I personally believe Muhammad found God in that cave of his. There was nothing really wrong with him documenting (proselytizing) that which he experienced. I'd bet you a dollar though, that he pulled the governance part of Islam straight from his ass.
No telling why God makes Himself known to any of us. He's got His reasons.
No telling why humans have to try to control others. Far as I can tell ... God doesn't.
