission” for influenza is transmission in the first three to five days of the illness or even
before symptoms have appeared, while this does not yet appear to be the case with the new coronavirus.
The analysis says each person with Covid-19 infects an average of between two and 2.5 other people with the virus, which is higher
than the rate for influenza, but it notes that direct comparisons are difficult because the estimates are “very context and time specific”.
The most at-risk groups are also slightly different between the two illnesses. Current understanding of Covid-19 suggests that elderly
people and those with underlying illnesses have the biggest risk of developing a severe infection, while those most at-risk from
influenza also include children and pregnant women.
Initial evidence suggests that, while children are important drivers of transmitting influenza, they are less affected than adults by Covid-19.
There is no vaccine for this coronavirus
While there are vaccines and anti-viral medications available to combat influenza, no vaccine currently exists for this new coronavirus.
The WHO says clinical trials are ongoing and there are more than 20 vaccines in development for Covid-19, but none have yet been
licensed.
And because the various strains of influenza have mostly been circulating for many years, plenty of people have developed a degree
of immunity to them. That’s not the case for this coronavirus.
Symptoms
The [National Health Service] NHS lists the symptoms of Covid-19 as a cough, high temperature and shortness of breath.
The WHO says the most common symptoms are a dry cough, fever and tiredness, but some people may also experience aches and pains,
nasal congestion, a runny nose, sore throat or diarrhoea. Symptoms tend to emerge around five days after catching the virus.
According to the NHS, flu symptoms can come on very quickly and include a sudden fever, aching body, feeling tired or exhausted,
a dry cough, a sore throat, a headache, difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite, diarrhoea or tummy pain, feeling or being sick.
Children can also get pain in the ear.

2008 financial crisis, amounting to nearly a quarter of what the US federal government spent last year.
In addition to the $250bn in cheques for families, the plan includes a bailout for airlines and hotels, among
other measures. The proposal must be approved by Congress to move forward.
Separate from the $1tn package, Mr Mnuchin said the government would also allow companies and individuals
to delay their tax payments for 90 days. "We look forward to having bipartisan support to pass this legislation
very quickly," he said.
US President Donald Trump initially proposed a payroll tax cut, which would reduce the money the government
automatically withholds from worker pay to pay for social programmes. However, critics said that relief would
come too slowly and leave out those without jobs.
Several high-profile economists had urged more direct assistance, including $1,000 payments, winning support
from lawmakers such as Republican Senator Mitt Romney.
Mr Trump said he had come round to the view that faster, more direct relief is necessary.
"With this invisible enemy, we don't want people losing their jobs and not having money to live," Mr Trump said,
adding that he wanted to target the relief to those who need it.
Mr Mnuchin said he hoped to send the cheques within two weeks.
"Americans need cash now and the president wants to give cash now and I mean now, in the next two weeks."
Jason Furman, an economist at Harvard University who had championed the idea, wrote on Twitter that he was
thrilled to see it gain traction.
Speaking to the BBC earlier, he said direct payments would help, even with so many shops closed for business.
"It would enable people to not work, if that's what they need to do. It will prevent some people from not making their
rent payments," said Mr Furman, who served as a top economic adviser under former President Barack Obama.
"There are a lot of ways to spend money that don't involve going out."
But economist Gabriel Zucman, a professor at the University of California who has advised Democratic Senator
Elizabeth Warren, said the government should prioritise help to businesses if it wants to avoid mass layoffs and
company failures.
"What the US needs is massive support to small businesses to cover wages and maintenance costs during shutdown,"
he said, adding that lawmakers could opt to do both. The White House push for relief follows comes as Republicans
and Democrats in Congress remain divided about what help is necessary.
It follows actions by the Federal Reserve to ease financial strains.
The bank on Tuesday said it will use emergency powers to purchase up to $1tr in short-term corporate debt directly
from companies, reinstating a funding facility that was created during the 2008 financial crisis.
It is also offering another $500bn in overnight loans to banks. It has previously enacted two emergency rate cuts,
and other stimulus measures.
US markets rallied about 6% following Tuesday's announcements after steep falls a day earlier.

In Virginia, the governor has banned any gathering of people over 100. COVID-19 cases are on the rise. Since yesterday, the number of people tested has more than doubled, from 489 to 1028, and in that doubling of tested individuals, they picked up a few percent more infected, rising from 51 to 67. Deaths have apparently doubled as well, from 1 to 2. Oddly, the virus seems to be hitting mostly liberal areas. Here is the map of infections:

I'm in the far left tail of the state, well away from the hotbeds. West Virginia reported it's first case about an hour ago, and it's reported to be "in the eastern panhandle", but without a specific location provided. That is where my son and his family live, so He may be in the danger zone now. He ought to pack them up and haul ass for here, where we are a minimum of 5 1/2 hours from the nearest infection, but he won't - he has work to do where he is.

Because the scientists who created this virus understand it and their knowledge of the virus can be used to defend us from this pandemic. I thank the dedicated health professional who did this research and shared it with me.
To note: I did a fact check on the main points and they are accurate. I have no PROOF of this theory, only compelling information.
"The first order of battling this virus pandemic is to understand the origin of COVID-19. In its birth, many answers about its behavior can be found. The BIG problem is that the origins of this current virus very likely raise highly embarrassing disclosures for the US and China, which is why I suspect it is being unreported in the media and by our government officials.
We in medicine were always fearful the naturally evolved H5N1 bird flu would be THE pandemic threatening human existence one day due to its alarming mortality rate even among healthy people. All the H5N1 needed was to evolve a highly efficient protein spike on its surface that rapidly attaches to human cells so it could be efficiently spread from human to human.
Not coincidentally, this spike would look very much like the one that UNC researchers (Baric et al) attached to the horseshoe bat Corona virus in their lab as described in their 2015 article in the journal Nature (see below). If this was to occur in the H5N1 virus, we would have a highly contagious form of H5N1 virus with a 60% mortality rate that would decimate the human species.
Though there may have been legitimate immunology research reasons for why Ralph Baric’s lab created a novel, highly infectious Corona/SARS hybrid virus for research purposes as published in their 2015 Nature Medicine article, many well respected worldwide research institution heads were quite unsettled by it. (See the commentary written about the 2015 Nature article below).
Subsequently, it seemsreasonable to presume that University of North Carolina's (UNC) “method of hybrid virus creation” intellectual property was copied by one of Baric’s Chinese co-authors, researcher Shi Zhengli. Shi Zhengli was referred to in the 2015 Nature article as a leader at the “Key Laboratory of Special Pathogens and Biosafety at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan, China”. That lab is one of the world’s dozen or so Bio-level 4 research facilities that are approved to handle the world’s most deadly of pathogens.
Unfortunately, there are two previous documented escapes of the SARS virus from a Beijing lab into the local community [corrected 3.16.2020]. Fortunately the SARS virus that escaped was not a particular good contagion for human to human transmission.
It seems highly logical to assume that Ms. Shi Zhengli’s team likely inserted the same or an extremely similar infectious spike from the lethal SARS virus into the Corona bat virus just as UNC had designed, but perhaps without the appropriate lab protections UNC demonstrated [modified 3.22.2020].
Interestingly, the identification of this previously described unnatural infectious spike on the COVID-19 virus samples obtained from early infected humans was confirmed by an Indian biotech lab shortly after the recent outbreak. They stated they performed their analysis through reverse engineering of the COVID-19 DNA. The Indian lab’s e-published findings were roundly condemned and dismissed only by the US and China; and the Indian laboratory was ultimately “forced” to take their research paper off the internet!**

Subsequently, the same Chinese doctor (Shi Zhengli aka Zhengli-Li Shi) published in Nature once again in January of this year about a “novel” and “never been seen before in humans” virus emerging in the population of Wuhan. Her 2020 Nature article describes a corona virus with a SARS spike on its viral coat, making it infectious to humans.
There is a high likelihood that COVID-19 is a bioengineered “escaped” virus. Who better knows this virus’s behavior than the scientists involved in their development (Baric and Zhengli)? We need transparency now!
To continue to deny the likely possibility that COVID-19 is man-made seems silly when armed with knowledge accessible in the science literature, and by paying attention to the reported details of the outbreak! In particular:
—The initially infected Wuhan area patients had absolutely no associations with the “wet” animal market.
—Reportedly, the Chinese do not eat this type of bat or sell them at the market.
—Additionally, the bat species that carries the non-human COVID version of bat corona virus was in hibernation at the epidemic outbreak.
—Lastly, the Chinese military took over the Wuhan Bio-level 4 lab at the beginning of the outbreak.
What do we know so far?
—This unexpected pandemic is caused by a bat virus that has a SARS virus spike attached, a spike which specifically binds to the human ACE-2 receptor, a cellular receptor prevalent in human lung tissues, not in bats.
—This is the same spike placed on Baric’s and Zhingli’s creations to greatly enhance human cell infectivity and thus contagiousness..."
In 2015 scientists were alarmed about the ramifications of the research described by Baric in the 2015 publication in Nature Medicine journal as published below:
Ralph Baric, an infectious-disease researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, last week (November 9) published a study on his team’s efforts to engineer a virus with the surface protein of the SHC014 coronavirus, found in horseshoe bats in China, and the backbone of one that causes human-like severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in mice. The hybrid virus could infect human airway cells and caused disease in mice, according to the team’s results, which were published in Nature Medicine
The results demonstrate the ability of the SHC014 surface protein to bind and infect human cells, validating concerns that this virus—or other coronaviruses found in bat species—may be capable of making the leap to people without first evolving in an intermediate host, Nature reported. They also reignite a debate about whether that information justifies the risk of such work, known as gain-of-function research. “If the [new] virus escaped, nobody could predict the trajectory,” Simon Wain-Hobson, a virologist at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, told Nature.
In October 2013, the US government put a stop to all federal funding for gain-of-function studies, with particular concern rising about influenza, SARS, and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). “NIH [National Institutes of Health] has funded such studies because they help define the fundamental nature of human-pathogen interactions, enable the assessment of the pandemic potential of emerging infectious agents, and inform public health and preparedness efforts,” NIH Director Francis Collins said in a statement at the time. “These studies, however, also entail biosafety and biosecurity risks, which need to be understood better.”
Baric’s study on the SHC014-chimeric coronavirus began before the moratorium was announced, and the NIH allowed it to proceed during a review process, which eventually led to the conclusion that the work did not fall under the new restrictions, Baric told Nature. But some researchers, like Wain-Hobson, disagree with that decision.
The debate comes down to how informative the results are. “The only impact of this work is the creation, in a lab, of a new, non-natural risk,” Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist and biodefence expert at Rutgers University, told Nature.
But Baric and others argued the study’s importance. “[The results] move this virus from a candidate emerging pathogen to a clear and present danger,” Peter Daszak, president of the EcoHealth Alliance, which samples viruses from animals and people in emerging-diseases hotspots across the globe, told Nature."

Two jurors in the trial, which started on 9 March, were discharged on Thursday because they went into self-isolation.
Mr Justice Edis said although the law permits a trial to continue with nine jurors, the trial into PC Harper's death had
not reached the end of the prosecution case and the three defendants had a "right to give and to call evidence".
He said: "The trial cannot finish in the immediate future and the risk that we will lose another juror, or some other person
who is essential to its continuation is so high that I have decided that it is no longer in the public interest to take the risk
of continuing to convene at court."
'Deeply sorry'
The judge said he also considered a case of "this importance" should be "if possible" decided by a jury with more than
nine members. He said he was "deeply sorry" to "those who loved" PC Harper for his decision, and said the case would
be listed on 1 June for a review hearing.
The Old Bailey has heard PC Harper and a colleague were responding to a report of a quad bike theft near Sulhamstead,
Berkshire, when he became entangled in a tow rope. The 28-year-old, from Wallingford, Oxfordshire, was dragged for more
than a mile and suffered "absolutely catastrophic, unsurvivable injuries".
Mr Long, from Mortimer, Reading, has admitted manslaughter and conspiracy to steal a quad bike.
The two 17-year-olds, who cannot be named due to their age, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal a quad bike.

Due to the UK's Prime Minister Boris Johnson appearing on national television on Monday evening 23rd March
and announcing 'rules' that can help thwart the current virus outbreak, the same medium and many newspapers
have taken the opportunity to twist his words in order of outrage and ratings.
The 'dumbing-down' that's been taking place for the last few years has put many people from all around the world,
into a type of adversarial setting where politicians and the media are looked on as disingenuous and not to be
trusted.
And in my opinion, in general, they shouldn't be. But I'm not shilling here for the Government, I'm trying to help folks
see how wordage means so much when relating information important to one's well-being. The media really needs
to be reined-in with their contemptible reporting. I'm all for free-speech, but changing words for the sake of better
ratings, doesn't help in a time like this.
In the current Covid-19 situation, the conduit that Boris Johnson used is really the main problem here.
If we accept there is a problem with this contagious disease, wouldn't it be prudent to use ideas to slow and eventually
stop the infection? Since the transmission of the virus is reportedly moving by close-contact to each other, it would
make sense to keep a distance and stay indoors if one realises they have the disease.
But commonsense has been usurped by outrage recently and the sensible suggestions are questioned on a level that
shows our true feelings to those who govern and those who tell us what they're saying. Trust has been so damaged due
to the Governments around the world habitually seeking their need for power and wealth, that the people have been
forced to deduce that no body of governance can be trusted and whatever they say, the truth is probably opposite.
So now we have a quandry. Crying wolf too-many times means medical guidance is ignored and people suffer.
We should work harder on when to listen and when not to.

There are two main broadcasting outlets in Great Britain, the British Broadcasting Coproration (BBC) and Independent
Television (ITV).
Here's an article from the same day of PM. Johnson's speech to the country. Note what the headline states and what he's
actually quoted to have said. It's taken from an ITV morning news-show's website where Piers Morgan presents topics
of so-called discussion.
The narrative is far-more forceful than Johnson's quoted words and this is why many are ignoring the advice to deter
the disease.

The BBC's narrative -a corporation funded by the Government via a public television licence, is presented slightly differently.

The new measures came amid fears people were disregarding the government's social distancing advice.
At the weekend, crowds of people were seen at beaches, parks, markets and other public spaces.
The new guidance says people should only leave their homes for one of four reasons:
Shopping for basic necessities such as food and medicine. Shopping trips should be as infrequent as possible
One form of exercise a day such as a run, walk or cycle. This should be done alone or only with people you live with
Any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person. This includes moving children under the age of
18 between their parents' homes, where applicable. Key workers or those with children identified as vulnerable can
continue to take their children to school
Travelling to and from work, but only where work absolutely cannot be done from home
Even when following the above guidance, people should minimise the amount of time spent out of their homes and
should keep two metres (6ft) away from people they do not live with.
The government is also stopping all social events, including weddings, baptisms and other ceremonies - but funerals
attended by immediate family members are allowed. Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove said if people did not follow
the rules, the police would "have the tools to ensure they are penalised and punished if they put others' lives at risk".
This could be through fixed penalty notices and officers enforcing pubic order measures, he said.
Businesses that will not need to close include supermarkets, petrol stations, post offices and banks.
Mr Gove said construction should continue on site so long as social-distancing measures were followed.
But premises such as libraries, non-essential shops, playgrounds, outdoor gyms and places of worship have been
ordered to close.
Hotels, hostels, campsites and caravan parks must also close unless key workers need to stay there, or if other
people staying there cannot return to their primary residence.
Parks will remain open for exercise but people are not allowed to gather in groups.
Community centres can stay open but only for the purpose of "hosting essential voluntary or public services" such as food
banks or service for homeless people, the guidance says. Some 83,945 people in the UK have been tested for coronavirus
with 6,650 testing positive. However, the true number of cases will be far higher as tests are primarily done on hospital
patients with symptoms of the virus...'
So as you can see, the word 'lock-down' cannot be used when reporting direct information from the UK Government currently
and yet, the ITV broadcaster -who relies on advertising for its income, tells a different story in its headline.
But there is more on that BBC web-page and that's where they get to promote the MSM ratings-hungry fear campaign.
The need to translate what is actually said and what these gate-keepers want you to think just can't be avoided.
Ironically, these same mediums never doubt the accepted narrative of the coronavirus and possibly investigate with the
intent of drawing in more readers and viewers. They just take a story and blow it up into ridiculous proportions.
They cannot just tell the plain truth.
Hence the confusion. Thousands of people are ignoring the advice due to the media's blurring of what is advised and what
is demanded. It isn't a lock-down, it's a set of temporary guidelines that we need to adhere to in order to eradicate the disease
and when it's under control or extinguished, destroy them immediately.
Commonsense, the hated word of the mainstream media.
Yep, once again you have hit the nail on the head, I have been trying to follow what is going on in England and its very confusing with different news sources seeming to tell different accounts. One thing I have read is that the no-go, sorry vulnerably areas both in Sweden and France are impossible to control ( in Sweden nothing is been done to stop the spread and I mean nothing, schools open everything open). It seems that the muslims dont like been told what to do and see it as a plan of the infidels to try and control them, so in France they just do as they want.

The holy call to prayer will continue to fill the halls of London’s busiest mosque this morning (Tuesday, March 17), as it has done since it opened in 1985. On a normal day, some 10,000 worshipers from all over East London
attend the Whitechapel site across five daily prayers.
The mosque has now broken from its traditional schedule to protect its large and elderly congregation from
coronavirus while still offering a space for spiritual respite. Prayers have been cut short with people being
asked to go home promptly afterwards and not gather beforehand.
Although Islam teaches that group praying reaps richer spiritual rewards, the mosque is asking people to perform
the last prayer of the day at home. Congregants have also been asked to do their ablutions - ritual cleansing- at
home while the mosque’s holy carpets are being cleaned more regularly.
Addressing the mosque last week, Imam Shaykh Mohammed Mahmoud told the congregation not to panic and trust in Allah. “But this resilience,” he said. “Goes hand in hand with taking sensible measures.”
Staff and visitors explained last week (Friday, March 13) why the mosque is staying open for now and what is
expected of Muslim congregants in times of collective struggle. 'It’s something that we’ve never faced in our lifetime'
Head of Assets and Facilities Assad Jaman, 52, has the unenviable task of overseeing the three prayer halls,
visitors centre, schools, and care home that make up the large complex on Commercial Road, Whitechapel.
As well as visitors following the now familiar protocol of washing hands more frequently, he explained that the cleaning
schedule has been increased in the prayer halls where worshippers touch their heads and hands to the carpet.
Older people are being encouraged to sit on the chairs that line the left side of the main hall, and the points where
people make contact with the holy carpet are being sprayed with chemicals, on top of a full clean after each mass.
Assad has just bought a batch of 150 cotton cloths to use a rewashable makeshift-prayer mats to limit the virus
spreading on the thick pile mats they traditionally use. He had considered encouraging people to bring their own,
but realised this would only lead to germs being taken home with people.
The mosque is now taking the unprecedented step of cutting the length of the Friday prayer, which attracts up to 7,000
congregants, by 15 minutes and restricting the time members of the public can spend in the building.
Speaking on Friday (March 13) he said: “The idea is that people are not coming in early, gathering early,or staying
here longer than they need to."
Congregants are asked to carry out their daily prayers at home after being “psychologically encouraged” by Imams
telling them they will reap the same reward as coming to the mosque, given the circumstances.
By opening at midday instead of 10am and asking people to leave as quickly as possible and complete the last
prayer of the day at home, he hopes to limit the time worshippers spend in a large group. With Ramadan due to start
on April 23, Assad is concerned that by that time, government advice on mass gatherings will completely change
the way the festival is celebrated.
If the three international reciters who are ready to travel to Whitechapel to lead the Ramadan prayers next month
can’t fly in, they will “make do” with Imams from home. But they will have to find a way to “curtail the congregation
size as much as possible” should it come to it.
“If the government says that a gathering of more than 100 or 200 is not allowed, then we’ll close the mosque,” he said.
For now, Assad is hoping for the best case scenario but planning for the worst. He explains that the although he will be
hugely disappointed if they do have to close the mosque entirely, Islam is a way of life that in its nature must adapt to
the situation it finds itself in.
“A few, a very few, will criticise us for doing so,” he said. “But the majority will accept the decision because those who
know the actual teaching of Islam know it’s for the greater good of society and the community.
“It’s not for anyone’s personal gain or achievement.” He added: “It’s something that we’ve never faced in our lifetime
but as the saying goes, there’s always the first time for everything.”
'We take our precautions, I've been doing that all my life'
Shaheb Yusuf Muhammad, 31, has cycled the five miles from Plaistow to East London Mosque every day for 15 years
and the coronavirus hasn’t stopped him so far. He explained that the combination of exercising, eating well and his faith
have given him confidence in accepting all kinds of eventualities.
“By staying healthy, I feel that we are preparing ourselves for the inevitable - like corona,” he said. "We take our precautions,
I've been doing that all my life." Although praying with the community is an important part of his religion, he echoed Assad’s
beliefs that Islamic teachings about selflessness justify praying at home should the mosque have to close.
He said: "We learn from the traditions of the prophet that praying in congregation gives you more reward, but if you are
forced to pray at home God is kind and will give you that reward anyway. “By praying at home you're doing it for the greater

This means that Finland's access to medical protective equipment is fully secured.
The equipment should now be used where there is a need, such as home health care.

Six of fifteen dead in covid-19 in Stockholm are Swedish Somalis. It is now alerting the Medical Association, reports SVT .
- Most had underlying illnesses. But a man in his 60s, who passed away yesterday, made a very prosperous impression, even though we do not know his medical history. Many were shocked when they learned that he had died, says physician Jihan Mohamed, board member of the Swedish Medical Association, to the channel.
Several of those who died were living in the Järva area. There, the mood has been troubled in recent weeks, as several have had difficulty in acquiring the information about the virus from the authorities - which existed almost exclusively in Swedish and English.
- People are shocked and worried. Many of them are grieving relatives now, says Hussein Farah.
He is an imam at the Culture Center's Mosque in Rinkeby, where almost all the business has now been closed down to reduce the spread of infection. The mosque has recently been called down by troubled people who have not been able to speak Swedish well enough to be able to absorb the authorities' advice on the corona virus.
Recently, a Somali-speaking doctor was chosen to bring the virus to visitors who wondered. Even before the prayers have been given information, says Hussein Farah. Official information is missing in other languages
Just over a week ago , Expressens Frida Sundkvist wrote about the flawed official information about the corona virus that was available in languages other than Swedish. Most regions only have information in Swedish and sometimes English, and the Public Health Agency itself had only a pdf file called "information to travelers" and a leaflet about washing hands in languages that many people speak in Sweden - for example, Arabic, Dari and Somali.
This has meant that many have been outside the huge flow of information sent out every day in Swedish.
- Many have come to us. We have been told that they must go home, not visit their elderly and what to do to stop the virus, says Hussein Farah. Distribution in confined areas
- We knew about corona when it was in China, and then in South Korea and then Italy. But then there was still no information in other languages. Now it's better, but it's too late. The information would have come much earlier, it would have saved lives, Hussein Farah continues.
There are more problems: in the Järva area, where many people come from, many live in crowded areas, which increases the risk of spreading infection. Beyond that, they often spend time and cross the generational boundaries, Hussein Farah says:
- When many people live together, and are of different ages, there will be problems when working from home. There are not many stores here either, there are many people staying on a limited area.
He believes that Sweden must unite in the fight and be helped to stop the spread of the virus.

All employees in healthcare work and struggle with everything they have in intensive care and other departments, we have to help with what we can to give everyone information so they can do everything to stop the infection. Several of the staff at a Stockholm hospital describe to Expressen how the proportion of foreign-born is high among those currently being cared for in the care and intensive care units.
A doctor who works with caring for coronary-infected patients says that several of the seriously ill people who were cared for in his department were from the same area and had a foreign background.
- There have been several seriously ill people from the same area in Spånga. So surely it can be true that there are many Somalis.
According to what the doctor heard, but cannot confirm, there are indications that the virus may have spread on a Friday prayer a few weeks ago.
- But if you want to speculate, this is a very bad development. They live close, even when they are sick.
- It is more common for several generations to live together in apartments, which has made the elderly more exposed to the risk of being infected.
