The themes they use... whether it's race, gender or sexual acts are just topics to entice you to watch boob-tube for a couple of minutes more. Pissing a viewer off isn't a worry, many of the TV pundits and commentators don't even believe their narratives and understand these debating talking-points are merely there to entertain. Listen to any of the 'news-presenters' interview a favoured guest, the questions are so barbed and yet they say them anyway. It's not because they are dumb, they have vocal tones that have been deemed appropriate and physical features okayed by media agencies, it's because the network knows the obvious answer will not be said and this will activate viewers who think something important has been missed. The subject matter isn't important, it just has to spicy enough to hold your attention. "This horrid white man took out a spatula and with an innocent woman-of-colour looking on, rammed the utensil..." -The rest after these important messages. "Man swallows crocodile, film at eleven" Th-that's show-biz!! It's a fairly clear picture emerging and it's becoming clear to me at least what is the best conclusion to draw from all this. You could well be correct with a second agenda -possibly agreed to by the businesses advertising with the TV services or possibly not. Social-engineering comes in many guises, but the main goal for commodity-producers is to have the public give them more money for an item than they spent on creating the item. However, the infux of black people in commercials could just be a false reality designed to 'train' -as you suggest, certain minorities to step-up and believe their lifestyles require products that this false TV paradigm shows via their commercials. |
